In spite of what both were trying to say, Heimerdinger was still far from believing that this was anything but a romantic overture. He took out a foldable stool out of his pocket, and putting it down, unfolded it to reveal a rather big double-sided ladder, from which he climbed up, high enough so in spite of his yordle sized stature, he was now eye to eye with the Defender of Tomorrow.
"Defender, there is no need to be quiet at this point."

Tybresa let out a sigh, rolling her eyes at Jayce's answer ... she gently placed her hand on his shoulder, patting it reassuringly before she stepped forward, looking at Heimerdinger.
Allow me to explain, Revered Inventor ... after all, I am the cause of this whole awkward situation.
She let out a sigh and closed her eyes for one moment, trying to recollect her thoughts ... there was no point to beat around the bush with Heimerdinger - indeed, he was far too intelligent to see through should she lie.
To be fair, I ... today I have acted unlike anything anyone could imagine - especially Jayce. I am not certain you have noticed, perhaps you have - but I have been absent for two months now ... and I have recently returned back.
The reason for my absence was ... She hesitated. No matter the truth, it was a hard pill to swallow. The words seemed to refuse to come out from her mouth ... she averted her gaze.
Personal matters. Painful ones - ones I found myself quite hard to adjust to ... and hence my delayed return. And it has damaged my capabilities to think rationally and fulfill my duties as it was expected to me.
She looks at Jayce at with an apologetic expression, her blue eyes showing great traces of regret and sorrow.
I lashed out at perhaps the only one who genuinely cared and I ended up not only hurting myself in the process ... but I hurt him, too. There are ... no words or actions to describe how sorry I am, and I will always carry that regret on my soul to the very grave.
She let out a sigh, crossing her arms to her chest as she nervously chewed her lower lip - so far, so good. But how was she supposed to explain the scene the Revered Inventor had witnessed? She blinked her eyes - she had ... an odd taste on her tongue right now. It was an unknown, salty, bitter taste. She turned to look at Jayce with an odd look, unable to stop the subtle flush of red creeping over her cheeks, for she realized her mistake - was that how his lips tasted?
She cleared her throat and nervously glanced at the ceiling as blurting out.
Tension sparked up and - ... She let out a gasp in realization and placed her hands on her hips, glaring angrily at Jayce. And just WHAT were you intending to do with that pill?!

Heimerdinger kept a stoic expression as he listened to Tybresa's explanation; so they were telling the truth...
...well, thankfully, he knew how to deal with situations like these. One particular speech he had in mind would resolve this whole situation... but he needed to be sure.
And so, he asked one last question before giving it.
"Well, it appears you were telling the true story... so tell me, what exactly was the topic that caused this whole debacle to begin with?"

"Ah... er..." Jayce fumbled around for words, but he had totally forgotten what had happened, the only thing left in his mind being the rage-filled words Tybresa shot at him.

Tybresa visibly winced in pain, letting out a sniffle as she turned to look away from both champions, staring at the other end of the hallway. She blinked often, trying to keep the urge to cry at bay ...
It would be a hard subject to speak of, no matter with whom. But if she would try to be vague about it, it would just pique the Inventor's curiosity even more. She swallowed dryly, feeling as if a desert had made its home in her mouth. Eventually, she felt the words rest on her tongue, awaiting to be spoken, though she avoided to look at any of them.
The death of my father has left me in quite a fragile state of mind. The Defender had the greatest misfortune to find himself in my presence at the worst possible time, combined with misplaced condolences and ...
She let out a sigh.
A most unexpected, violent and hurting reaction occurred, which will indubitably leave permanent scars - on the both of us.

