JUNE 30th 23 CLE
After having left Vi's loft for a while, Jayce decided to stop by the lab of someone he didn't think he would have been seeing again outside the fields.
Viktor...
The name made him shudder, and he clutched his hammer tight. The other citizens simply stopped and stared at him. Probably because of the reputation he created since his last visit.
He stopped in front of the laboratory, and stared at the cameras with one eye.
Deep inside the laboratory Jayce found himself before resided the very man who had made him what he was today, for if it had not been for Viktor's hostile abduction of the arcane crystal many moons ago the Defender of Tomorrow might be yet another wrench-monkey to the leaders of Piltover. In the office located far from the entrance the Machine Herald sat, contemplating what to do next as he oversaw a simple evaluation of his autonomous shoulder-arm that acted as one of his most trusted and even deadly instruments. He had no idea that a certain someone would have the gall to come here once more, nor was he aware of the situation surrounding a certain former Enforcer.
The laboratory seemed dull and lifeless, save for the roar of the machinery that had somehow managed to elude Jayce's wrath, and Viktor's own disinterest in securing the perimeter of his personal sanctum did nothing to circumvent that. As far as anyone was concerned, the augmented Zaunite revolutionary was as alone as a kitten amongst a litter of puppies.

A heavy metal door would slide open before the Defender, a quiet voice would sound as what looked to be four revolvers emerged from the darkness, "Well then..." A man emerged, a cocky smirk upon his face as his yellow eyes locked onto Jayce's, the iris's would look to rotate as the augmented lens inside them adjusted to focus upon what Ozzy saw as an enemy of Viktor's, that fact alone automatically made him an enemy to Ozzy himself. The defender would notice two metal arms had been attached to the mans shoulder blades, each one holding a rather powerful revolver that was now aimed at Jayce's face.
"What do we have the pleasure of greetin' you in a place like this hmm?" Four hammers on four revolvers would click as they were pulled back, "State your business or greet your maker."

Jayce gulped, staring straight at the revolvers pointed at him. Those things are huge! A follower of him no doubt. He quietly nodded, stepping back to assess the full situation. Pulling out his hammer now would surely mean his doom, so he calmly rose his hand up as a signal of peace.
"I just... want to talk with your master, Viktor? We've known each other for... quite a while, and I want to catch up to times."
His body was still tense from the firearms pointed straight at him, ready to fire at anytime. Stating his business didn't make him feel any relieved, but he couldn't tell simply because the man's expression was static.
A quiet chuckle sounded from behind the large revolvers, "Master? He's a brother. Saved my life, I'll give mine to him if it comes down to it in the end." Taking a step forwards, the revolvers inch closer, "I also know who you are, and your past with 'im." He doesn't turn, but when he speaks it was aimed at Viktor who could no doubt hear them from where he was watching, "Vik, letting him in? Or blasting his brains halfway across Zaun?"
If Viktor gave the okay, Ozzy would step to the side and allow Jayce passage only to follow him with his revolvers aimed at the Defender's spine.
If Viktor said to kill, he would try to do exactly that.
Having watched the entire thing via the surveillance drones he had recently constructed - marvelous little things, able to record visuals and audio before them and nearly instantaneously project them to a receiver that was set up in the office - Viktor sat upon the chair in the office deep within the facility that was his laboratory, his arms folded across his chest. It was quite concerning that the Defender would have the nerve to set foot in Zaun once more, let alone approach his laboratory without even the tiniest shred of worry or fear. If he didn't know any better, he might even assume that Jayce had come to finish what they had started long ago - a final battle to end their conflict and decide who was the superior inventor.
But he wasn't the assuming type, and was quite intrigued at this turn of events. He spoke into a small node nearby, a microphone, which caused his voice to blare on some intercom system the two at the entrance would hear. "Please direct the Defender to the office, Ozzy. A fight ending in either of your deaths would do nobody any good at this time."

