Zed watched as she smiled and handed him a towel, he slowly began to dry his hands, crimson stained the material while he done so. Power will define Ionia's future... He lowered his own gaze, his brow knitted into a frown. "Reined in." he repeated allowed, he had power and he had nearly killed that boy and snapped the others wrist. He had power, they did not... If he had more control placed around him, he wouldn't have harmed them.
No, that did not seem right...
His dark brown eyes locked onto Syndra, "I wasn't born for anything, an orphan, I had no place in this world until the Kinkou took me in. I serve because they give me purpose." His voice was quiet, as he spoke it was as though he was trying to convince himself, but it was clear he didn't believe the words that come from his own mouth. He lowered his gaze back to his hands, his purpose, his sole aim had been to surpass his brother, to try earn the affection of the man who had taken him in. For what? To be a slave for a cause he himself didn't believe down in his heart.
He shifted his eyes back to her, a curious expression upon his face, "I have never met an Ionian like you before." He paused briefly as if contemplating if he should ask the next question or not, would he like the answer? "If the elders and teachers wished to rein in power... Why are you here? Wouldn't they use your master to try control you?" He shrugged, "Don't mind me.. Just thinking out loud."

Syndra drew back at Zed's ending comment. There was a sudden shift in the atmosphere and the bloody water in the bowl shook imperceptibly. The young Ionian straightened up, and the invisible pressure in the room lifted.
She forced a smile and replied, choosing her words carefully. 'My mentor was selected by the Elders to teach me to expand my powers. I suppose, just like you, they are trying to give me a purpose--a finish line for my powers. But I know better--my potential is limitless.'
Syndra glanced at the boy across from her before glaring down at the floor. 'Just because you were taken in by the Kinkou, it doesn't mean they own your will. Forge your own path, you don't deserve to live in anyone's shadow.'
She shrugged, a small glimmer of hope appearing on her expression. 'I mean...once my mentor helps me unlock the next step of my powers, I'll do the same. They can't hold me back once I've learned everything they have to teach.' Her tone echoed Zed's, said more to convince herself than her audience.
"A legion couldn't stop me; what chance do you have?"

The boy watched her draw back at his comment, it was clear he had struck a nerve of some sort. He glanced at the water in the bowel as it began to quake, his senses fired into overdrive, he had clearly said something wrong and had to be on his toes if she done something aggressive, until she straightened and the feeling of pressure lifted. He relaxed his muscles and listened as she spoke.
He looked to the floor, he recognized that tone all to well, would her mentor really help her? Simply by feeling the pressure within the room moments earlier and being thrown back like a rag doll while he assaulted the boy, it was blatantly clear she had an immense amount of power already, "But... Would they?" He questioned, "Would they really teach you all they know? I don't know them, but..." He trailed off, it was not his place to question her, he had only met her recently.

Syndra waved his inquiry away. The Ionian looked slightly flustered. 'Why wouldn't they?' she replied, more to herself again and stood up, gathering the bowl and towel in her hands. Quickly striding to the other end of the guest quarters, she slid open a door, revealing a small backyard. With a careless flourish, she emptied the crimson water into the dry grass, watching it sink in gradually. Looking at the towel she mused for a second, before sliding the door close. In the room, she found the stack of guest towels and hid the used towel underneath; the guest room was rarely ever used and she was certain she could dispose of it safely when the commotion dies down.
Syndra turned around, looking at Zed, her eyes tracing the space around his body. He had a strange energy coiled within him. With some effort, she focused her gaze back upon the ninja. 'Will the Kinkou notice your absence?' she asked, a small part of her curious about the ins and outs of this mysterious clan. Another part wondered if the Order was the cause of the ninja's outburst. Patiently, she awaited his answer.
"A legion couldn't stop me; what chance do you have?"

"Probably." he stated simply, "They might be looking for me depending on if they needed me for something." he had noticed how she waved off the question he had asked, wondering if she doubted her master's intent. It sounded suspicious to him, but maybe that's because he didn't entirely trust the elders. Whispers around the Kinkou temple made it seem as though they weren't as trustworthy as everyone thought. Usually just minor things, but still, it left him wondering what else they might be hiding in the name of 'balance'.
"So.. How long do you think I should hide out here for?"

Syndra mulled over the details. 'Depends if the boys keep their mouth shut or not,' she murmured airily, seemingly unafraid.
'It is big, here' she shrugged, motioning around the room. 'No one ever walks into the rooms, so if you require it, you may stay as long as need be without being found.'
A small thought at the back of her head asked her why she was treating this ninja so warmly; but it was as if she was drawn to his aura. She wrinkled her nose--she had never been particularly inclined to read too deeply into auras.
'Why did you do it,' she whispered finally, slumping into a crouch, bringing her eye to eye with him. 'What pushed you to the breaking point?'

Zed frowned and looked down as she asked what pushed him. What could he tell her? The constant strain of feeling to need to compete for someone's affection, the feeling you weren't good enough? The feeling that no matter what he done, no matter how hard he tried, he would always be nothing more than a tool? He looked up at her, his eyes showing emotion where his face was stone, they held a sense of sadness, "I was tired..." He said simply, "Tired of people pushing and shoving, no way to relieve the building anger and frustration which only led to more... They just happened to be the ones that pushed me the tiniest bit too far."

The Ionian's eyes narrowed. To the young woman, it seemed tragic--that this ninja in front of her was so bound by expectations that he could not seem to fulfill. She stirred, admitting to her feelings.
She wanted to see him succeed. To get what he wanted--gratification, praise...she smiled bitterly. If Akito succeeded, it would affirm her own hopes of success against the odds. How selfish, she chided herself. Eventually, every act just led back to herself.
The path ahead of her was writhing with uncertainty, but Syndra knew she had the power, at the very least, to help Akito somehow, through words of encouragement or otherwise.
'You know,' she spoke, picking her words carefully. 'I understand how you feel. If you ever need a little help , I think I could pull some metaphorical strings to help you push through.' There was a glint in her eye, and it was a devious, almost malicious glimmer.
She pushed on. 'The ends always justify the means. I'd be a little disappointed if you didn't use your attack against those innocent bullies as another rung to power. Don't feel unworthy, Akito. Pick your battles; don't follow your master's definition of honor if it doesn't coincide with your idea of success.'
The words tumbled from her lips, her passion giving them an almost resonating echo. She finished, and awaited Akito's answer, eyes wary, yet testing.
"A legion couldn't stop me; what chance do you have?"

Zed stood from his position and looked to Syndra's eyes, a sense of determination flickering within them. He would not allow the word of one woman to sway him completely, but he did feel her words rang true. The ends always justify the means.
Wordlessly he turned toward a nearby window and almost laughed as she mentioned his master's definition of honor, "Syndra." He said quietly with a small smirk upon his lips, "Ninja have no honor."
With that he would simply slip through the window and into the night that had begun to fall, heading back to where he knew he would be punished in order to keep him on the path of balance. All the time wondering if the woman would grow as powerful as she seemed to want to, would the Kinkou be forced to greet her some day?
