Krutis raised an eyebrow as the commotion spiked, seemed there were some idiots around at this hour anyway. However this woman was starting to really get on her nerves, not only was she causing troubles from her guest but was also beginning to insinuate that this was all for show. She grumbled as she set the expensive bottle of alcohol down on the counter and reached for her sidearm. "Now then, who ever said I was pretending to be a barkeeper?" The sidearm was now within her grip as she set a very annoyed glare on Elly. "Maybe I am a bartender, or maybe perhaps I am just being a bartender to pay the bills hmm." The sidearm was now lifted out of its holster and was hanging in her left hand. "So tell me, what is outside that window? Should I be concerned for my own safety?" She jested clearly a bit angry she was about ready to pull the gun up and shoot but that would be a bad impression on her part.

“No such thing as friends these days Graves.” Elly tossed the jaded reply to his question before he went outside to deal with them. It seemed, as she’d predicted, the Outlaw was more than capable of handling the riff raff on his own.
Even as Krutis started in with the questions, her green eyes remained on the door, waiting and worrying. Elly knew loaded questions when she heard them though and the only answer she could give the woman at first was a chuckle and a shake of her head, as if she ought to why already.
Finally she glanced over and narrowed her eyes. “Lady, I have been serving booze since I could work. I know every aspect of it from bar-backin to running the place. You’d be plumb out of business by now if this was your business.” The sound of a gun being lifted from its holster was unfamiliar at first. Elly had been listening for the sound of gunfire and if it were not for that, she might not have made the connection.
As Krutis jokingly asked about her own safety Elly considered that the gun might be for the men outside but then quickly discarded the idea. The Outlaw had them all well in hand and any idiot would know it. That was for her. With great care she raised her hands palm out in a small gesture of surrender and replied “Not half as worried as I should be for mine.”
Slowly as she could Elly turned around, her head lowered contritely as she tried to explain. “Look, I'm sorry. It’s been a rough few weeks. My bar got blown to hell then I got taken hostage, left for dead and I just spent my only coin on stale beer. All I want is to get my keys and get home again in one piece.”
Her gaze moved upward till she could look Krutis in the eye. “Now in my own defense, I didn't take you for one of those sensitive types and that's my fault. It’s obvious you don’t want me here and I’ll be more than happy to get out of your hair as soon as the dust settles alright?”

The very tense moment of silence from outside the tavern was abruptly interrupted by a series of gunshots and cries of pain. If Elly or Krutis were to look outside they would find only Graves left standing, the barrel of his pistol smoking still aimed in the direction of the three bounty hunters, who had most certainly lost to the former champion in the gunfight, sprawled across the ground in front of him. Grunting in disappointment Graves made a motion to turn around before stopping short, movement from one of the men catching his eye. It seemed one of them was still left alive.
"Yer' gunna look awful silly with that gun stickin'out of your ass..." Graves said menacingly through gritted teeth at the man, seeing that he was reaching his way towards the gun he had dropped when he was shot. The man stared up at the Outlaw, frozen with indecision before slowly inching away from his weapon. "Now I suggest you crawl back into whatever hole you came from n' tell yer' employer real nicely fer' me that if he don't take that bounty down he'll be grittin' his teeth to bite the sights off this six-gun, understand? Now get!" Graves told the man who nodded frantically in response, holding the gunshot at his leg after getting up to limp away.
After he watched the man limp off into the distance Graves went to the corpses of his two partners and quickly patted them down, taking any and all money they had on them. After briefly inspecting the weapons they had it was painfully obvious they were in such poor condition that they would be useless to him so he tossed them away and made his way back into the tavern. Unfortunately for Graves he would find a bit more than just the cold drink he had left on the bar counter to meet him upon reentering.
Elly was standing there, hands up in surrender to the 'bartender' Krutis who was reaching for what Graves figured was probably a gun. Raising his own he pointed it directly at Krutis knowing she was nowhere near stupid enough to do anything that'd risk her life. He only had two bullets left, but at this range there was no way he'd miss, so he boldly sauntered back to his seat and finished his drink before breaking the awkward silence. "You best be reachin' fer' another bottle of liquor down there or a bullet's gonna find a nice warm home in that skull o' yer's" he said threateningly, with a scowl set on his face as he stared her down.