So, there was trouble in both of them, Heimerdinger realized; both here hit with plagues of doubt, and it seemed as if they couldn't find a way to get out.
Well, it was situations like these that his experience in hardships - even if perhaps not in the same realm - that they could finally work out here.
And so, he parted with with a word - or rather, a speech - of wisdom, in the hopes that both Jayce and Tybresa could learn from.
"Jayce... Tybresa... please listen for just five minutes."
"Let me tell you both something..."
"...that both of you already know."
"The world isn't all fine, dandy and nice. It's a very mean and nasty place, and it doesn't care how much you've already been through. It will continue to hit at you until you give in... or you tell it in the face to stop and move on!"
"You, me, and nobody is going to hit as hard as life. But it's not about how hard your blows are. It's about how hard you can take the blows yourself, and move on from it!"
"How much you can take and keep moving forward. That is how the future can be assured!"
"That's how success and victory are achieved! Now if you know what you can do, then go out there and do what you can do..."
"...but you have to be willing to tolerate the pain, and not not diverting the blame to anybody, anything, or even yourself! Cowards do that and that's not you! You're better than that! Both of you!"
"You have to remember: it's not the critic who counts; not the person who points out how the stronger stumble, or where their deeds could have done them better. That's how tomorrow empowers its protectors!"
"It's the person who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, and yet continues to strive valiantly..."
"...they may err, may come short time and time again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming..."
"...but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends themselves in a worthy cause: the defense of Tomorrow!"
"The people... who at the best, know in the end the triumph of having succeeded, and who at the worst, if they fail, at least fails while daring greatly, so that their legacy shall never have led to the loss of our bright future!"
"This, my friends, is what I know that both of you stand for. This, my friends, is what I know you both are!..."
"...AND YOU'VE BOTH ALREADY MADE IT SO FAR - WOULD YOU GIVE UP NOW?!"
"If you couldn't get any of what I had just said, at least come away with this: you two are two of the finest people I have ever come to know. You both promised me to ensure Tomorrow will be as bright as ever; that it would never be lost or darken."
"So... I can only ask this single question:"
"Will you let Tomorrow fade away..."
"Or will you rise up, and fight for its defense... so that Tomorrow... will be brighter than ever before?!"
Finally, the Inventor, having finished his speech, slightly lowered his head and started to breathe slightly heavily. He had never invest as much emotion as he had done there... but if that didn't work, nothing could.
He could only hope that Jayce and Tybresa realized what they had to do.

When Heimerdinger asked for their attention, Tybresa complied despite the small tear forming at the corner of her eye. She nodded her head weakly and would listen to the Revered Inventor's speech intently, though she visibly flinched, startled when he had raised his voice to highlight his point. Her expression fluctuated from sorrowful to shocked, from embarrassed to unreadable throughout the speech.
Save for the Professor catching his breath from the very passionate speech, silence weighted heavily upon the three - Tybresa had bowed her head deeply, her golden hair falling forward, briefly shadowing her face. She swallowed dryly as she felt her heart squeeze painfully ... for his words rung out truer than anything, anyone has ever told her. And they were harsh, the sort of harshness a mentor would show to his pupil after he has been disappointed - something she hadn't experienced in so long, that made her think long and hard on what it was he meant to tell...
... when she finally raised her gaze, a tear was halfway rolling down her cheek, but her eyes did not reflect any trace of regret in them - instead, they flickered almost intensely with a renewed flame. Despite her quivering lower lip, her smile was encouraging and grateful as she looked at Heimerdinger. She nodded weakly at him, feeling she understood what she had to do.
She looked at Jayce, raising her hand and holding her open palm towards him, a gesture of goodwill. She smiled shyly at him as another small tear would roll down from her other cheek before she spoke out softly, yet loud enough for both of them to hear.
He's right. We have come so far, Jayce... we cannot permit to let ourselves hurt each other, after all the things we have gone through, together or otherwise alone.
She let out a sigh. I am not saying that my mistake should be simply overlooked ... I did the fatal mistake - I desperately clung to the past and refused to let the present open my eyes. And with that, I have deeply hurt the future ...
... but I am going to redeem myself, one way or another. I will cut my links to yesterday and I will let today guide me to make tomorrow a better day.
She let out a weary sigh and stared into Jayce's eyes, her blue ones flickering with untold emotion. She swallowed dryly before she continued to speak.
Will you forgive me for yesterday?
Will you guide me today ... so that I may defend tomorrow, at your side?

"..." Jayce looked at Tybresa silently, swallowing his words.
"I..." He looked to Heimerdinger for a second, looking worried, before nodding, thanking the yordle scientist silently. He then looked back to Tybresa, his eyes filled with hope, yet a glint of despair still left over. Kneeling over, and caressed her cheek, biting his lower lip. He stared straight at her, not moving, unflinching, yet filled with emotion.
"I... I forgive you."
He shook his head to the side, before looking back again. "I... I want to defend tomorrow... with you."

