Quinn had continued her observations as quietly as she could, the presence of few making her more than just uncomfortable. She felt blind without Valor's sharp eyes and just as unprepared. But she had to continue telling herself that it was for the best. Her continued thoughts had more than likely discombobulated her senses, but the ranger felt herself do a double take as her eyes swept over a familiar looking costume. She was unable to see his eyes, and his voice was somehow hidden.
Before she could approach him - if she so dared to - their host spoke up once more. They were bustled about like toy soldiers, being placed into their respective categories with what she assumed to be the more bulky ones up front and leading the charge. This suited her just fine. What did not suit her 'just fine' was the sudden roars and the ground beginning to shake as the sudden rampage of strange creatures began.
Bullets began to fly, swords and shields and all manner of weapons were drawn. Quinn tilted her weapon, shielding her gaze from the sun. She clicked her tongue lightly as she took a few steps back even as many began to run forward. Valor would have seen these things, but... well, he was not here. Before she could even consider a point of attack, a female voice yelled out for them to cover their eyes and Quinn quickly turned her head just as a blinding flash caused the ground to shake even harder. She looked back towards the pack of monsters.
Their armor looked too thick to pierce with random shots and the fact that those bullets only seemed to graze them confirmed it. Surely there were weak points she could target. Their eyes for one, and she had to be thankful that there was little wind. The armpits was another, but she had no idea what these things were... only in those picture books she had 'read' did she see creatures half resembling these. The eyes, perhaps the back of their legs... shooting an arrow down their mouth would probably do it too but she'd have to be too close for that.
Another roar to her side caused her to flick her gaze to the two men who had broken away from the party and the giant ogre that had seemingly burst out from the ground. She choked down a small gasp at the sight of the two headed beast and immediately brought her weapon up to fire arrow upon arrow at the sandy ogre(s?) with the intent to hit as many eyes as possible (Q).