Andrei approached Jayce from behind, heard what Viktor told Ozzy and Jayce, "See, I told you he'd look past the incident." He walked up to Jauce and gave him a pat on the back, not as hard as the one in Piltover, "Looks like we have another follower too, damn, my brother and I must have been gone longer than I thought. Hey Viktor, look who I convinced to join us!" He assumed Viktor both saw and hear him. "Let's go, don't want to keep him waiting."

"Oh... erm. Right." He nodded, before entering the lab.
The hallways twisted and turned, with metallic displays set all over the place. A few of Viktor's augmented acolytes littered the workspaces, all of them stopping to stare at Jayce, their faces puzzled as if to say 'what the hell is he doing here?' He looked past them, and kept on walking until he reached Viktor's laboratory, Andrei still following behind him. Knocking on the door thrice, he hummed to himself waiting for a reply.
Ozzy followed Jayce, his revolvers pointed to different parts of the man's spine. Should he even twitch the wrong way, Ozzy would blast the man to pulp. His glowing yellow eyes could be seen from behind his glasses, focusing upon Andrei for a moment, not knowing him personally. Already he decided he probably wouldn't get along with the man.
Viktor watched the three progress through his laboratory via the surveillance droned he'd set up at various vantage points, as he himself sat at the desk staring at the miniature screen displaying the imagery the little constructs projected back. Suffice it to say, the Machine Herald watched over all that happened within the confines of his facility. After a few minutes the three men made it to the office at the rear of the building, the knocking causing Viktor to push himself up from his seat.
The time had finally come for him to face his anti-thesis once again, but he was certain that things would not turn out the same as before. Jayce was treading on thin ice as it was, and if he intended to cause any further hindrance to the Glorious Evolution's fruition then he would be sorely disappointed. Viktor opened the door to the office slowly but surely, revealing his entire form before the three who stood at the door - nothing had changed at all about his general appearance, though his mask appeared to be somewhat tarnished. "Welcome back, Andrei. And thank you, Ozzy." he addressed his two acolytes - one of his Brotherhood and the other a lesser follower - with clear familiarity before setting his masked gaze upon the man who had risen up against his goals.
It was quite the surreal experience, standing face to face with the man who had not only raided your laboratory and destroyed the most promising power source ever discovered, but also saw fit to swear opposition to your goals and represented the very ideals you decided to disregard entirely. This was the man who had become associated with him as a personal rival, a man who had been considered by the general populace to be Viktor's total foil. Where Viktor was seen as a villain and criminal, Jayce was hailed as a hero and protector of the very same city-state that had lost a valuable asset. The Herald's autonomous arm curled its fingers one by one restlessly as it sensed its owner's tension, and a gentle hum was its way of not only reassuring its master of his safety but to warn the potential threat posed by the Defender's mere presence. Viktor said nothing about this, instead deciding to greet his opponent with a single nod of his head. "Defender of Tomorrow....The pride of Piltover....A hero to your people for thwarting the nefarious Machine Herald's vile machinations....Jayce, to what do I owe the honor of your visit...?" There was only a hint of bitterness in his tone, and there was a rather obvious emphasis on the word 'honor', but overall Viktor's voice retained its monotonous demeanor.

