Rumble laid in the beach sand for another hour until the evening hit. He went to a nice restaurant to eat his fill of dinner, then headed for the hills once nighttime came.
Radiant stars streaked across the night sky, freshly illuminating Bandle City with an ethereal glow. Rumble set his sights at the nighttime sky for a while as he seemed to be stuck in deep thought. It had been a long time since Rumble had ever gotten the chance to gaze at something so beautiful. The mechanic sighed. He liked his job because to him, building machines was an enjoyable hobby that would never die. However, sometimes he also wished that life would be so much more simple like gazing at the brilliant stars and grasping at their eternal beauty.
After an hour of sitting at the hills, Rumble stood up and headed back to his workshop. He didn't forget about his meeting with Jaslene during the lunch break, and he certainly wasn't expecting her to forget, either. Fans never forget anything that involves their idols.
After waking up early in the morning and working on repairing more of the stuff that had come in to the shop, Jaslene finally got a bit of a break. It was still a bit too early for her to consider it being lunch time for people, so she stuck around home, trying to figure out how to improve upon Mexxie. After about an hour of work and checking the insides of Mexxie closely, she notices a pair of small cogs that were unnecessary, and just taking space and time. She quickly removes them and make the rest of the machinery more streamlined and closes her invention once more.
She then starts to set up another sequence, the same one she had shown Rumble yesterday on the beach and places another assortment of parts in front of the machine. She then presses the button on top of Mexxie and mechanical hands rise up from the box and start to work on the parts, working smoother and less clumsily as the box that she used yesterday. She counts the time it takes for Mexxie to assemble the squirrel. Just removing those two cogs had made the process five seconds faster and less clunky, even the ear was screwed on the right way. Perfect.
Then she looks at the clock. Yikes, it had been hours since she started. It was lunch time. She lifts her safety goggles to her forehead, having forgot them there while fixing some more... dangerous projects and stands up. She resets Mexxie and closes her toolbox, only hanging on to her usual wrench that is sitting in the front pocket her overalls.
"Dad, I'm gonna take a break! I've been working for hours, I'll be back uhh... in a couple of hours, max!"
"*sighs* Sure honey, just remember you'll have some work to do when you get back."
"Will do dad, see you a bit later!"
She then walks out of the repair shop and starts making her way towards the junkyard, jogging the whole way. Rumble had said she could come around and talk, and meeting with him would be something she wouldn't miss for the world.

Rumble set down his wrench and looked at the clock. Yep, lunch break was starting right now. He went to the kitchen and prepared a sandwich for himself, expecting the doorbell to ring anytime soon. The mechanic was certainly expecting Jaslene to not be late, for he gave her a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Rumble walked towards a ladder and climbed towards the roof of his workshop. He advanced along the roof tiles and sat on the edge of the roof above his front door, trying to catch sight of his fan somewhere. He expected her to come within the next five minutes or so.
And indeed, a couple minutes later Jaslene appears on the junkyard. She remembered where Rumble's workshop was, having walked near it multiple times while looking for something repairable in the junkyard. When she sees Rumble sitting on top of his workshop, Jaslene blinks. So he was waiting for her? That was... flattering? Or to be expected?
Shrugging, she continues on and walks the rest of the way to the workshop, waving excitedly at Rumble.
"So uhh... here I am Rumble. Mind if I come in? Or uhh... up there?"

Rumble waves back at his visitor, though he doesn't smile back. The mechanic continues munching on his sandwich before replying to her.
"Right, a few things I gotta say first. One, no touching anything unless I give you permission to. Two, there's a lot of stuff scattered 'round the floor, so be sure not to trip and break something. That would be bad, and we don't want bad things."
Rumble eats the last of his sandwich and hops down the roof. He lands on both feet, not seemingly hurt by the fall somehow.
Jaslene smiles and nods, causing her safety glasses to drop on top of her eyes for a moment before she lifts them up to her forehead again.
"There's a fair bit of clutter back at the repair shop, so I'm used to navigating my way around. Aaaand... uhh... no questions, about the rules at least."
She giggles a bit and looks at Rumble. Seeing him this close without him telling her to get away was... an experience, especially with the reputation the champion had regarding his personality.

"'Kay, I trust you've got enough common sense not to do anything stupid then."
Rumble slams open the door and leads his visitor into his cluttered workshop. Even at the entrance, one could already deduct that Rumble's workshop was absolutely messy and disorganized; random scraps of metal laid haphazardly throughout the floor, screws and bolts widely disseminated the ground without any distinguishable pattern, and half-completed machines sat lopsided on various tables. A stack of blueprints rested on the edge of one of the work tables.
How Rumble ever managed to work in an area like this, no one knew.
The mechanic pulled up a stool and seated himself upon it. Rumble put his elbow on his leg and rested his chin on the palm of his hand as he faced Jaslene. "Sorry fer the place bein' a mess, I haven't had the time to clean yet. Anyways, whad'ya wanna talk about while I've got the break?"
Damnit! She should've prepared something to talk about with Rumble. What to do what to do...
"What do you think of my uhh... invention? I got a better working one back home, I improved it a bit today. Needless gears got in the way and removing them made it a fair bit faster to do stuff, and less clunky as well."
Jaslene rubs her neck awkwardly and blushes a bit. Why didn't she think of something to talk about?
Post by The Mechanized Menace on Jun 20, 2013 3:03:23 GMT -5
"An invention? Hah, I wouldn't exactly call it an invention. There's been mechanical hands made in the past multiple times. I made a pair myself once. Sure, yours might be the first to operate in your own way, but it certainly isn't the first pair of hands ever," the mechanic chuckled.
Rumble snatched a bottle of water on the table behind him and gulped it down. He set the bottle aside and grinned at Jaslene before continuing.
"Nevertheless, I think your machine's pretty impressive, actually. It does its job well and I'm guessing you built it yerself, which is real cool. It's not everyday you see yordles building a two-hand machine, or anything, really."
Rumble leaned back, placing his elbow on the table behind him.
"So is that all ya came to my workshop for, or didja have something else to tell me?" he chuckled.
Uhh... sorry, I've had a busy day. My father can be a bit o' a slavedriver at times haha... I've not had time to think about questions.
Jaslene laughs nervously and has a slight blush on her cheeks. She should've thought of something to ask. What now? What could she ask? This was not good... "Think Jaslene think," she tells herself in her mind.
Humm... Do you have any suggestions on what I could do to get better? Or uhh...
What'd you think could be improved on the machine?
And uhh... not to make it so much about my stuff... What'd you think of the current events and such? What happened in Demacia an' all that. You got somethin' under work to protect Bandle no doubt.
She shows a sly smirk to Rumble, scratching her neck.