"Ah, a brawl already! I knew this trip would be exciting!" Jacob exclaimed as the battle began. "Be careful Naiyu, these brutes look quite nasty." he told his apprentice. "Be ready to help someone should they need it." He then drew his gun from its holster and followed behind the group in the fight, but staying back to not be noticed.
The gun was an old flintlock, barely functioning due to age and use. However, it did not matter, for Jacob did not shoot bullets from it. He used the gun as a focus for his magic, using the barrel of the gun to contain his spell until he released it.
He watched the strong brown one charge the women with the sword. He raised his gun to the charging brute. An orange light began to glow from the mouth of the gun as the magic began to gather and grow. "Might want to cover you ears my dear!" he called to Laufeia, before he fired the magic towards the ogre.
Hitting his ally would not be beneficial, so Jacob focused this shot to have little to no splash, but have very strong piercing. He was confident it would hurt should it hit.
Time stopped as he witnessed the cast.Instantly, all the knowledge that was needed to use the spell was sent to his brain as time resumed. "That's interesting..."
Shortly after, he dug into his backpack and found the lighter he brought with him, holding it with his right hand as he began to cast the SparkBolt with his left. He clicked his lighter, generating a small flame. Soon after, the small flame grew into a massive stream of fire that he was able to manipulate however he wanted.
Looking at the scene, Kevin determined that the most important target to hit was the one chasing after the girl with the sword, considering she was leading it straight to the back line if mages. When he was in range, he launched the SparkBolt at the Ogre's chest, trying to make sure he hit with it. With his other hand, he turned the regular flame blue, increasing the temperature of it before he directed the blue stream of fire into the 'Strong Brown' Orge's face, trying to blind him or at least halt its charge. __________________________________________ Spells currently copied. 1. "Guards up everyone, these creatures clearly intend to stop us. Let's put them down quickly, there could be more of them inside."
As the words left the leader's mouth, Naiyu knew a fight was about to break out. Gathering outside of the Institute, she was well able to fight, but she had never fought in a group before. This would be a real test of her ability to keep up with multiple people while keeping on top of her main duty, making sure no one died if she could help it.
Already the Doctor she'd met once before charged ahead, a burning aura flaring from his bulging purple form as he went straight for the leader Ogre. He seemed to be doing fine, her assistance would wait.
Her body jolted forward harshly, thrown aside by the charging man in blue armour. Doing her best not to get swept up into the front lines, she quickly righted herself as he struck a nearby Orge, only seeming to annoy thing thing further.
"Quickly! Hit him while he's dazed, I'll make sure to keep him off of you."
He didn't seem dazed enough for Naiyu to do any form of helping...she'd pass.
She noted the mechanical one effectively downing one of the beasts with a spectacular wave and a smash to it's knees. A job well done for a single person. She also made note of the one called Adeptis launching a spark-like spell at the one nearest them. So far so good.
Naiyu blinked all of two times before the command registered with her, her hands barely making it in time to spare her eyes the burning sensation of the blinding light that followed. Once it had faded, it seemed to had done it's job, as the Ogres' seemed rather peeved about it. Speaking of Ogres, wasn't there-
"We got two of the ugly sacks of shit missing! You! Dominic! To me! We're going stop these idiots from being flanked!"
Lovely. Naiyu's attention had been on her comrades assault, effectively letting her miss the Ogres that had slipped away as well. She has heard the one called Thoven address Dominic, was it? And made sure to remember the direction they had stalked off in. At least they seemed to know what to do, it was more than the golden eyed girl to say for herself.
It took the woman a moment to notice the slowly rising blood around them all, her feet making an awkward motion of stepping back as Vladimir sauntered forward casually, hurling needle after needle of blood at the monsters. It didn't wound any of them as much as she would have liked, but it seemed that that along with everyone else's attacks were making the Ogres hold off squashing them completely.
The clicks and whirls next to Naiyu caught her attention momentarily, her eyes lighting up with the flashes produced by the one called Ozzy unloading shots at the nearest of two Ogres. He had....four arms? How did she miss that?...she'd have to pay closer attention to her so called companions from now on...
Just as the thought crossed her mind, though, the floor groaned and trembled with the felling of an Ogre. Having been turned a slightly strange angle keeping up with everyone, Naiyu slipped up, falling onto her back. The angle of the fall however, was just so that she saw when the two headed Ogre was found, right next to where Dominic had found himself crouching. Naiyu's mouth opened to alert the others, but it seemed Quinn had also seen, and began hailing arrows upon the thing.
Everyone was doing their part...except her. What was she to do? She wasn't sure if anyone had taken much damage yet, much less if she were to already use her skills and have them not ready should catastrophe strike. Just as she was berateing her useless state, her teacher Jacob spoke up near her fallen form.
"Ah, a brawl already! I knew this trip would be exciting! Be careful Naiyu, these brutes look quite nasty. Be ready to help someone should they need it."
"...Ready to...help..." She echoed, pulling herself up off the floor. Cooldowns be damned, she wasn't about to let this party take chances with damage because she was unsure. With a soft shudder she finally began, firstly choosing both Thoven and Talon near the two headed sand-colored Ogre and shielded them as they moved. She was still fairly in the middle of everything, thanks be to Sir Gillam's fevered charge. Clasping her hands and focusing, a soft ring a light blue butterflies fluttered near everyone, returning the energy they had expended slowly but surely. There were a lot of people here, far too many to keep draining herself to supply them, so she only gave a short burst before breaking the ring. Lastly she glanced towards those in the front line. It seemed Mundo was going to be their shield, so Naiyu decided she would save her healing ability for him and those just behind him, should any of them receive damage. Status: Fairly Healthy (95%)

