The good old smithy that once belonged to Poppy's father, Blomgrun, still sits atop it's hill, alone, just outside of Bandle City. As usual, no smoke was billowing from it's mighty furnace, but there was an unusually active air floating about today...
It was the day Poppy was returning after a long year of work, and with the mayor's permission the yordles of Bandle were going to host her a welcome home party! This was a surprise, of course, so most of the yordles were hiding in inconspicuous corners of the smithy's main entry room, Teemo sitting in the middle. Their spy had recently returned with the news that Poppy was nearing, so everyone in the recently cleaned household was as quiet as a mouse, waiting for the Ambassador to arrive.
Inside the smithy, every room had been neatly picked up and cleaned, the dust in the forge cleared away and prepped for use. It was a known fact that Poppy enjoyed spending time in the smithy, so they assumed that she would be putting it to good use. Food and drink were also available on platters in the main living quarters, and the kitchen had been restocked with fresh food, good for the time Poppy would be spending during her vacation.

After walking around the City for a while, Poppy heads for her father's old smithy. Her plans were to clean the place up, not being able to do so since the fateful delivery all those years ago due to her busy schedule.
She stops in front of the smithy for a moment, looking at the building thoughtfully, thinking about the last time she was actually able to spend time properly here. Back when her father was still alive. She sighs and steps inside, not aware of what was planned for her.

The minute Poppy stepped in she'd be face-to-face with the scout captain, smiling brightly at her with the dark room looming behind him. He chuckles, his finger on the light switch. With a nod and a wink, he prepares to light the room.
"Told you I could do it." he says flatly.
Suddenly the lights were flicked on and all of the party guests sprung from their hiding places shouting "Surprise!" in unison. There wasn't any special confetti or streamers, because that would have only messed up the freshly cleaned room and polished photos of Poppy and her father that the community as a whole had managed to scrounge up and frame for her. These pictures of what were hopefully happy childhood memories could be found framed around the house, a gift for the Ambassador from her fellow yordles.
Teemo steps forward and gives her a warm hug. "Welcome home, Poppy."
He releases the ambassador, stepping aside as the crowd of yordles makes a path for her to enter, each eager to give her a handshake or hug as she moves further into the house.

Poppy blinks and looks around at the people in the smithy. She was honestly hoping to be able to relax in peace and quiet... but this didn't seem that bad either. Her expression stays at it's usual serious look.
"Well.... this was a bit unexpected I must admit..."
She blinks again at the hug and seems a bit awkward, turning to look at the pictures around the room, sighing at the memories they invoke.
"... Thank you Captain."
She continued to look awkward as she moved through the room and as other yordles hugged her. She makes her way to the middle of the room and takes up one of the framed pictures, merely looking at it in silence.

After everyone's been able to greet Poppy, the real party begins. Most of the guests move over to the kitchen as a few of them enter and begin handing out the platters of food and the drinks. Some go to the living room to sit and talk in front of the fireplace, while others go through the newly cleaned house with awe, having heard the stories of Poppy's past but never having been able to visit the actual home of Blomgrun.
Despite the active nature of the party, everyone was doing there well best not to make a mess. If food or drink were to fall on the floor, there immediately was a yordle there to clean it up. A few guards were even posted around the house to watch for intruders or kick out any yordle that got a little too much mead in their system and got out of hand.
Teemo himself went off to grab a sandwich and a glass of honey mead as soon as possible, standing in a corner and silently watching Poppy. He didn't know much about her, but he knew she was a good person. His only hope was that she enjoyed the party today, and would be able to relax for the duration of her vacation.
Many yordles in the room could tell Poppy was deep in thought as she stared at the photo. One mother had to hold back her child who'd tagged along to see the ambassador, but eventually the little girl broke free and scuttled up to Poppy, patting her arm with a small hand.
"Hiiiii Poppy! Um... are you happy to be hoooome now? You look kinda saaaad..."

Poppy blinks at the girl who addresses her, looking down in surprise for a moment before her expression turns a bit softer.
"Yes... it is good to be home after all this time. It is just that... these pictures remind me of certain unfortunate events in the past... things I want to remember, yet forget at the same time..."
She sighs and kneels down to the girl's level, ruffling her hair and looking friendlier than normal.

