Rumble wags a finger at Teemo in a taunting manner, smirking and responding back in a rather flippant manner. "Ha! That cat practically lives on my head and he hasn't got a purr outta me yet! I'll take you up on that bet," the mechanic chuckled mockingly. "Winner gets-"
Before the defiant yordle could continue, though, the cat begins to hiss and make mrowr sounds for a few seconds, hopping off of Teemo's head and peering around in a rather alert manner. The mysterious light only shone for a brief second, but it was enough to keep Scraps at attention and take away his playful demeanor. Rumble quizzically looked at his pet, wondering what could have gotten the cat so worked up all of a sudden. The yordle knew Scraps only became legitimately irritable when there was a danger nearby.
"What's the matter, Scraps? Am I bein' too mean to my pal, or is there somethin' threatening nearby?" he asked, glancing around the room in search for clues.

Teemo tilts his head a little, turning it to follow the cat. He smirks lightly, finding Scraps' manner to be comical. "Oooh, a guard cat, too, huh? C'mon, Scraps, what'd you find? A mouse?" The scout chuckles lightly, getting out of his seat to silently make his way over to the cat. He doesn't seem to think that there is any threat at the moment.

The mysterious purple light shimmered once again for a brief second, sending the cat into a temporary frenzy and causing him to leap towards the source of the light whilst screeching mrorororrwr! However, Scraps' leap fell short and he only landed on a ball of yarn, which as far as Rumble knew, was not engineered and rebuilt to emit light.
The mechanic smiled amusingly and put his hands on his hips, still oblivious to the light. "Really? All this fer a ball of yarn? Yer getting more ridiculous every passing day, Scraps," he chuckled.

Teemo is a bit more perceptive this time, being close enough to catch a glimpse of the purple light. For a second he wonders what it might have been, but soon shrugs the thought away, assuming that it was just some machine of Rumble's working in the background. The scout kneels down next to Scraps with a small smirk, reaching to pet the cat's neck.
"Didja get spooked by the yarn, Scraps? Heh, no worries, it's nothing to be afraid of."

Scraps continues to hiss and stalk around, still affected by the mysterious light. He kicks the ball of yarn away, and when Teemo reaches down to pet him, the cat responds by scratching the scout's neck. Scraps then lets out another angry meow and leaps to his owner, latching onto the yordle's body with all four limbs and scratching the yordle's cheek rather viciously.
"OW! What was that for, you flippin' furball?!" Rumble held his cheek and staggered backwards, hitting the table behind him. He turn around to balance himself better using the tabletop and his elbow while he rubbed his cheek. There, he saw the source of what was driving his pet crazy: the Icathian Lens that he and Teemo found in the junkyard long ago.
The lens continued to emit purple light, causing Scraps to jump onto the table and growl while prowling around the glass case that was protecting the lens.

Teemo yelps and recoils, bringing his arm up in defense just quick enough to come in contact with the cat's paws. As Scraps pounces away, the scout winces, holding his arm just under the scratch and wincing in pain. A small bit of his fur is stained crimson and a piece of his rolled up sleeve is ripped and also tainted with blood. "Agh, didn't you ever think to get him de-clawed, Rumble?!"
The captain growls quietly and looks over at Rumble, then turns back to Scraps. His anger changes to concern when he realizes where the purple glow had come from. Slowly his head tilts to the side as he thinks to himself, staring at the Eye. The artifact is of Icathian origin, that much he knows, but the fact that it's begun to act up...
Deep inside the captain can feel fear starting to form.

The mechanic's short temper takes over and replies rather angrily at Teemo, aghast at the thought of de-clawing his pet. "WHAT?! Y'know how cruel that is?! Scraps may hurt, but he doesn't deserve that kinda treatment, much like how a yordle shouldn't have his tools or weapons taken away!" he retorted. Rumble rubbed his cheek a little more and took a deep breath, his mood calming down after slightly regretting about shouting at his friend.
"...Er, sorry. But I do see your point. That did hurt," he winced. He looked at his pet, which was continuously growling and scratching at the glass case surrounding the Eye. "That's the Icathian thing we found at my junkyard," he pointed out. "But why would it be glowing? And why would Scraps be responding to it so spitefully?"
He looked at Teemo's bleeding arm, which caused a bit of concern for the blue-furred yordle. "Er... Want me to get you bandages or anything?"
Post by The Swift Scout on Jan 27, 2014 1:05:05 GMT -5
Normally the scout would be right on top of his situation, requesting bandages on his own time. But this time his focus is on his city. If the Icathian artifact is acting up, it can't mean anything good. Quickly he stands and turns to Rumble, eyes locked in his 'no emotion, battle-ready' state. "We should bring this to the mayor immediately. The artifact is Icathian, which means the Void. Malzahar. Cho'Gath. Kog'Maw. Kha'Zix. If that thing detects Void presence, then it might mean that something is coming."