Before the two-headed ogre could deliver the hug of death, out of the blinding arrows that flew towards him, a stray one struck him straight in one of his four eyes. The rest cluttered off his thick skin uselessly but it was successful in causing the ogre to reel back in shock. "Dark! Dark!" The injured head screeched, causing the other one to turn his own eyes around to spot the perpetrator. Upon spying Quinn with her bow, he pointed excitedly. "That thing, that thing!" Their voices seem to resonate and seemingly forgetting all about their first target and the strange fairy shield that surrounded him now, turned to trample right over him and into Quinn.
The brown ogre had almost reached the lightning-sword wielder when he was immediately struck by the magic bullet. It pierced right through his armor and embedded itself square in his chest. Around the wound, smoke rose and the ogre could smell his own flesh burning. But he was confused, almost as if his brain had not yet caught up with the pain and it took a solid second or so for him to roar out in fury.
The adrenaline began to pump, blocking all feeling from the wound as he staggered back once before lunging forward ready to deliver a skull-crushing blow straight a top Laufeia's head. But even before he could do that, another spark bolt slammed into him, right into the bullet and without giving him enough time to recover, a stream of fire was blasted right over his face. Even the adrenaline could not stop him from feeling the agony that surged through his body and he teetered briefly before falling to his knees. "Brother..." Then a spray of blood spewed from the wound in his chest before he fell face first into the sand.
Meanwhile, as the green ogre was just about to clash into Mundo in the battle of titans, he was suddenly thrown off balance by the sudden dragon creature that had made its home on the cleaver creature. He frowned. Ogres liked to battle, especially when it was a brawl but this was cheating. He spat a globule of gunk onto the ground, "Didn't think you to fight so weak," He guffawed, and just as the last word flew from his mouth the oyster of spit on the sand began to sizzle and burn the grit right down a good inch or so. He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand and snorted up a bit more before spitting the 'creation' like a bullet straight at Mundo.
The grey ogre was feeling a little bit left out, and his anger was still burning as hot as the sun. He spotted someone - glowing hands and meek. He grinned, his teeth sharp and his eyes bloodshot as he laughed. "Come here!" He roared, taking long strides towards Naiyu.

Current Information:
- All ogres have natural defenses against projectiles of any sort, leaving barely a scratch on their tough skin.
- Ogres have the ability to activate an "Adrenaline Rush". Upon taking fatal damage, their bones and skin harden and they gain a massive increase in strength. The weakness of this skill has not yet been discovered.
- Sand Ogres have origins tracing back to the swamp lands as most if not all ogres did. Some of them had moved to the sands due to their distaste for the wet and cold. Their ancestors had slowly outgrown their colors of mud and grass and despite their veritable thickness in both mind and body, these 'sand ogres' are considered far more intelligent than their swamp brethren. Their skills differ from the others.

Razie sighed to himself as the bullets did nothing to the ogre he fired at and quickly decided that being trampled was NOT in his best interested and barely managed to tumble out of the way of the rampaging ogres before shaking himself off and analyzing the battlefield... he had a few options at this point, his teammates had already taken down 2 of the behemoths...
'Dr.Mundo and Lulu seem to have the green one taken care of for now. Miss Naiyu seems to have attracted the attention of the grey while Quinn, Dominic and Thoven have themselves occupied with the two headed anomaly. Obviously Mundo can take care of himself, while the men and Quinn seem fine at the moment... I shall have to start putting my plan into motion and get to miss Naiyu's side, hopefully the others shall follow suit otherwise this will be my shortest adventure yet.'
Razie's moment of combat evaluation over, he withdrew his pistol and began charging The Gloves underneath his set of Proto-Armor, the temporary energy source being drained as he did so. "Time for a field test." he muttered to himself as he let the sonics do their work and swiftly surged across the battlefield, using them to reposition himself to make sure he was getting a clear shot. getting an idea as he made his way there he yelled specifically at Sendrel to get the cyborgs attention.
"MR. SENDREL, SUPERSONICS ON MY TARGET!" he shouted as he moved his weapons from the ground to the Grey Ogres back being forced to his knees with the force he releasing, if it landed then he'd have to hope that either he or Sendrel got the creatures attention... if Sendrel responded in time with the proper assistance that is. Though if the creature was smart enough to dodge, or face-tank the blast he would have to quickly begin thinking of a new plan.
Razie Tynerson- Currently engaged with Grey Ogre Health Status- 85% activated Proto-armor functioning at 87% with sonics-function activated. Equipment: Backpack with water and sandwhiches A dozen Spark Taps The Gloves, which he was wearing underneath the proto-armor (currently in-use) Gigashield set His pistol with 3 rounds left and 5 magazines remaining
The more the proto-armor is used, whether by taking damage or using Razie's gauntlets to power his abilities the power source is drained, and since he didn't deploy a Giga-Shield before firing he's likely to drain it even further if thing's go south.
The Doctor merely stared at him, as adrenaline pumped through his twisted musculature and fire slowly burned the two of them alive, although it burnt the Ogre a little faster. The Doctor only began to laugh as he felt the sudden weight of the baby dragon on his shoulder. The prismatic shield of Fey magics which surrounded the Doctor and his gigantified state caused him to tower over the Ogre, who had most likely never had the pleasure of being overshadowed by something far bigger than him in a long time. He didn't even bother to dodge his spittle, for it would bore into the shield Lulu cast upon him and eat it up by itself. Meanwhile the Doctor's steady regenerative properties healed him back up to his full stature, while the continuing fire which revolved around him and the pulse of adrenaline through his system ensured he stayed where he originally left himself.
The now HUGE Dr. Mundo grabbed the Ogre by the back of the neck, easily wrapping his now monstrous hand around his head and lifting him high into the air.
"Mundo fight how he pleezus!"
The Doctor, on fire, and with adrenaline pumped blows began to slam the Ogre into the ground repeatedly like a rag doll. The baby dragon on his shoulder added only more fire to the inferno, breathing his natural flame onto the Doctor's enemy. The Doctor didn't notice his less... capable ally starting to come into mortal danged, nor did he particularly care either.

