Arlo stared back into those red eyes, a chill running down his spine as they seemed to glow a molten red. He spoke clearly, with a voice like a river stone not yet polished smooth.
"Welcome to the palace. Word is you've helped the Prince in some way. Your eyes can burn all they want if that's the case, but don't think to harm any of these people. You may not know our laws, but it won't excuse you from punishment."
The captain rested his hand lightly on the pommel of his sword, more to draw attention to its presence than anything. He didn't have to look at the guard beside him. Here the men were chosen for their devotion to the crown, each ready to kill or die for their country at any moment. They were keen, fast, and disciplined.
"You'd have the kings justice before you could turn around. Keep the peace and you shall continue in it."
He stood still then, the conversation in the throne room growing louder. A few grey heads turned toward the open door, but none moved. They could hear the prince raise his voice over the crowd.
"... fools, if you thought for a..." was all that could be clearly heard.

Shyvana tilted her head and blinked innocently, or as innocent the Half-Dragon could look. She smiled a bit and sat down on the floor again and folded her legs. Casting a glance over at the other guards she moved a bit further away from them.
She began rocking back and forth a little as she waited for the only man she had trusted right now to return to her. Shyvana sighed and stopped for a while and looked down the corridor into the room where Jarvan had gone. Hearing something that sounded bad Shyvana stood up and hurried up to the halberds and put her hands on them, trying to push them away.
The Half-Dragon looked down the corridor and back at the guards. "Let me past!" Shyvana tried to order them, staring the guard on her right in his eyes. The fiery color returned with a stronger glow than before.

Watching intently, the Knight Captain of the Guard was skeptical of her expression of nescience, but when she responded to the councils arguing he had a glimmer of understanding. When she moved to the doorway his men reacted without need for command.
The sound of oil leather and shifting armor ended with a cluster of spear-points surrounding the woman who pressed against the crossed halberds. The King, and the Council of elders stood inside the chamber, the most important leaders of Demacia standing in one place. The guards held still, their weapons less than a foot away from her skin as the encircled Shyvana. They would let nothing unknown enter here, giving their lives to protect this place. Their helmets framed calm faces, adrenaline running cold behind walls of confidence and determination. Arlo held his fist up, a signal to hold.
"PATIENCE. No one in that room will come to harm. Step back from the doorway before you bring harm on yourself."
Inside the chamber, one of the Council stood away from the rest, nearer to the entrance. He heard little of the conversation, eyes fixed on the visitor who's hands lay on halberd shafts barring the way. Blue eyes tried to read the expression in her red. The rest of the council seemed not to notice, as they spoke among one another. In their midst, the prince could be heard answering questions, sometimes respectfully and sometimes angrily, though the words could not be made out.
He was tired. Soreness only added to his frustration with the several of the Council-members. Their stubbornness matched his own, and with eloquence they painted their fears out in detail. The risk of a fiery rampage, of an uncontrollable beast brought quietly into the city, the panic of the public, of invoking the anger of the Dragons who's position of Half-Humans was well known, all played their tune. In return he cut their careless statements down to size with promises and reassurance, logic and reason. He played to their pride and their greed, and with spirit described the moment he witnessed Shyvana the Half-Dragon pull the heart out of a dragon with her own hands. His father watched, and Jarvan IV was all too aware of his unsteady position. If only he had been able to speak with father before the Council got word of this. The prince had called his side. Now he waited for the coin to stop spinning, and fall.

Shyvana noticed movement amongst the guards, she was surrounded. Letting go of the halberd she turned around to see the sharp points against her. Shyvana's breathing got faster and her heart rate accelerated. Her eyes scanned the faces of the guards.
Something began boiling inside her, it made her eyes focus more on the details on the guards and her body temperature rising, she felt angry. She took a step back and felt the sharp edge press against her skin, taking another step forward she turned around and put her hand on her back where it had poked her. There was something wet there, something warm.
Her rage boiled within her. This was bad, this was really bad. Panic struck her and she began turning around to look for a hole in the circle around her, she had to get out of there.
The Half-Dragon was breathing rapidly as she turned around again, her foot got caught in her leg as she turned again and caused her to collapse. Her hands broke the fall against the cold floor, she stared down into the ground.
Shyvana's voice trembled, "I-I n-need to ge-get out..." She said, loud enough for the guards to hear. Her body temperature was rising and the once cold stone floor beneath her was getting warmer.