Krutis gritted her teeth withholding the action of shooting this annoying woman in the head, maybe she needed to take a break so she wasn't so stressed and strung up. She closed her eyes and averted eye contact as listened to this annoying sob story in front of her. Once the story was over she glared up at Elly. "I wont shoot you" She stated in a grumble. "I wouldn't want to be on bad terms with that bear outside." She continued.
Just then Graves re-entered the bar and with the stance Krutis currently had she certainly didn't look like a safe person, she gritted her teeth again as Graves pointed the gun at her and knew exactly what he was thinking. She released the gun from her grip and a moment latter a loud thump sounded from the wooden floor. "hmph idiots always got to bring me trouble don't they." She closed her eyes and shook her head. " I suppose this means you wont be taking up my offer for Vodka huh?" She stood there ignoring the eyes that lay on her and fixating on a point on the floor behind Elly.

Elly replayed events in her mind, trying to figure out exactly what she had done to warrant having a gun drawn on her. By the time Krutis spoke up and said she wouldn't shoot, she still could not think of a single thing she'd done to provoke such drastic measures. Clearly not a pinnacle of mental stability, it seemed safer to assume that the woman could change her mind at any moment.
Just as the thought came to mind, a single gunshot tore through the air.
Cold terror sped through her veins and Elly’s eyes went wide in shock. The sound rang in her ears and drained the color from her face as surely as if the hundred pounds of crazy behind the bar had shot her.
Two more shots rang out and then a fourth.
Krutis hadn't moved. The sound had come from outside. Elly exhaled slowly but found no relief in it. Moments passed like hours in the tense silence that followed until the quiet was broken by the heavy thump of Malcom Graves’s boots on the bar room floor. He spoke from behind her and even though she couldn't quite make out the words, the threat in his voice was unmistakable.
Just when she had thought the worst of him, the Outlaw had come through. There was a dull thump as Krutis dropped the weapon. She seemed to reply but her voice remained background noise, drowned out by the thump of Elly’s heart as it hammered out its panicked rhythm inside her chest.
'Move' Instinct and the singular thought propelled her backward on unsteady legs but she could not take her eyes off Krutis until she found herself standing behind Graves. Safety, Elly's hand shook as she set it on the Outlaw’s back and whispered her thanks.

Graves had half a mind to just shoot Krutis and be done with everything. It was no skin off his nose, and after everything that happened the evidence didn't exactly point to her being innocent in all of this from his point of view. But the idea of killing this woman didn't sit right with Graves. Even though his threat to kill Krutis if she even sneezed the wrong way was completely real, there was a chance she didn't have anything to do with it so he thought of what to do next. As Elly retreated behind him Graves put himself protectively between her and Krutis, not wanting her to get hurt. He ran through the few options he had as far as what to do with her he noticed Krutis staring unusually hard at a particular point on the floor, which peaked his interest. This 'bartender' was hiding something, something good and the Outlaw knew it, he could read it on her face even if it wasn't where he guessed. It was like a tell you could see from someone in a game of poker, it was something he had learned well during his many years as a card shark and as Fate's partner. "What're you starin' at over there?" he demanded of her.
His impatience got the better of him and before Krutis would get a chance to answer his question Graves reached over the bar counter and grabbed her, roughly picking her up and bringing her out from behind the counter dropping her on the floor in front of him. "I asked you a damn question woman! What're you hidin'?" he barked impatiently as he cocked the hammer on his gun that was pointed right in her face. The last thing he needed right now was another surprise. One way or another he was getting an answer, if she didn't tell him he'd make her show him.

Krutis jumped as Graves made his demand and was about to say something when the next thing she felt was herself being tossed over the counter, bumping her knees on the edge and right down onto the floor. Her body twitched as though her head had been jabbed from behind and as she stared back at graves with a rather ghostly stare as her face flushed clean of all color, it was as if she was dying from some sort of brain hemorrhage. A very unfortunate turn of events placed a stray nail directly beneath Krutis' head which had penetrated her skull just deep enough for a quick yet painful death.

Elly stared at the woman on the ground, her mind literally boggled by the sudden collapse. Maybe she was on some sort of Zaunite concoction. It would explain everything, including the irrational behavior. She considered just getting the keys from Graves and walking away from the whole situation but felt a pang of guilt almost immediately.
With a deep sigh she moved out from behind Graves and stepped over to the barkeep. She placed two fingers against the woman’s neck and then frowned and tried again. “I think… I think she’s dead.” Elly blinked in confusion for several seconds before the idea began to sink in. 'How in the hell had this happened?'
The simple girl from Piltover shook her head slowly and then got back onto her feet. “Makes no sense. All you did was haul her over the counter.” Elly sidestepped around the body, looking back to Graves and then over the counter to where the booze ought to be. She heaved a wistful sigh at the idea of what she could do with a place like this.
If it weren't for the body on the floor she would have called it kismet. Her eyes went to Krutis again and she frowned. ‘Maybe just a bottle. Just one. She did want to kill you after all.’ Elly reasoned with herself.
In a few quick steps she’d walked behind the counter and grabbed the first full bottle of worthwhile alcohol she found. A vodka from the Freljord. There. It was done. She took a deep breath and then turned to Graves. “I think I'd better be going. You should too given the bodies that are piling up.”

