He waited for her. Alone in his same office he sat behind the desk with eyes distant. Some said he was withdrawn, some said uncaring, but only he knew what went on behind those eyes. He didn't have time for his pains. They could wait for nightfall. There were too many worries to count and too many problems to solve at once. All that mattered now was to prepare for the next move. The troops had been inspected, their movements assigned. Construction continued on the walls and the ruined battleground. Patrol was over, he would stay visible to the people. This was his relief, the mechanical working of a nation. It was enough to be lost in for now. This was but another step in a long list, and logically, he chose Luxanna Crownguard, prodigy of the College of Magic. Jarvan stared blankly at the door, and fought with himself.

Luxanna walks down the hall, her armor clinking with every step. Her mind racing as she approached Jarvan's office, all the message had said was that her presence had been requested by the prince and based on tone it was quite important. Striding down the hallway she gives the guard a slight smile as she steps up and knocks on the door.

Vincent followed Luxanna through the halls, he knew she had been called to by Jarvan. If only he could get a chance on being alone with the upcoming king he could end his pitiful life. His face didn't reflect his thoughts, he had a smile on his face as they walked. Once they arrived at the door he looked at the guard next to them and nodded at him.
Luxanna knocked and he took a step back, he knew he probably wasn't allowed inside the room, so he decided to stay outside and wait for Luxanna to return. "I'll wait outside while you talk to the crown prince, Miss. Crownguard." he said and stood next to the door.

Jarvan Iv broke with his thoughts when Lux entered the room. He skipped the formalities."Luxanna. Before I give you this task I need you to understand that certain information is to remain between you an I. We need every advantage we can scrape together, even if it just the element of surprise." he paused for only a moment, sure that his point had been made. "Take these documents. They convey to you authority over the college of Mages research group. They also detail a new project that is to be put at top priority. All other endeavors are to be tabled. Under you they will study the unnatural fear that the unliving used against us. It is to be studied and understood so that we may have a defense for it." Jarvan handed her the sealed envelope. "I have already mentioned this to one of the Leading body of Mages. He alone will be researching how this fear might be harnessed and used against our enemies. This is not to leave you lips. Simply listen and know. We cannot afford to be broken again. The soldiers are braver souls than most, but they are not spell proof. I want you to choose one other from the college and study which magics are most effective against the unliving and how it can be applied on the largest scale. The Dauntless Vanguard will be tasked with capturing undead specimens for your work." Jarvan IV was silent. This could be misunderstood by the public if knowledge spread that the esteemed College of Magic was researching necromancy. "Do you understand the risks?"

Tucking the envelop away, Lux thought for a moment about what she was being asked to do, the risks such a task had. “I do.” She said, her voice level, already beginning to of how to approach the problem. How did the magic affect a person, was it short or long term, were there any side effects, how effective would a mass solution be, if one could even work. All of these questions rushed through her mind. “I will head over immediately sir.” Turning on her heel, she opens the door and stepping back into the hallway, she turns towards Vincent, “We are off to the Mages college, I need to take care of a few things there.” She smiles as she heads down the hallway, her mind continuing to think of possible ideas.

Vincent had been standing idly outside Jarvan's office while waiting for Luxanna to come back out. The corridor had been silent so he had been able to hear what was spoken behind the closed door. "Secret information, eh? The Grand General will surely appreciate this then." he thought and listened as closely as he could without having the guard next to him getting to curious. "Mages? Why mages? Why not knights?" he kept thinking as Jarvan spoke. He could be hearing wrong but he thought he heard something about Dauntless undead
When Luxanna finally exited the office he took his place beside her and moved along with her. "Okay, as you say, Miss. Crownguard." He replied and accompanied her there. He cast a single glance behind him as they walked, "Silly, Prince..." When the Lady of Luminosity and Vincent excited the building he turned his head to her, trying to get some more information from her besides what he had heard. "What was all that about?"

Looking back towards Vincent, Lux spoke in her normal tone. “The prince asked me to go and talk to the college about something.” As much as she trusted Vincent she knew some things had to be kept hidden and dealing with Necromancy was one of those things, but she knew he would understand. Quickening her pace she continues to head towards the college.