He was finally here, face to face with the man that had crushed his hopes in the past, his exact opposite in beliefs and morals. Nothing much had changed, only that now he was a champion of the league, just like the augmented man before him was as well. He nodded meekly, but he stood well to his virtue, his hammer glowing in the pale light reflecting off the shiny surfaces of reinforced steel. He inched closer, his azure eyes staring deep into the sparked eyes of the Herald, his mouth forming a frown upon his face. It was not a look of aggression, however, moreso regret.
What was he doing here anyway? Augmenting was not of his best interest, nor was apologizing. The only thing he could do here is... talk? Catch up to times? Probably not a good idea either...
"H... hello, Viktor. It's a pleasure to meet you again." He smiled, extending his gloved hand for the Herald to shake.
A pleasure. The very notion of any pleasantness between the two of them was laughable at best, utterly ridiculous at worst. Viktor possessed no fondness, no acclimation to the man before him, though he did accept that he was in part at fault for the rise of the well-received Defender of Tomorrow. Had he not done what he did at that time, in that moment of pure and unfettered desperation....Viktor shook his head to clear his mind of such thoughts. Reminiscence was unnecessary at this juncture, more important was Jayce's reasons for being here. "There is no need for such formality, Jayce. We are both inventors, tinkerers at heart although I have made some choice modifications to mine. And we are equals as far as the League is concerned, so you are free to act casually here and now as long as you do not mean any harm to myself or anything else." the Herald said, his artificially inflected voice attempting to sound reassuring.
The mechanically augmented Zaunite moved back from the doorway as he let the door open fully, allowing the three men before him access to his office. Unfortunately, there were only a pair of chairs to be seen once inside, though Viktor himself didn't seem to mind going over to lean back against the wall next to the single desk opposite the entrance. His arms were folded across his chest as he stared with intensity at his self-made rival through tinted lenses in his false face made of reinforced metal. "Feel free to have a seat, Jayce. One of them is yours if you wish, or you can stand too. Either makes no difference to me." The aforementioned chairs were simple in design, made of metal with thick legs and a modest leather cushion.
Ozzy remained at the door, leaning against the door frame with his flesh arms crossed. His eyes glaring at the defender, completely willing to blast his skull across the lab. Why Viktor was willing to talk to the pompous jack-ass was beyond him. But, what Viktor says, goes. His hostile gaze wouldn't leave Jayce once. Ozzy was usually good natured and Viktor would no doubt be able to tell the difference in his attitude.

Jayce nodded, leaning against the wall opposite of his 'nemesis'. He set his hammer to the right, and then looked down for a moment, his arms crossed. What he had told Andrei was most likely just an excuse to see his rival again, and it was all in good nature - he simply wanted this feud between them to stop. To make peace...
"Alright, if you insist." He lifted his head up, and took out the case in his pocket, looking at it for awhile with worried eyes. It was just a year ago since it happened, and this was the only thing left of it.
The crystal...
"Here, I want you to have this." His hand extending out with the case for Viktor. "It's... a fragment of the power source a year ago. Do you remember it? I've thought about your words ever since you've... visited. I want this rivalry between us to stop." He gulped, looking to the side nervously, at Ozzy, and at Andrei.
Viktor noticed Ozzy's shift in attitude, having grown to know the former drifter well enough to be able to tell how he felt at any given time. The four-armed gunslinger was normally rather composed and serene, but was now on edge akin to an animal that found itself in the presence of someone or something that it did not trust whatsoever. He didn't say anything to his brother-in-arms, instead keeping his own focus on his rival. He noted how Jayce immediately set his weapon aside, which set him slightly at ease, though not to the point of not being on guard. He watched as the Defender removed a case from his coat, then listened rather bemusedly to the other Champion's words that followed.
Viktor reacted instantaneously, much in a manner far too contrary to what was expected of him. His body jerked as he pushed himself off of the wall, leaning forward slightly with his normal arms raised slightly at his sides. "This...! It's....But....You....And the battle....I thought....How did....." For the first time in the men's history, the Machine Herald was unable to form a cohesive statement. The contents of the case......a notable shard from the power crystal that Viktor had relinquished from Jayce's study a year ago, which the Defender had saw fit to shatter into millions of useless pieces during their following battle. The mechanically augmented Zaunite stared long and hard at it, maintaining the uncharacteristic posture he was in for the duration, before finally straightening himself and letting his arms fall to his sides.
"What are your terms?" Viktor knew from experience, that when something seemed too good to be true it likely wasn't. Viktor had once been foolish enough to trust another individual unconditionally, and paid for it with the loss of his research notes and lack of credit to the one piece of his work that was meant to propel him into success in Zaun. That man had forever earned Viktor's eternal enmity, such that his feelings of intense and unadulterated rage at his former mentor were every much as part of is being as his mind. Never again. Viktor had vowed that he would not allow himself to be used and betrayed by another, that he instead would use others until he needed them no longer.
