((Thank you to Ahri/Irelia for the suggestion. This has also been suggested by Scrod, and his thread can be found here.))
Yes, the time has come for another Maelstrom Tournament. But this time, it will be a battle of 5s on Summoner's Rift. The event will be held on the NA server but anyone can participate! Whether you're just starting out or a veteran, this tournament is open to any and all interested parties. Now, this thread is NOT the sign up thread - this is merely open for discussion of rules and other such things. Here are a couple of things:
1) Now, as stated in Scrod's thread, he suggested themes for city states. This will be a draft pick, basically 'tournament' in every sense of the word with bans and all that. No themes, free for all (except for the bans).
2) Only people who roleplay actively (or at least have a character they RP with, OC's included) on Maelstrom can join, otherwise it would be more of a 'Maelstrom and Friends' tournament.
3) Teams will be RANDOMIZED. This is to avoid stacking 5 gold players against 5 bronze players, or something that will cause cries of 'unfair'. Though I understand the nature of League is to be competitive, there is definitely rooms for some fun. If teams are randomized, this means that golds will be put with silvers and bronzes to make it equal. Unranked players and low leveled players (not including smurfs) will be considered individually.
4) Timezones. Very complicated to work around, but the easiest way to get around this is to have the TEAMS organize their own times versus their opponent where everyone is free. Failure to set a time will mean both teams take the loss. The agreed time must also be screenshot and sent to one of the admins to avoid foul play.
5) How winners are decided. Ahri suggested a 'point' system where each win would count for a point/points. This means that there will be NO brackets. Note that this idea is still very shaky and is still being fleshed out in terms of teams being able to take advantage of perceived 'weaker' teams. Please suggest other methods if you wish.
EVERYTHING IS OPEN TO DISCUSSION AND IMPROVEMENT. HAVE AT IT.

This seems balanced and fair. I'm all for these rules!
Also, League has recently released a 'Viewing Party Program.' I'm posting a link here in case you want to register our tournaments so that we can get the word about Maelstrom out to a larger audience! :D

Sometimes, when you've been stuck alone for long enough, you just have to break out into reality, with no regard for what position it may put you in. It is better to try and fail than to never try.
Hmm, isn't the viewing party something for people who are in the same area? Unless I'm reading it wrong. Anyway, thanks for the link! I'll check it out all the way from the bottom of the world.
Also as a note! Some people have expressed that Maelstrom should allow people who do not RP in this forum but queue with some members constantly. I'd like some input on this, if possible!

I would be interested in joining, but since about one and a half months ago, I am no longer on the NA server, so I'll probably have to smurf up and be at the mercy of free week champs if I'm going to join.

In the event this happens, we can certainly find an account for you to 'borrow' so to speak. I think I have a couple lying around.
Also to everyone: This is not the sign up thread! There will be one later if enough interest is gauged but I'm really looking for feedback on the set up of this tournament.
We could always jack the worlds style of groups if we have enough of people, best of 3 so "cheese" strats don't give unexpected easy wins.
That might be a little much, but just an idea.
It's a good idea but I'm just worried about time restraints, especially since end of year is coming up (though I'm not sure how the US sets up their schedule). If we get enough teams and if those teams are able to play 3 games back to back then that would be good but time does appear to be an issue for many so I'll have to keep an eye out for that.