"RELEASE!"
The guards heard their captains command, backing away. This time four of them returned to the doorway, crossing their halberds. The sound rang out into the throne room, turning a few heads. Jarvan IV stopped mid sentence, turning toward the entryway.
"Excuse me."
The prince left the council members, longs strides taking him quickly across the floor. He reached to push his way through the guards weapons, but they moved aside on their own.

Shyvana flinched as the captain shouted out the command. The floor beneath her was now comfortably warm and was getting warmer. She heard quick steps approaching her through the hallway, she was sure she was going to be forced to leave Demacia.
His voice. Looking up she saw Jarvan, she didn't know what to do now. She had put herself and Jarvan in a bad spot right now. Her breathing slowed down a little and the same was for her heart rate. She moved a little so she sat on her knees in front of Jarvan, she leaned forward and put her arms around him.

The guard captain stood there, confused and still. He watched the prince kneel down and started to realize his mistake. This wasn't just a warrior.
"Arlo. We'll have words later." Jarvan IV gave him a stern look over the shoulder of the girl with the burning eyes.
Jarvan IV put an arm gently around Shyvana and he was immediately aware of the heat she was putting off. I came right through his armor, he could feel it on his face and from the floor beneath him.
"Ok, we'll go." She was heavier than he expected. After unbuckling his left shoulder guard, he lifted her up so that her head would rest to his left, ignoring the sweat starting to bead on his chest. He ignored the stares of the Council as well, trying not to think about the comments he would have to deal with later.
"Outside" he said calmly to Captain Arlo, who nodded quickly and led the way to the closest courtyard. The captain opened the doors for them, and the prince took his burden down to a carved wooden bench.
The courtyard was wide, but interior to the palace. Walls rose in a circle around them bushes and strange flowering plants grew in pattered garden beds, and Jarvan IV sat Shyvana down on the bench and stood straight.
"Arlo. Bandage."
The captain nodded once again and turned to walk out on his errand, his steps uncharacteristically quick.

Shyvana didn't move so much as Jarvan lift her up, she did however rest her head no his shoulder as they walked through the palace. Her heart was still racing when they reached the courtyard. She felt the warm sun on her skin and calmed down a bit.
Looking around her she saw the captain that had ordered the guards to encircle her, she did not like him.
As the Captain was sent away and she was placed on the bench she looked up at Jarvan."T-thanks. She looked around the courtyard. They seemed to be in a secluded part of it, or at least that's what Shyvana thought. Her breathing and heart rate lowered as the silence of the courtyard came.
She took a deep breath before standing up and looking Jarvan in the eyes. "I'm sorry for making this mess, but I heard some shouting from the room. So I thought you were in danger and wanted to help you."
She looked away from him and looked at the walls around them as well as the odd bushes before returning her attention to Jarvan.

Jarvan IV stood, pacing slowly up and down the garden path. How to handle the problem? Minutes passed and Jarvan IV wondered what was taking the captain so long. He stopped in front of her, sighing audibly.
"I wasn't in danger, and the guards did not understand what you were doing. Regardless, they shouldn't have hurt you. That room is only for the leaders of my country. Only those invited by the king are allowed to pass. I couldn't take you with me. Not yet."
He started walking again, thinking about how to calm the situation and explain to the Council. He was interrupted when Arlo returned beside a young woman. The prince walked straight to him, pulling him aside. With Arlo waiting at the door he walked with the young woman to Shyvana.
"This is Melane. She's here to bandage that cut." The girl curtsied and waited nervously with the bandage in her hands. She smiled and took a step toward Shyvana.

The Half-Dragon blinked and nodded as Jarvan began talking about those who were in the chamber. She felt bad for putting him in this situation. "I-I'm sorry... I didn't know..." She didn't move her eyes from Jarvan as he began to walk around the courtyard.
As the Captain, apparently named Arlo returned he had a woman following him. Shyvana looked at her as Jarvan brought her closer to Shyvana. She seemed kind.