Graves paused mentally as he noticed Krutis pale and slump over on the floor in front of him. He stood there bewildered at what had just happened. Had she just died right in front of him? As much as it didn't make sense that was th only conclusion Graves could come to. "Cold as a tire wagon" Graves muttered to himself verbalizing his suspicion. After Elly walked over to check the pulse his guess was confirmed. From what exactly the Outlaw couldn't put his finger on, but for all he knew it could have been anything as he had no intention of inspecting the corpse to figure it out. Having a penchant for gallows humor the Outlaw couldn't help but find the irony if she had just died of fear for her life amusing, which made him have to force back a chuckle and grin.
Graves grunted in agreement to Elly's suggestion to leaving and began to go for the door. Putting his hands in his pockets out of habit to reach for something to smoke he instead found the coin necklace he had grabbed up from the bar before reminding him of what he had intended to do before...whatever just happened took place. "Here, dead ain't got no use fer' worldly possessions. And Elly? Sorry fer' draggin' you into this mess..." Graves said as he handed Elly back her memento.

“I’m sorry too. I shouldn't have snapped at you before, or maybe I should have. I don’t know anymore.” Elly swept up the coin and just stared at it as it sat in her palm. Here she was in a new city with nothing but a gold coin and a stolen bottle of booze to her name. It was next to nothing but she’d worked with less.
Strange how just having something to hold on to could fill a person with hope.
“You do know I am not trying to stalk you right? I mean, I had to come. You have the keys to the motorcar.” There was a long pause before she added “…and I kinda couldn't believe you would just leave me there like that.” She chuckled dryly at her own naivety and then looked up at his grizzled face. “Pretty damn stupid of me right? I mean it’s not like we’re friends or anything.”
His face blurred as her eyes focused on the late barkeep’s body, lying on the floor behind him. Dozens of what if’s flashed through her mind before she could drag her attention back to Graves. “Ya know, they are probably going to have questions for me back in Piltover. Might not be a good idea for me to head back right away but I don’t like my odds of surviving here in Zaun any better.”
Elly scratched her head, heedless of the brown curls that went springing haphazardly around her fingers. "Hey Graves? What would you do if you were me?"

Graves shrugged at Elly's apology not finding her outburst earlier that big of a deal, if anything he probably deserved it. Looking one last time at the corpse of the woman on the floor Graves sighed in exasperation, what a mess this turned out to be. Two bodies outside rotting in the heat of the midday sun and one on the floor in front of him and Elly. And there was a possibility there were others foolish enough to come after him, and there'd be plenty of people in the way that'd be caught in the crossfire - that's a given. Checkign the ammo in his pistol one last time Graves scowled and tossed it aside, the two rounds left wouldn't do him any good, he needed a real gun, and soon. When Elly spoke again it broke Graves away from his thoughts.
"Relax Elly, water under the bridge" Graves told her as she clumsily tried to explain things. It amazed him a bit how she could be so caught up on her completely understandable outburst before when there was a bunch of dead bodies lying around. 'Least I hope it is...' Graves thought to himself. She was right, however, after what she had helped him do her future in Piltover wasn't looking to bright. "Well fer' starter's gettin' outta here would be a good start. With the dead girl n' two bounty hunter's who's heads wouldn'ta made a drinkin' cup fer' a damn poro rottin' outside sittin' around here ain't exactly too bright" he said plainly.
"I reckon' you can think o' somethin' after that, I'd put money that yer' smarter than I am. If ya' need help with somethin' just ask around n' find me. I ain't leavin' Zaun fer' a while till I get some things straightened out, I owe ya' atleast that much after Piltover." he told her, ruffling her curly hair a bit as he handed her the keys to the car they had stolen from her brother before made to leave. He wasn't going to need it and could get around just fine without it like he had in the past.

Elly rolled the keys around in one hand, unconsciously mimicking the thoughts rolling around in her mind as Graves spoke.
If ya' need help with somethin' just ask around n' find me.
That sounded an awful lot like an offer. It was one that the Piltoverian barkeep couldn't afford to refuse. It took her a second to work up the nerve but just before he reached the door, her voice filled the room.
“Hey Graves? Now that I think about it, there is something you can do for me…” Elly reached into her coat and slowly withdrew a pocket sized hextech revolver. It was an older model and showed little sign of wear, like it had been mostly for show.
There was a moment of hesitation before she held the weapon out to him like an offering. “Teach me to shoot this thing and we're even.”