The young girl giggles and hugs Poppy without warning, her short, dark hair and flamboyant dress bouncing with the movement. "Hihihi, my name's Miiiira."
The girl's mother, still wearing her baker's apron, steps over and places a hand on Mira's shoulder. "Alright Mira... no need to pounce on the ambassador like that." Despite her choice of words, the mother couldn't hide a smile from seeing the scene.
((OC thieving OP. Hope you don't mind if I use Mira once in a while until you bring her here (if you ever do)))

Rumble strolled into the smithy and glanced around his surroundings. Chatty yordles filled the noise around him. The mechanic noticed that there were no decorations hung around the roms. Moreover, everything was spotless and there were many yordles socializing with each other.
Rumble didn't like that there were many yordles.
He was used to being a loner. Rumble didn't like being around many yordles. There wasn't any specific reason why, it just irked him. Rumble gave out a huff and strolled around the rooms until he found Poppy. Rumble tapped her on the shoulder, not attempting to give a smile.
"So a little birdie told me there was a party at your smithy today... Mind you, I'm only here 'cause I gotta wait for my workshop's ventilation system to reboot." After making the obviously lame excuse, Rumble glanced around the room for a bit before speaking again. "So what's up with ya, ma'am?"

Poppy blinks as she is hugged, carefully placing the girl back on the ground a moment later.
"Well... hello Mira. And it's fine ma'am. Your daughter seems quite... friendly. I am just not used to hugs and such."
She then turns to Rumble and raises an eyebrow.
"'What's up with me?' Would you please elaborate a bit Rumble?"
((Teemo you OC stealin... xD Yeah I'll be bringing Mira around, she's just too much fun to pop around with. Gotta reset her back to the "first version" of her though :P ))

Rumble raised an eyebrow at Poppy, then he chuckled. "I'm asking ya how your life has been so far. Good, bad, busy, relaxing, or something else? Though what I've heard, you're a pretty busy yordle these days, miss." Rumble smiled and placed both of his hands into his pockets.

Poppy shrugs and looks at the pictures for a moment longer before answering to Rumble.
"I suppose so. My schedule is quite unforgiving most of the time, this is one of the rare opportunities I have managed to get to visit my home. My life is quite.... tiring, but it is important work. How about yourself Rumble?"

"I'm a pretty busy yordle like yourself, miss. Probably not as busy as you, of course, but I still got things I have to do." Rumble chuckled and glanced around the room. "So is this just a welcome home party, or is this something else?"
Post by The Iron Ambassador on Jan 12, 2013 17:02:38 GMT -5
"I suppose a 'welcome home' party. I cannot say I know, this was a... surprise for me when I entered. A nice gesture I suppose."
Poppy glances at Rumble and then at everyone in the party, not exactly enjoying the amount of people in the celebration. She did like the gesture, but perhaps the way it was done was a bit much for her.

It was starting to get late, and several of the yordles who brought their children along were starting to head out. A few of them waved goodbye to Poppy, more children attempting to get a hug before they left, and together the families returned to their homes back in the city.
Teemo was off in the living room at this point, enjoying his second cup of mead and noticing that the room was nearly emptied. His pen had run out of ink, having signed another three copies of his book as well as a few other various items, and so he went back to the main room to approach the ambassador.
"So Poppy... I know you wanted something a little calmer for your welcome home, but I thought something like this would be nice. There were supposed to be a few more guests from the League, but I guess they never showed up. Anyway, was this short get-together fun?"
The scout took another sip of his mead, which actually emptied his cup. Promptly he threw it in the garbage along with his empty pen, and reached for a third one.

Poppy was sitting in a chair in the main room as Teemo approached, looking a bit awkward still about the party. She nods at the Scout Captain.
"I do appreciate the gesture Captain... I'm just not the type of person for a celebration such as this. I would have been happy to just be home and clean up. But... this is not too bad either."
She takes up a glass and looks at the table, having a couple of different types of drinks in bottles there. She takes the bottle barely even touched so far... a bottle of Piltovian wine, and pours herself a glass of it. She takes a sip from it carefully and leans back in the chair.
