Teemo remains silent, his ears dropping ever so slightly. He never learned much about farmers around Bandle, let alone their prices, and he knew even less about farmers around Ionia. Most of the other scouts are in the same boat, being mainly from the city. However, after a brief silence, a sturdier looking middle-aged scout scratches his chin, stating, "Well, if good seed back home costs about twenty rubees to the kilo, wouldn't it be a similar price here in Ionia?"

"Well, that's the average price here," said Kennen, "so you're on the right track. A good deal would be about 17 rubees to the kilo." He raised his voice a little and said "I'd suggest someone set aside money to buy seeds, to keep the disguise up."
Inwardly, Kennen smiled. Aside from the character breaks, everything was going smoothly, at least in his mind. He had expected to crash and burn by this point, so the smoothness was welcome.
Titus never knew about farmers and their lives at all. Though he didn't grew up in the city, he grew up where deciduous trees surrounded the house and the gravel road led straight to the gates of Bandle City. As far as he knows, he never knew how to plant veggies, feed animals, harvest, all those kinds of stuff. But seeing how Teemo reacted to the question gave him an idea to answer Kennen's question.
Probably his answer will be met with rebuttal from the ninja. Or maybe not as he kept his farmer persona active while asking him.
"Well... would they trade quality seeds for quality cattle?"

Kennen thought for a moment, before responding "Well, they would, but you don't have any, do you? Why make a proposition about something you don't have?" He smiled and added "Nice job staying in character, though!"
Kennen began to pace back and forth. "Speaking of cattle, don't buy any. It's far too expensive and it doesn't benefit a pretend farmer in the slightest. Instead, try to find a scythe, but instead of using it for crops, keep it as a weapon! Genius, eh?" He asked the question mostly because he had just come up with the scythe bit, but also to buy more time between mini-lessons.

Teemo scratches his chin, eyes turning to the ground in thought. There will certainly be a few scouts who'll be excited to get their hands on a scythe, which is a weapon that most have never laid a hand on before. Others, however, will probably make attempts at concealing something such as daggers or slingshots in their costumes. Before he's able to bring the question to the table a smaller scout speaks up, sounding rather disappointed.
"Will we really only be able to use scythes as weapons? Couldn't we use something with... projectiles?"
Post by Heart of the Tempest on Dec 26, 2013 23:36:58 GMT -5
"Well," replied Kennen, friendlier towards the (presumably) younger scout, "if you can find farm tools that shoot projectiles, then you should by those instead if you're less comfortable with melee." He chuckled and added "Bring me one, too. I'd like to see a farm tool that shoots things." His face reverted back to the serious expression he had been wearing, and he continued with the lesson. "I'm assuming all of you have weapons, anyway. Keep them concealed at all times. Farmers do NOT normally carry weapons," he glanced at Titus, "ESPECIALLY swords." And just to be sure, Kennen also added "Don't right any wrongs you see. Farmers aren't vigilantes."
Titus' eyebrows barely tilted to make a frown on his face as Kennen strictly instructed Titus never to use his own sword. Even more frustrating is that he can never be the hero like his father.
"But what if people... So no saving?" he asked with dismay.

"Not while you're disguised as farmers. said Kennen, glancing at Titus, "If you'd like to clean up the streets of Ionia after you've caught your assassin, clear it with the government and go for it." Clearing his throat, he stood upright, hands behind ihis back. "Now," he said in a very serious tone, "All that I have taught you is the basics of being a farmer. Don't expect any farmhand work offers. Any questions before you set out?"

Teemo glances around at his troops, some of which are thinking up new questions to ask. Most come up short, but one raises his hand and speaks up. "Farmers would carry basic provisions, right? Like food, water, seeds, tools, etc?"

Kennen paused, frowned, then slammed the heel of his hand into his forehead and rubbed the fur on it around for a moment. "All this fancy characterization jabber, and I completely forgot the basics!" he said exasperatedly. "Yes, farmers would take necessary provisions with them. Food, water, soap, tools, the like. Any other questions?"

Once again their is a long silence, several of the scouts gently shaking their heads. This time, none of them speak up or raise hands. Teemo turns to Titus, tilting his head slightly as if to inquire to the other yordle if he has any questions.
Titus turned to Teemo, slightly shaking his head to give a "no" out to him. As no other scout spoke or asked a question, the lesson must be near to an end.

Kennen waited for about 5 seconds before clearing his throat and snapping to a very military-esque pose, with his heels together and chin high. Now," he began, his voice containing authority, "Your training is complete. With the..." his voice and pose faltered, "Admittedly nonexistent power vested in me, I pronounce all of you ready for the field. When you are ready to leave, do so, remembering all that I have taught you. Catch that assassin, and make your city-state proud to have you in its military ranks!" He raised one finger while uttering the last sentence.
When the air was silent, he finally broke down, laughing and rolling on the ground. "Ahahahahahahaaaa! I can't do this anymore! I sound so stupid! Ahahaha!" He rolled around for a bit more before standing up and dusting himself off. "Aha... ha... Hoooooo... Yeah, you guys are ready to be farmers. The pose is more important than the accent... ha... and if anyone looks at you funny, just ignore them entirely." he wheezed out, grinning.

The scouts remain silent and show very little reaction to Kennen's display. A few eyebrows raise with concern when Kennen bursts into laughter, and some eyes roll, but other than that there is little movement among the ranks in disguise.
Teemo nods once Kennen seems to calm down, looking over his troops again. "Got that boys? We'll head out tomorrow. In the mean time, feel free to explore a little, maybe get to know the local life a bit better, but make sure you're all ready to leave first thing in the morning. And remember, from here on out we're farmers until that assassin is in our hands."
He turns back to Kennen with a small smile. "Thanks for the help, Ken. I'll let you know how things go when this is done. Maybe when we're waiting for Irelia to finish her duties with the Noxian I can fill you in on what's been happening back in Bandle."