"No time to think of questions? Not even on the way here?" Rumble laughed. He leaned forward and folded his hands on his lap. "That's fine, we kin talk about anything here. Well, almost anything.
Anyways, suggestions... Well, fer one, if you wanna make a good first impression on someone, you could not do a cuddle attack on 'em," the mechanic chuckled jokingly. "But in all honesty, yer already pretty skilled at machinery for your age. If you keep doin' what you like, then you'll get better with time."
Rumble leaned back again and put his hands behind his head. He hadn't looked into Jaslene's machine very much. "Hmm... For your machine, depends on what you need, really. You could always add more limbs, add more hands, add more buttons for more precise commands 'n movement. However, if you're someone as good as me," and Rumble gave a smug grin at this point, "then one pair of hands are all ya need to do anything." Rumble lifted his hands in front of him and waggled them for a few seconds before dropping them to his sides.
"As for Demacia and invasions and such, we're pretty safe for now. No sign of Void or evil ghosts or anything within the vicinity, but I am workin' on designing a machine to protect the city. It's secret, though, so I can't tell you," Rumble chuckled.
Oi, it ain't that far from home to here ya know. Our repair shop is pretty close to the junkyard, because we come around here now and then to see if we can't find something that can't be fixed. It takes less time to get here than I can think of good questions in.
Jaslene winks and smiles, laughing a bit. It'd been a long day already, and it would continue after Rumble was done with his lunch break.
So, he was building something for Bandle's defense? Well that was sorta... obvious, but still good to know.
Also, there are some opportunities you just can't miss, but hey, it's better than what most fans woulda done. They woulda pounced on you and not let go, now would they? Be happy it was just me.
And sure, of course there's some "top secret" stuff going on that you can't talk about, huh?
Addin' more limbs to my Mexxie would be a bad idea really. The insides of that box are a bit tight as they are, and adding more limbs would need more gears, more controls, more everything, and I just don't have room for that all in it.
Post by The Mechanized Menace on Jul 1, 2013 1:56:41 GMT -5
"Eh, no one really tries to 'pounce' on me nowadays, and that's smart of 'em not to, 'cause someone always gets hurt when they do, and it's not me."
Rumble jokingly laughs and takes a chug out of his water bottle. He winks back at Jaslene as he sets the bottle back down.
"Heh, I'm only jokin', of course. I ain't keen on hurtin' almost-innocent yordle civilians. Much."
Rumble decides to ignore Jaslene's comment about the top-secret plans in Bandle City. He intended to spend his lunch break talking about fun and interesting things, not politics and secret operations.
"Anyways, I'm sure there's a way to add more limbs to yer machine. You might think that the box is too small, but with the progress technology is makin' today, you'd be surprised at the stuff science kin make, given the right brains and the right tools. Heck, our city would be number one in technology, if it weren't for that hairfreaked, subservient, lowly, lapdog-like, son-of-a gun..." Rumble quickly stopped himself from rambling on about his most hated enemy. He coughed and turned away slightly, embarrassed about showing a bit of immaturity in front of his guest.
"Sorry, apologies for the language, I must have not been watchin' myself there."
Oh please Rumble, I hear worse talk than that every time I visit Ron's old bar, The Yordle and the Bard. You'd be surprised how some nice yordles can talk after a few drinks.
Jaslene laughs and shakes her head.
Ron bein' a childhood friend of mine.
Anyhow, about the box, it's too small to add anythin' with the parts I have access to. You may have some stuff I've never heard of Mr. League Champion, but an ol' repair shop has to deal with regular parts.
She grins and winks, not being too serious about the thing.
Whenever I come across somethin' that lets me add stuff to Mexxie, I'll be sure to add some. I'll probably end up makin' a new box though, with better controls. There ain't much room to add more switches and levers on the front of the current model.

"Well, I don't drink. Bad things tend t'happen when yordles drink."
Rumble shuddered slightly, reminiscing about the time Teemo got drunk next to him. He coughed slightly and looked back at Jaslene.
"Anyways. Miss, I live in a junkyard, so most of my machines were built with materials that are no better than yours. I'm pretty impatient waiting for the imported materials to come," Rumble chuckled. He scratches his head for a moment before looking at Jaslene with a serious expression again. "Listen up, 'cause this is important. It ain't just our materials that's expanding, our knowledge of what we can do with those materials are expanding as well. Decades ago, no one would have been able to build that machine box of yours given the exact same components, so just 'cause you don't have access to fancy schmancy things doesn't mean yer machines have t'be limited by them as well. It's not you not having the right stuff to use, it's you still having much to learn."
Rumble takes a last swig out of his water bottle and throws it behind him into the recycling bin.
"Don't feel bad about it though. Everyone's still got a lot t'learn, even me. No one's mister perfect after all, though I sure wish I was."