Post by Gillam Dunwall on Dec 20, 2013 16:28:58 GMT -5
After the blinding light had emanated from the Ionian, everything fell into disorder around Gillam. Orders were being hollred across the battlefield, spells were being casted, weapons of all kinds were making metallic sounds. It all seemed so familiar to him, yet the circumstances Gillam was at that moment were drastically different to any battle he had trained for during the Rune War.
The knight held his shield above him for as long as he could, waiting and expecting retaliation from the ogre that had hit. Fortunately, none came, and Gillam stood up, regaining his posture and getting out of the Phalanx (W) he had set up in front of him to asses the situation. Judging from the deep bellows of the ogres, it sounded like one or two had been taken out already. A grey ogre, presumably the one Gillam had engaged earlier, charged towards the back of the party. Gillam was about to intercept him when he noticed the expedition leader sprinting across the thick dunes to the frail healer's defense.
Suddenly, within his field of vision, he noticed a two headed ogre advancing towards...Quinn? The creature seemed to be carrying on a conversation between its two heads, but it was clearly headed for Quinn. Gillam hesitated for a second. Even though he barely knew who Quinn was, she was a Demacian, just as he was. If he was going to trust anyone within this group of people, it would have to be her.
Not wasting another second, Gillam started to run in the direction of the ogre, waiting to gather enough stamina to perform another Forward Charge (E). The two headed ogre would be a tough foe, but if Quinn was there to aid him, the two could take on the ferocious duo headed creature.

Sendrel had been surprised by the unpredicted transformation in the ogre, and was knocked off balance when it started pounding the ground. He was busy scrambling to upright himself when it suddenly barged away. As he stood up, the rest of the battle became dull and distant. It was just him, the ogre, and the electromancer he had wanted to avoid. At least it was.
Razie's shout pierced through his focus, and he looked to see him targeting the grey ogre. The beast now had his back turned to Sendrel, and he could not see where the ogre was going. It didn't matter though. The ogre was travelling on a set course, and that's all Sendrel needed to land his Sonic Cannon. He hated to have to use it at such an early stage, but it was likely the only way the ogre would go down anyway.
Sendrel Held his staff in both hands and pointed it towards the ogre's back. The staff began to vibrate intensely, almost rattling out of his grasp, before he let fly a Sonic Cannon(R) shot. The concentrated wave let very little excess sonic energy out, but it could still be faintly heard. Sendrel smiled. His aim had been perfect and unless the ogre suddenly changed course, it would connect for sure. _______________________________________________ Status: Healthy (98%), engaged in combat with grey ogre

Noticing two very pissed off ogres charging at him, Adeptis took a rapid few steps back. Then Laufeia shouted to shield his eyes, which made Adeptis move to shield his eyes with his hands, while keeping hold of his chains. Then the ogre started trampling and shaking up the ground. Even with the dampening effects of sand, Adeptis managed to trip. He's used to having a heavy weight of armor on him, after all, so the decreased weight made him stand a bit unsteady. He stood up soon after, and observed the situation. The green ogre was being handled by Mundo, who didn't seem to need help. The ogres who were chasing him were being dealt with, atleast it looked that way. Glancing to his side, he saw a massive two headed ogre. A bit to massive to normally hurt with a blunt weapon, he figured, so the choices were narrowed down to looking for those two missing sacks of shit, or helping Razie and Sendrel deal with the gray ogre.
Choosing for the latter, He began spinning his right chain in slowly widening circles, and quickly advanced towards the ogre. Being careful not to get into either's line of fire, he'd attempt to aproach the ogre and hit it, harshly, on it's stupid head. His left hand started spinning it's chain in a very short radius, readying up for a follow up should the first attack hit, or to deflect his own attack should it miss.

