Soul dropped the branch and shrugged. "Whatever you say, boss. I mean, uh--sir. Right." He jogged behind Karthus, standing besides him at the center of the cathedral ruins rather loosely. "Is there anything I can do to help? Or should I just shut up and watch, as usual, sir?" He tucked his dagger into its sheath, waiting for further orders.
All are equal in death; it's just that some people are more equal than others.
As Soul jogged past something that looked like a statue, Levathian awoke. He had been guarding what was left of the Cathedral since the day he had met Karthus there.
He took a step out from the wall and walked out behind Soul, he saw Karthus standing there with his back turned against them, the first thing that came to his mind was that Soul was going to attack Karthus. Levathian begins to walk closer to the two and when he is a few feet away from them he leaps and barley misses Soul as he swings his sword, the blade hit the ground in front of Soul's feet. He pulled back his blade and equipped his shield on his left arm. He points his blade at the one he thought was trespassing on the unholy ground. "You are trespassing on unholy ground, leave or be struck down."
Soul jumped almost two feet in the air. "HOLY CRAP!" On ground contact, he sprinted behind Karthus. "What the hell is that!? Make it stop!" He was almost frozen solid behind his master, unable to take action.
All are equal in death; it's just that some people are more equal than others.
"I will not repeat myself a second time, leave or be struck down." He took a firmer grip of his sword, noticing that the being had taken cover behind his master, "Master, why is this being taking cover behind you?" He began walking in a circular motion around Karthus to get a good angle of attack, making sure that he would not his master. He swung his blade towards Soul again.
Soul jumped again, narrowly being missed by Leviathan's sword again. "Wait, Karthus is your master too?"
Soul laughed nervously. "This is just a big misunderstanding! I'm just another minion of his, I swear!" He rubbed his head. "So, uh, gonna stop trying to kill me now?"
All are equal in death; it's just that some people are more equal than others.
Levathian stopped for a bit, thinking, there was a possibility that the being actually was a follower of Karthus, with he dismissed the thought for now. As far as he was concerned that being didn't belong here, and he was going to put it out. "LIES!" he yelled and advanced on the being again. He'd continue to try and end it's misery until Karthus told him to stop.
"Nope, guess not!" Soul began running again, neither honor-bound nor suicidal enough to stand still for long. "Karthus, sir? May I suggest CONTROLLING YOUR SERVANT!? Just a thought."
All are equal in death; it's just that some people are more equal than others.

Karthus' head turned toward Leviathan the moment he stepped out from the shadows. "Be still, Leviathan. Soul is one of us." Karthus rasped. "I would not want my allies to cut eachother apart. Be civil." He replied, trusting Leviathan to not dice Soul into oblvion as he floated onward towards the temple. The magic was still here, after all these years.....Karthus laid out his spell tome upon the mossy stone and flipped to a page before he started to mutter a strange, ancient chant.
Levathian stopped and listened to Karthus, "As you wish." he said and straightened his back, he put his sword in it's sheet and his shield on his back. He turned is attention to the being called Soul, "I guess I owe you an apology." he reached out his right hand for soul to shake, "I am Levathian, guardian of this temple. I've guarded this place since my death, and I will continue to do so until Karthus say otherwise."
Soul saw Leviathan hold out his hand. "Er, not to mean any offense, but if you value that armor, I would recommend not touching me." He shrugged. "I'm the Ghastly Soul, but everyone calls me Soul, because let's face it, the Ghastly Soul isn't quite pleasant, is it? I've been helping Karthus with spells and the like for...I can't remember how long, being undead makes time go all fuzzy, doesn't it?" He laughed lightly.
"But really," he continued, "I'm mostly just a tagalong. Although, touching stuff causes it to rot, rust, and the like, so hey, at least I'm good for mucking stuff up!" He smiled broadly at that comment, completely unperturbed by his latent ability to destroy things.
All are equal in death; it's just that some people are more equal than others.
"The armor will be fine, otherwise it would have been gone years ago." He put his hand at the hilt of the sword, he turned to face Karthus, "Since you are here, I'm assuming the cathedral over at the Shadow Isles is gone, sir?"

You are correct. It is gone along with the Ruined King's amiable disposition towards us.
Karthus' voice floated across the wind, even though he seemed to still be chanting over the foundation of what might have been an ancient cathedral. Time had not looked fondly upon the ancient structure....But as Karthus continued to chant, tendrils of black magic started to worm into the foundation, slowly increasing the volume of a faint hum that had begun to permeate the swamp.
Soul looked around slightly nervously. "Oh wow. Big stuff coming on, eh?" He looked at Leviathan. "Think we should take a couple of steps back? I don't want to pop up in a stone block or something and muck up the foundation." He twiddled his thumbs, unable to take action just yet.
All are equal in death; it's just that some people are more equal than others.
Levathian looked at Karthus as he chanted his spell then turned his attention to Soul as he spoke. "That wont be necessary." He said as a pillar rose up just next to him. He didn't move an inch and simply looked at the pillar, "Of course, you should probably move if you feel uncertain."

Sure enough, what seemed to be a cornerstone rose up beneath Soul's feet, causing the bound undead to fall upon his back as the temple rebuilt itself, Karthus still chanting within. With a crack of dark magic, the gaps between the stones sealed together once more, spreading a creeping aura of unholy power throughout the marsh. Karthus, the deed having now been done, floated out from the temple, invigorated by it's unholy aura, and looked down toward Soul. "Up."
