It was arguably among the most weird outcomes of any encounter he had been in. And yet, it seemed welcome.
Perhaps it was finally coming to accept a role that was long time coming, but one he had put off for so long, out of self-imposed necessity.
Being a father.
And yet, his child was not such in any imaginative way: she was not biologically related, nor was she of an age that could fit that idea. She wasn't even fully human.
Of course, neither was he at this point.
Then there was the whole curious timeline of events that even led to this point. The walk, the ambush, the fight, the whackdown, the change of heart, the save, and the offer for a chance. A chance to begin anew, a chance for a better life.
A chance to start over.
And so, having offered this to the cybernetic woman, who accepted it and let him take her to his hometown, he brought her into his small, modest apartment within the more open urban areas of the interior districts inside the city-state.
Having let her take a seat on the living room couch, he took a seat adjacent to it in a single-occupant chair. The room itself was, for lack of a better description, modest; aside from the standard living room furniture for the city-state, there were some paintings and photos hung along the walls, which depicted the man's life, starting from when he created his first engine at the age of 8.
For several minutes, the man looked at the photos, reliving those moments. Then, he turned to the curious-appearing woman on the couch.
"Well, this is my home, and for the time being this is your residence, which as your guardian I have cleared with the officials with the initial documents. So, how do you feel right now?" Jonathan, as the man was known, asked the woman who he only knew as White Wolf.
"There's only one thing that I know for sure is true: 'Truth is relative.'" -Jon
"What side you're on isn't of concern to me. What is of concern is that you're hurt, and I need to treat you for it." -Jon
"Contrary to what some believe, violence does not solve everything. In fact, it solves nothing." -Jon
Wolf sat on the couch as was suggested by Jonathan as he took a seat on a single person chair. There were many interesting pictures in the apartment which could be assumed to be Jon earlier in his life. This was slightly nerve wracking for her, she was in a new city with someone she didn't exactly know taking care of her and sharing his home with her, she didn't know exactly how to feel. "um I guess I feel sort of nervous" She replied when he asked her how she felt. Her attention drifted to the picture of Jon with his first engine.

"Ay, it is fine to be unsure of something new, but alot of this place is actually more familiar than you think; even the people aren't so different. See here!" With that, Jon revealed from behind his upper back: another pair of arms, but were clearly of artificial, metal-based nature. Both steel-plated hands waved at White Wolf, while Jon gave a small chuckle.
"Well, I see that you've taken an interest in my past, eh? Well, it's definitely a more colorful one than many likely have, at least in this city-state... but it definitely took far too many sharp turns for one's liking, though."
"If no major events happened this past generation, I'd merely be some scholar in techmaturgical engineering or mathematics, trying to uncover that which remains unknown. Who knew becoming a field surgeon and then a combat medic would be my future..."

Wolf listened to the short story Jon told about his past with a small bit of interest. Colorful, the word was no stranger to wolf, she was an assassin from a country that despised and avoided violence. Her past was probably more colorful then even Jon's in a sense. The conversation was starting to get a little bit uncomfortable with these thoughts. "hmm, so um is there anything I should look at doing in the mean time." Wolf said attempting to break the conversation at hand. "like should I look at getting work here in the city?"

"There is, actually, and getting work would be a good idea, but in order to do so you're going to need to do something I'm not sure you're comfortable doing: revealing some details of your past," Jon explained.
"Piltover is well known for being a progressive city-state, and one thing they associate with progress is organization. And with organization comes with documentation. Now, I can guess that you probably don't have a very likable pass, judging from the way we met back in Ionia" - a beat could be felt as he slightly grimaced at the thought, before recollecting himself - "But Piltover - or any City-State, for that matter - requires that if you wish to be able to be able to stay here, or in any City-State."
Jon then took his pipe from the nearby shelf, and a few moments later a few small rings of smoke began to emit from his mouth.
"There's only one thing that I know for sure is true: 'Truth is relative.'" -Jon

Details of the past... the phrase sounded like it would have a bit of backlash if Wolf provided the wrong details. Would a city state imprison her for being a former assassin? "what happens if my past is covered in black spots?" She asked hoping that the answer was safer then its question. "You should already have an idea of what my past is like, would that mean I could get imprisoned for what I have done?

"Well, that depends really. They don't need to know everything, per say, but they are going to need enough to be convinced that your backstory is sensible; too many holes and they'll require a more detailed explanation, which gets even more intense."
"Well, I know you've placed much trust in me already, letting me take you here, but I'm going to ask you to take it a step further and, well... tell me about your real past. If you wish it to stay hidden, you have my word the knowledge will not leave this room," Jon replied, replacing his pipe again.

"I don't think I'm ready to talk about that yet, I'll write it down for the thing but I can't talk about it person to person." Wolf replied a little anxious at the thought of revealing the past, a past that she didn't even want to consider remembering. Trying to avoid anything else of her past she tried to change the conversation yet again. "what kind of jobs do you think I could do around Piltover."

"Well, the truth is, Piltover won't even let you even apply for a job until you're clear; that, and the same process is what determines your best role here. So in a way, the one thing you don't want to do is the only way you're even going to be able to do what you want to do."
Jon then took out his pipe and set it down on the table. "Look at me, please; I can guess what you've done in your past is something you don't want to dwell on, but you're not going to be able to truly start a new life until you come to terms with it. I'd know this - the same thing happened to me," Jon revealed, his expression turning slightly more understandable.

"what happens if what I done in the past only gets me into more trouble like it has my whole life?" The memories of her murdering the bandits and her own family slowly started to resurface, things she never wanted to remember ever again. "I don't want to be taken away to rot."

Rather surprising for the situation, Jon could only give a small chuckling.
"Well, Piltover's law actually could let you get away with it: here the rule goes 'innocent until proven guilty,' and if they can't prove you did it, then you're not guilty of it."
"Of course, outright convicting yourself is possible, but Piltover's a progressive state; if you're willing to show you can redeem yourself - and you work towards that goal - they're willing to grant you a second chance."
"So... how do you wish to proceed?"

"10 years ago..." Said Wolf as she shed a few tears. "Ten years ago was the beginning, before I became an assassin for hire." she continue further, the memories stream back in as if they were a river, the blood, the screams of pain, the dead bodies, everything. "when I was only a small child my family abandoned me when they were attacked by a small bandit gang, the bandits instead of killing me took me in as one of them, though I was hardly one of them, I was always on the outside of things looking in. I trained myself to use a weapon, and then when I was 17 I killed each and every one of them, not all at once but in the middle of the night when none of them would notice." Wolf was on the verge of breaking down crying and she broke eye contact. "my family was next, I did the same to them as I did to the bandits. I killed them all in cold blood out of an emptiness in my heart." She couldn't hold in the tears any longer when she burst out into a crying fit.
Wolf could only look up to meet Jon's eyes with tears still streaming from the corners. She closed her eyes and with a silent nod replied yes. She only hoped that this "test" was as easy as speaking of shut out memories.

Jon looked at her for a moment, before nodding and beginning to rise.
"There is much I have to talk to you about with regards about your past before the test, but for now you need rest; make sure you're ready. I'll help you practice tomorrow in preparation for the test, but until then, stay well." He then pointed his hand to an open, rather dearth bedroom, before turning to the kitchen and taking a seat there, re-lighting his pipe and turn his mind to other matters.