Rumble rubbed his arm nervously, suddenly realizing the dire situation with the Icathian Lens. Unlike Teemo, the mechanic never had any experience in dealing with void monstrosities, but if the scout's assumption was correct, then the lens had to be brought to the mayor immediately. "You're right," he stated. "If there's a void leak in the city, that could spell big trouble for all of Bandle's civilians, even if it's just a void scout."
The small yordle put the glass case holding the lens in a bag and pet Scraps, who calmed down somewhat. He put on a coat and walked towards the doorway, looking back at his pal. "Well, Teems? Ya gonna come with me?"
Post by The Swift Scout on Jan 27, 2014 19:35:16 GMT -5
Teemo shakes his head, moving to the first aid kit in order to grab a bandage. While he does so, he addresses Rumble's concern. "I might catch up with ya, but first I'm heading back to HQ to let the rest of the scouts know we need to keep an eye out. You go on ahead and warn the mayor, alright?"
The scouts starts to bandage his arm quickly, then cuts the bandage roll and heads to the door.

"Alright, Teems, I'll go do that then."
Rumble waves goodbye to his friend, then gave his pet a rub on the head. "You be good now, okay?" he smiles. Scraps sits down and meows back as a reply. After Teemo leaves through the door, the mechanic leaves and closes the door, locking the workshop.
The yordle makes his way to the city hall, carrying the Icathian lens in a bag throughout the whole trip. Once he reaches the building safely, he walks towards the receptionist desk and puts (well, more like slams) both hands onto the table. "Hello, I need to see the mayor immediately. I have urgent news."
The receptionist merely glances up at the mechanic, sighing and placing her pen down. "The mayor is in his office right now. If your news really are urgent as your tone dictates... well, I'm sure the mayor will find time for you anyways. Try not to be so intrusive here next time."
"Sorry ma'am, I'll keep that in mind next time," Rumble replies as he rushes past the desk and towards the mayor's office. Once he reaches the door, he knocks on it rather forcefully several times, hoping that the mayor wouldn't be too busy.

Jadefellow looks up from his papers, ears wilting a little. It'd been a busy day today, and only recently the work had begun to die down. He takes a deep breath to relax a little, then calls out. "Yes, who is it?"
Post by The Mechanized Menace on Jan 30, 2014 2:53:00 GMT -5
Rumble opens the door and walks in rather abruptly. "It's me, sir. I have very important news to deliver."
He places the bag on the mayor's desk and unzips it, then takes out the glass case that was holding the Icathian lens, which was still glowing. "I kept this in my workshop for a couple of months, and just an hour ago it started glowing right in front of Teemo and I. It caused my, er..." Rumble scratched his head, embarrassed to admit that he kept a pet. "...er, cat, to go crazy and scratch us both. Anyways, Teemo thinks that the glowing might signal a nearby void threat. What do you think?"

The mayor raises a brow, both ears perking up. He wasn't expecting the Mechanized Menace to show up like this, and certainly not with such an odd tale. It's been some time since he'd heard about the lens that Teemo and Rumble found, so it takes him a moment to think back and remember what he knew about it. There honestly isn't much he ever learned.
Hastily he shakes his head, mostly to clear his thoughts, then turns his attention back to Rumble. "The possibility is always there, Rumble. Though the Icathians worshiped the Void, to my understanding, there isn't anywhere that states they truly understood it. For all we know those of the Void were simply using their devices to peer into our world. Now, you say that it started acting up recently, but it hadn't acted like this previously?"

Rumble nods and takes a seat. "Yeah... It's only been actin' up when Teemo came over to visit, and it made my pet go bonkers. He was hissin' and stuff, and he clawed at Teemo and I too." The mechanic pointed to the scratch on his cheek, which had already stopped bleeding. "You could also be right, that the void is just tryin' to look at our world. I remember that a voidling bug thing broke into my workshop a long time ago, though it didn't look too harmful. I think that the lens are supposed to decipher Icathian runes, but I only heard that from Teemo," he shrugged.
