May 5th Tao stood at the gates of the Placidium with a small pack on his back and another sitting at his feet. The old master was waiting for the wayward soul that asked for the assistance of him and the Lady Karma. The old man watched the many people with various levels of interest, greeting those who recognized him and those who wanted to meet him.

Aurus approached the gates of the Placidium. He had received a message from his new quarters. Master Tao wished him to take a journey of peace and enlightenment.
He left soon afterword. He had no items to his name, saved for his clothes and his blade, but it was all he needed. The city felt crowded to him, having spent most of his life secluded in the monastery. He passed various buildings, watching as people went about their everyday lives.
He spotted the older man at the gate waiting. He approached and gave him a bow,

Tao nodded at the young man and returned the bow out of respect, though he didn't bend quite as deeply. The old man then picked up the pack and tossed it effortlessly to Aurus with a smile.
"Supplies for your journey. Some water and a few tidbits of emergency rations and first aid. Everything else we get from the land or from others willing to share. Now come along boy, we have plenty to do, so please keep"
He started to walk with Aurus out of the city gates and started into a light jog progressivly going faster as he headed down the open road, being sure to keep a speed Aurus can keep up with him.

Aurus caught the bag as it was thrown to him. He took a look inside, noting everything the older man said and checking it was there. This would not be a problem for him. The monks lived off the land and traded with others as well, so this was nothing new to him.
He followed Tao out of the city, keeping pace with the old man, who was surprisingly fast. Years of physical training had left Aurus very fit, so keeping pace was not too difficult to him.
"Master Tao, where is the place you wish to show me?"

The old master looked at the young man with a smile as they ran.
"My boy, this isn't about the destination that we will reach in the end.It is the journey it self that will affect you the most here. Now, clear your mind as we run. Observe how quickly the world passes us by as we run towards our goal."
After a moment the old man slowed and stopped as the path reached the top of the hill and waited for Aurus. When he stopped, the old man would speak again.
"Here is your first lesson Aurus. There is more to life than goals, destinations, personal ambitions. If you just run headlong on the path to your goal, you would miss out on everything this worlds offers."
Tao gestured with his hand in a flourish towards the horizon. If Aurus were to look he would see a scene straight from a beautiful painting. Trees and flowers in full bloom, various bits of wildlife, with the capital in the background of it all, the sun rising behind the city, casting it's glow on them. The old man watched the scenery with a smile before gazing at Aurus.
"Think on this, if we had kept running as we were, we would of missed one of the most spectacular sunrises one would lay their eyes on."

Aurus tried to watch the world as he ran after the old man. And even though he could make out some things, he could not pick out the specifics or the details of them.
Tao words on the hill got to him, amplified by the fact that Aurus remembered very little about the scenery on the way here.
"...I see what you mean. Focusing too much on the end makes you blind to the rest of the world."
He took a few moments to take in the scene around him and enjoy it. Had he ever just spent some time relaxing for himself? He had always felt that relaxing was a waste of time, one that he could better use to train or practise. But the calm serenity he was feeling right now was the most relaxed he had felt in awhile.

The old master smiled at Aurus as he saw how much more relaxed he was now after gazing at their surroundings. He gestured the young man to follow him as he started down the road at a good walking pace.
"I say that bit of enlightenment earned you some breakfast. Come I know a place where we can eat and have another lesson as well."
As they walked Tao looked over at Aurus and spoke to him.
"So Aurus, how do you usually spend your day?"

Aurus followed Tao. The idea of breakfast had reminded him of his lack of food this day. A nice breakfast sounded delightful right now.
"My days are long, not but very exciting. My days are spent focusing on my training. Knowing so many forms of fighting means there is much to practise. I have to keep my skills sharp." He gave a soft snort realizing how stupid it sounded. "It sounds foolish, spending all my time training, but it is my duty. I must learn and train as much as I can, so that the next holder may know what I do and be closer to enlightenment."
He let silence pass between them for a few more steps, mulling his words over.
"I took this blade because I felt like I had nothing left in life but revenge. I felt that this was my tool for revenge and that a life of training was what I would pay for it, but now..." he drew his sword, inspecting it in the sunlight. "Maybe I can use it for more than revenge."

Tao nodded in agreement as he walked besides the boy.
"Yes, as one of your discipline there is much to know and much to master. Your skills will be remembered and passed down time and time again. Your path will be difficult, but the reward is plain to see, you will be remembered."
Tao watched him inspect the blade and then faced forwards again after Aurus spoke.
"You are right, the blade is a tool. But you must remember that it is the wielder that decides the tools purpose. But one must also be mindful to not become a tool for their own desires. I for one can think of a good number of things that blade of yours can do."

Tao stopped for a moment and looked at the horizon. The look on his face was one of remembrance.
"Back when I lost my first child to war. I was lost in my emotions, I drank, I got into fights....I was not who I was anymore. Then a old friend told me to take a journey. And I did, and through the journey I found myself and made peace with my lost son."
He looked back at Aurus.
"Remember boy, sometimes you need to take a bit of time to reflect if you are feeling lost."
With that the old master continued to lead them again, the scent of cooking food and the sounds of metal work not far in the distance.

"I see. That must have been terrible." He did not know what it was like to lose a child, but if it was anything close to losing a parent, then he knew the pain.
Aurus had never considered that the man would have children. Given his age, he might even have grandchildren or even great grand children.
Aurus had never thought about having kids of his own. The idea of settling down and having a family felt like an impossibility to him.
"Do you have any more family master?" he asked as the savoury smell of food reached him. His stomach let out a small growl at the smell, reminding Aurus of his lack of food this morning.

Tao looked over at Aurus and nodded. A brief smile played on his lips.
"I have a granddaughter, she is quite the child and I have high hopes for her for when she inherits the school. But she is all I have left."
As they approached a simple building with no decoration or signs in plain view. The smell of food was at its strongest here. Tao looked over at his companion.
"A old friend of mine lives and works, and he is very selective with whom he serves. Mind your manners and such and you will avoid going hungry."
The master laughed as pounded on the door

Aurus could practically taste the food now, it's aroma was filling the air. But he would b polite, as Tao had said. He waited for the a reply from the other side of the door.

From inside the building thundered a voice that had a hint of annoyance.
Yeah. yeah I hear you, ya old coot. Come on in
Tao nodded and opened the door and motioned for Aurus to follow. Inside the building it looked like it was split evenly, one half being a forge and the other being a restaurant. in the restaurant side there was only one person ejoying a simple meal.Tao continue in and faced towards the forge side was where a large man began to quench the beginnings of a blade. The man was obviously not Ionian, he was large and built like the walls of a fortress. He grumbled and stood up and walked over clapping Tao on the shoulder with what looked like enough force to crush the old man. Tao unfazed smiled back, bowing slightly to the larger man.
"Hello Micheal, I see that you are well. Me and this young man are on a journey of enlightenment, and wish to have some of your delicious mainland food before we continue."
The man laughed deeply and nodded. He walked over and began to wash his hands. One could notice a tattoo that looked like the edges of the noxian coat of arms.
Formal as always old man. Sure I can whip you up some of the usual fare. And who is this young pup that will be joining ya for breakfast?
Tao motioned to Aurus and looked at him.
"Dont be shy boy, introduce yourself to my friend Micheal."
