The arcs lashing out from His form retracted as Xerath addressed this newer entity. Either this mortal knew not to Whom he spoke or Orianna's presence had given him courage. Xerath moved closer and attempted to speak in a hushed tone, which still caused the air to tremble with its vibrations.
"Unless the Institute wants you to know, you will learn nothing more from them."
Xerath knew all too well the powers that be at the Institute. They were even able to hide Xerath until He had agreed to be a Champion in their primitive gladiator-style arena. Surely a couple of antiques would be no issue.
"Whatever the Institute has done with your trinkets, your scrolls, and your friends.. they are lost to you now."

"Then they can be convinced otherwise. I am not accepting 'no' for an answer, because then my friends will have died for nothing. If the Arcanum won't help me, I will find someone who will." Arren was shaking slightly, doing his best to keep his cool. It was difficult with the memories of his dead comrades so fresh in his mind. "The Institute may or may not know, but they cannot be the only ones who do."

Orianna stood silent, as the fleshling and the energy being were having their little discourse.
"Arren is angry." - she made an idle observation, the automaton's eyes were locked on him, observing the mannerisms and the way his voice trembled and body shook. It showed signs of anxiety, and considering the context of the incident...
Xerath, on the other hand, wasn't as easy to read or interpret. He had no face to speak of, his voice was distant and ethereal, impossible to see through, and his words were cryptic too. He made Orianna curious - the explanation only raised more answers. What did he mean by the things he had been implying? Tilting her head and looking at the Magus, she spoke:
- Are you accusing the Institute?
The question, though blunt and direct, was put in a neutral, metallic tone, with a tint of curiosity laced into it. Orianna was never one to doubt the organization, having promised them to be 'a good girl'. She never had any qualms or troubles since. But Xerath seemed to think otherwise.
- Why do you think the Institute would know anything?

"I am not accusing the Institute above anyone else, not at this moment. However, I am saying that they are the most likely ones to know where I should start my search. The Institute is, effectively, the capital of magic in Valoran. They know where the artifacts are, what groups are involved in their movements, and so on. And if not the Institute...who? Who else would have that information?" Arren was less angry now, almost pleading in his tone. To whom, even he wasn't sure, but he couldn't be facing defeat so early on.
"I'll write that letter to the director of the Artifact Vault. While Kourelan Empherlin reads it over, I can try to ask around in other parts of the Institute. I refuse to believe that there is no trail to pick up." Soldier's training, helping him to hold himself together under stress. Things might have changed, but he was a soldier at heart.

((Sorry for not posting for a while... I may have fried my motherboard. I'm posting from my phone again. ))
"The Institute did not become the magical capital of Valoran on its own power. They have always gathered and collected their power from the true geniuses."
As Xerath spoke, he knew he was saying too much. The Institute was the key to Xerath resuming his ascended state, but they also were the best suited to prevent it. Still, everyone needed to hear about the injustices brought upon Xerath and countless other mastermind scholars and inventors.
Xerath paused long enough to hear the mortal's emotional drivel. He realized that he could not let his accusations go unchecked, lest the Institute be more aware of his plans. It was best if they did not yet know Xerath's true intent.
"I'm not saying that the Institute is responsible for this particular incident, or that they are even concerned with it, given their current focus on pillaging the artifacts if Shurima..."
Xerath paused once more to collect his emotions, hoping to do a little damage control.
"I'm only saying that it is quite possible that if these baubles are as strong as you claim, the Institute more than likely knows something about it... And if they know something and they aren't making any statement about it, they have their reasons."