The grey ogre had almost reached his target, the girl with the glowing hands, but once more he was halted in his assault. A look of frustration crossed his face streaked with black dust. A blast against his back had caught his attention and though it stung briefly, the adrenaline still pumping through his veins allowed the brute to ignore any potential pain completely. What he couldn't ignore was the fact that someone had dared to hit him, and a human no less! He snorted, changing direction once again. This time instead of swinging his club, he unsheathed the slightly rusted sword from it's more than slightly rusted scabbard and flung the sword straight at Razie. With any luck, the pointy end would hit him.
As soon as he did so, the grey ogre felt just a slight compression in the small of his back, almost as if in slow motion, before the entire thing penetrated both skin, bone and flesh. The ogre looked down, slightly confused as to why there was suddenly a sizzling hole in his chest and why he could poke his finger right through it. That was when the beast fell, his eyes rolling to the back of his head, "Ouchies..." Was all he said before he crashed to the ground right as Adeptis began his strike.
The green ogre was not so prepared to get grabbed by the purple beast, as quickly ducked away from both fire and massive fist. Not quite as stupid as his brethren, he knew that the little dragon creature gave this thing more strength than was necessary. The green ogre snorted up a little more saliva and began to spit bullets from his mouth all the while looking for a way to swing his club into the thing's face without getting hammered himself.

Laufeia looked at both ogres that were down on the ground and before staring back at the rest of the group. She quickly noticed the two headed abomination trying to harm Quinn and said to the others " Someone should help Quinn out while the rest of us check if these two are still alive or not, we can't let them get up all of a sudden and hammer us down while we have our back turned to them!" Thoven would have been pissed off at Dominic said if he would've said the same thing to whoever yelled at him. He would have tucked that thought away for later had the Ogre not emerged from the sand. This had Thoven quickly backing off (maybe part of the reason it went for Dominic first, not that it caused any sort of guilt in Thoven's heart). Quinn had then drawn the beast's attention further away from him and this gave a opening for Thoven he would never think would come.
Of all the kills he has ever attempted....he never tried to CLIMB his target.
Thoven dashed towards the ogre, flipping both blades in hand to hold them upside down, and then leapt towards the back of the distracted and enraged monster with the goal of impaling the beast with both blades and then work his way up the ogre and find something vital to the creature's bodily functions.
This felt all kinds of silly and stupid and showy....but it actually seemed the best course of action. He could have tried to disable the monster, but that was relying on others to kill it while he was vulnerable. In Thoven's mind, better to kill it himself.

The sand came up around Talon's nearly prone body, and already he was cursing himself for taking the lead. He worked alone for a damn good reason and it was times like this that served to underscore them very nicely. The sudden burst of movement was enough to send the one-armed man lunging forward, as though the leaping hug wasn't.
The roar that sounded from behind him was indication enough that he wasn't going to die on his first mission since the injury. A quick scan of the situation seemed to correct his thoughts, as the tiny protruding bolt and the lumbering beast headed for Quinn told him what had happened. Something seemed to flinch within him, and the longsword he had been holding was quickly discarded as his hand reached into his cloak for the jagged, cruel armblade he so preferred.
Thoven had the right idea, but there were two heads. Even if one of them went down, there was no guarantee that it would stop the thing. His footsteps came quick until his body felt like air, focus honed sharper than the edge of his blade. Before he could fully draw the breath to strike, Cutthroat placed him upon the back of the beast's neck, the point of his punching blade moving with practiced accuracy to hopefully travel in from the back of the neck and, though he didn't think length would permit it, out of the ogre's face.
For the first time in many years, he heard himself growl angrily as he moved for the killing blow. And it was unsettling.