As Heimerdinger looked on the reactions of the two, and seeing them finally realizing what they needed to do, he could but only help to have a single tear come out of his left eye.
They were rising up to the challenge...
...today might be a day to woe, but they would continue on to ensure the future would be bright.
"...my work here is done," he stated simply, though quietly, a sniff or two coming in between.
With that, he hopped off the bench, and left the scene, exiting the corridor back into the main hallway.
They may stumble, they may fall...
...but in the end, they would join the rest in tomorrow's defense...
...and they would ensure tomorrow would accomplish wonders.
The hope that tomorrow's ideals would be realized was now finally at hand...

Tybresa could hear her heartbeat drum loudly in her ears as the silence pressed upon them all, anxiously awaiting Jayce's reaction - this would be the moment of truth. It could mean her redemption ... or damnation. All depending on the words the Defender would speak.
She was a little surprised when he leaned over to caress her cheek, yet ignored her open palm - in Demacia, it was not only a gesture of goodwill, but for a high-standing lady to offer her hand so ... it spoke volumes of the importance and trust she would bestow on her chosen one. But, then again - there was no way for him to know that, being from Piltover and all ... and yet, she couldn't help but feel disappointed at his ignorance.
Nevertheless, when he forgave her, Tybresa felt her heart brim with untold joy and hope, on the point she felt she was about to break in tears all over again. With a little bit of willpower, however, she managed to suppress it - instead, she let her happiness show by beaming towards the Defender.
And so we shall, Jayce. This day will die tonight - it is no exception. Why should we wait, when there is nothing to wait for? Our time is waiting right outside the door, and maybe ...
Tybresa turned to look towards Heimerdinger - only to notice, he wasn't there anymore. Her smile faded a little as she looked around for any trace of the Inventor - she wanted to thank him for all he did here - for Jayce, for himself, for Tomorrow ...
... and especially for her.
She let out a dejected sigh, quite saddened at missing her chance ... She turned to gaze at Jayce once again, continuing her speech in a hushed tone.

Jayce looked to Tybresa firmly, before smiling. He quickly embraced her, and then gave her a light peck on the cheek, before retreating, looking up.
"It's never a matter of maybe... tomorrow will only be bright... if we are willing to protect it with our life. We never look back, we live in the present, and we shape our future." He chuckled. He was the Defender of Tomorrow, after all.
"I'm sorry if I hurt you..."
He pat Tybresa on the back comfortably, still hugging her.

Tybresa returned Jayce's smile with her own, letting out a surprised gasp when he embraced her - and felt her cheeks flush red at the peck.
She blinked at him in disbelief at the sudden mood swings - she did not know (or imagined) the Defender of Tomorrow being such an affectionate, emotional man ... a thought had struck her like lightning, making her heart beat faster - was he acting like that only with her ...?
Nevertheless, she managed to nod weakly as he spoke, his words sinking in her mind and engraving themselves on her brain. She promised herself never to look back - if anything, for his sake.
She scoffed, lightly shaking her head - despite the heated blush in her cheeks, her voice was cool and collected.
Oh, Jayce ... it should be be me who should apologize ... it was my fault all of this had happened so.
She let out a soft sigh as she let go and took a small step out of the hug, taking Jayce's hand that had patted her on the back earlier into her own. She stared at it for several moments, a frown appearing on her face. The silence weighted heavily on both of them before she finally spoke, the regret tangible in her words.
I know we're supposed to look forward, but ... I can't move on so swiftly, Jayce. She swallowed dryly.
I remember everything - everything I loved. And I gave it away like it wasn't enough. But it's my mistake and it's hurting me - all the words I said and all you forgave ... How could I hurt you again?
She sighed and raised her gaze, staring at Jayce.
I think ... I can make it right. With one more try. Can we just ... start again?

Despite the initial stammering and the short but concise answer, Tybresa felt a wave of relief wave over her as the heavy weight of guilt finally fell off her heart. She squeezed Jayce's hand encouragingly one final time before she let go, instead clapping her hands in a small display of unhindered joy and giddiness.
Oh, Jayce! If you only knew how glad I am to hear that.
She nodded her head head once and looked at him with a solemn expression.
I promise you, you shall not regret it - I will /not/ let you down.
She let her gaze fall downward for a moment as she continued that sentence mentally. At least you, out of all the people ...
Tybresa lowered her hands before her, folding them neatly in a lady-like manner as she patiently awaited for Jayce's reaction ... mostly because, she did not know exactly -how- she was supposed to make things right.
Given time, she was certain she would find a way, but considering how today's events have all happened in the spur of a single, furious moment ...