Melane went to work quietly, nervous but not fearful as she approached Shyvana. Leaning over, she placed a bandage on the cut, wrapping linen hand over hand around Shyvana's abdomen to hold it in place. While she worked the guard captain and Jarvan IV exchanged looks, and the older man dropped to one knee with a metallic clank.
"My apologies for the harsh treatment. My men are perhaps overzealous, and I am responsible. Count me in your debt both for this mistake and the service you have rendered to our prince."
He bowed his head slowly before looking up at her. Jarvan IV simply watched, standing back with arms crossed.
"There. No stitches needed, and try not to make many sudden movements until tomorrow. give you skin a little time to mend." Melane stood and looked down at her work, suddenly awkward as she realized she was standing right in front of Arlo, blocking him out. She took several quick steps to the side and curtsied.

Shyvana took a sharp breath as Melanie touched the wound on her back, being raised on the run had always had her leaving wounds to heal by themselves. Her back held scars that she had gotten from hunting with her father or running to cover.
The Half-Dragon blinked as the metallic clank rang out and when Arlo spoke she listened, perhaps he really was sorry, but why? Was it because of Jarvan? Or was it because Jarvan had told Arlo what she was.
When Melane finished her treatment of the wound, Shyvana nodded and smiled a little. "O-Okay... Thank you, Melane." As the woman stepped away from Shyvana, she could see that Arlo was kneeling in front of her. Blinking Shyvana looked at the Captain then at Jarvan before returning her attention to Arlo.
"Ehm... I'm sure they were doing what they were supposed to do... I'm the one who made a mistake, I'm not used to being around people." Shyvana replied and looked at Jarvan, her eyes asked him what she was supposed to do now.

Arlo stood, his pooled cloak pulling up from the floor. "Regardless, call on me if you are in need, and I will do whatever I can to help."
He saluted the prince once more before turning to leave. Melane curtsied in parting, and followed the captain out of the courtyard. He sighed, tiredness pulling on his aching body, on his thoughts. He stifled a yawn, looking down at Shyvana and her new bandage. You knew it wouldn't be easy, he thought to himself. He searched the ground with his eyes, wondering what was next. He needed to return to the council, but he couldn't leave Shyvana alone. The decision was made for him, as a messenger walked cautiously toward the pair, having entered the courtyard moments before.
"My prince, the King has decided to reconvene the council tomorrow morning. Until then, he accepts your guest into the hospitality of the palace."
Perfect. He smiled, walking up to the messenger. Another day, more time to think. This was a good sign, considering. "Rooms?"
"Yes my Lord. They are being readied as we speak." He turned as if to leave. "Wait, Ill take her there now. Shyvana, come with me. You, lead the way."
The messenger bowed, and began to walk back into the palace.

Shyvana blinked and looked at Arlo as he stood up and talked. "O-okay... A-Arlo." She replied and looked at him as he walked away. When Melane made her way Shyvana waved and smiled at her. Shyvana liked Melane, she was nice.
When the messenger arrived the Half-Dragon looked at him, he seemed harmless enough. When he spoke she listened closely and moved up to stand next to Jarvan. When she heard that she was going to be allowed to stay for the night she felt reassured. Shyvana knew that Jarvan's father would see reason into letting her stay.
As Jarvan told her to follow him she did, walking next to him back into the palace. After a few minutes of silence she spoke to Jarvan quiet enough so the messenger wouldn't hear. "I don't like that Arlo guy..."

"He is a dedicated man to his duty to his country and her people. A bit overzealous, but loyal," the deep voice of the commander of the Dauntless Vanguard mentioned behind Shyvana. Should she and/or the prince turn, he would salute crisply, the metal of his armor clanking as he made his swift movements. The rich blue cloth that surrounded his armor and abdomen would be somewhat pleasing to the eye, and the sparkle of his smile as he attempted to show his friendliness to the prince's guest would illuminate his face.
"Garen Crownguard, General of the Dauntless Vanguard," he said with a voice stalwart as a mountain. He tried to keep his sentences crisp and proper in the presence of the prince, until he was given the permission to speak freely. Demacia's second favorite son was everything but casual. Even with his background growing up with the prince, he was still bound to protocols expected of every Demacian citizen.