The trip was short, the College grounds not far from the palace. They passed the city guardsmen who stood stoically at guard on each corner, and those that patrolled the streets saluted the Lady of Luminosity. Here in the city center was quiet and order. They travelled unhindered straight to the College entrance where a Demacian summoner waited to escort them to the research council that awaited Luxanna as Jarvan IV had arranged. They didn't enter the main building, but passed around the training yard and into the advanced studies complex. It was there that the Luxanna would be allowed entrance to the meeting room. A table surrounded by the five heads of research awaited her, and the attendant inside politely asked Vincent to wait in the hall. There were no guards in the hall, as this far in the only people who passed through were those travelling to and from the research facility and the Adepts training ground where powerful magics pervaded and protected the facility from the regular abuse of Demacia's Arcane Elite. There was simply a single metal bench in the hallway, along with several other doors leading to the research chambers and offices. The doors closed, and after they had welcomed Luxanna to her seat, the first question was asked.
"Luxanna I speak for everyone when I say we are happy to see you, but we are anxious to understand why exactly are we meeting in disruption of our important work?" The old man leaned forward in his chair with both hands set on the table top.

Pulling out the envelope Jarvan IV had given her, she passed it to the research head. “Jarvan IV has asked us to look at the fear magic that was used against us.” As they broke the seal Lux began to go over some of the ideas she had regarding the fear magic. As she spoke she gauged the reactions of the research heads, trying to find who seemed most interested in the work. Finishing her brief introduction she leans slightly back in her chair, waiting for the last letter to finish making its way around.

As Luxanna made her way into the room, Vincent stood outside. He was supposed to sit a few meters away from the door, but this was information he could not miss hearing. He looked around him and saw no one, moving closer to the door just enough to hear what was going on inside. The first thing he heard, was something about fear magic, this was pretty important, so he'd have to listen as much as possible.

As Vincent moved closer to the door, the Heads of research took Luxanna's message. "You cant be serious", the first said after passing the letter off to his left. "He expects us to stop ALL of the other projects? What ridiculousness is this? The College of Magic has much more to do. Can he be reasoned with? What about the greater binding?" He quieted, not sure if these things could be revealed to her. "This is quite uncomfortable." The summoners nodded in agreement, all but showing shock and aggravation on their faces.

Clifford had spent the whole last night and part of the morning in the library of the building researching more about the control of fire magic, The subject passionate him a part of him regretted to abandon his magical studies in favor of the sword but he had made recently his resolution of marrying both disciplines and master them creating something of his own. He was walking through the halls with some notes off his own when he spotted the body guard of his cousin. Something was off about the guy but Clifford wasn’t able to put his finger on it…he was standing too close to the door for someone guarding it almost as if he was trying to heard the conversation “Good day Vincent I see you are working hard as always.” He said in rather loud voice to drown any noise coming from he room.

Vincent kept listening to the conversation, trying not to catch anyone's attention while he did. Apparently he had failed as someone spoke to him. He looked up from the floor and noticed Clifford, "Great, him... Always a nuisance..." Vincent thought and looked at him. "Good day, Clifford. Yes indeed, guarding your cousin is quite the task. She always keeps me busy." He said and began listening more on the conversation , but the damn Demacian made it hard for him to focus on it.
"Don't you have some soldiers to train or something?"
Post by Clifford Blazblade on Oct 23, 2013 12:22:03 GMT -5
“Training the mind is also an important duty Vincent you should practice it more. Why don’t you go to the training ground more often? I would love to have you as a guest for “Combat practice” He retorted observing Vincent he seemed off like trying to concentrate on the whispers from the other side of the door “It seems like guarding is not needed right now there are few places as secure as here in Damacia why don’t we got to talk somewhere else?” his tone seemed inquisitive he was trying to see Vincent reaction to his suggestion and measure it.

Vincent was getting really annoyed at Clifford, "Why wont he just go and die!" He shouted in h is head but kept his calm facade. "Yeah, you're right, what place can be more secure than the mages college, eh?" "Hahah, filthy Demacian scum, no place is secure enough.".
He stepped away from the door and looked at Clifford, "Why don't we go to the Training grounds now? For Combat practice." He suggested. This Clifford kid was way too nosy, Vincent was afraid that he'd eventually get caught by him, if he didn't silence him. The Training grounds would be perfect, it would look like a training accident.
