The dangers of the Kumungu are immense, but so is her beauty. Nestled between the monstrous tropical trees and ferns lies a network of perfect pools, so seemingly serene.
Magic has scarred this place, but it has caused the wilds, instead of growing barren, to change into something unexplained, something powerful and bizarre. Newcomers would be captivated by these ponds, drawn to peer through the waters' perfectly still surface, into the reflection of the canopy above. It's impossible to tell how deep the water is. Maybe if you just... took a dip?
The early morning sunlight glimmered along the crystal clear pool through a perfect opening in the trees. It was one of the few perfectly located spots Nidalee enjoyed spending most of her time when she simply wanted to get away and relax for awhile. Not many knew about this place, but it was also not difficult to find. The water always somehow managed to retain a perfect crystalline clarity, hence its given title of the mirror pools.
She quietly removed what little leather and fur coverings she had, placing them beside the glistening pond, and stepped in. She rarely saw any humans wandering around these parts, so she cared little of being fully bare to the non judging eyes of nature. Stepping in, her body was immediately submerged within the warm caress of the morning sunlit water. Her mind went blank. It was relaxing ecstasy.

However, little did Nidalee know...she would not be alone for long. As Garth made his way through the Kumungu foliage. His destination? The Mirror Pools, the exploration group he had hitchhiked with from Piltover had made camp. The group was here to catalog the exotic species of planets, animals, and other creatures that could be found in the vast jungle. They meant to do no harm, just observe the wildlife.
However, over last night's camp fire the group began to tell rumors that they heard. One of them was that anyone, who is lucky enough to find the Mirror Pools would be granted a wish, if they were to drink from the pool, or toss a single gold coin in it. Of course, most of the group considered this to be fairy-tales and myths with no real truth, after all that is what they say about fountains right?
Garth on the other hand, perhaps in his naivety, took it to heart. After all Aunt Ada had sent him off to see on the world, most likely to rid him of his naivety before he sought apprenticeship under Caitlyn. She wanted Garth to be careful and not get any stupid ideas, like wandering off by himself, which he is currently doing. For he is the only thing Ada has to remember her deceased sister by, and she would hate to see her legacy end due to his foolishness.
Garth readjusted his beret cap, and pushed foliage aside. He had chosen to take the route, that led to the Mirror Pools. For research reasons as well as for his own reasons to make a wish. While the others didn't believe in it, then what did Soraka do? If she did not grant wishes on the Fields of Justice, then she was merely a fake. Given Soraka's powers, she was anything but.
Eventually Garth reached a brush and gently pushed aside a part of it, just enough that he could see through it with his eyes. A glare reflected off perhaps the cleanest water he had seen outside of Piltover. The planet life was thriving here, and it looked as though he would be spending hours to gather all the data he needed for the expedition team. His eyes continued to explore the area around the Mirror Pools from his hiding spot..eventually he saw what seemed to be fur clothing. A top and skirt? Upon discovering this his eyes drifted back over to the pool where he saw a female, who looked strangely familiar.
'A native.' He thought as he let the branch and leaves that he moved to survey the Mirror Pools return with the slightest rustle, 'Best leave, while I still have the chance.' With that thought he began to head back toward the camp, when he stepped branch. There was a snapping noise and Garth froze, silently cursing his luck. It seems his entry into his hiding place had caused a few loose limbs to fall, and now they might cost him his life. The young explorer slowly turned back to the Mirror Pools. He could not see anything due to the obstructing branches, but what about the native? Had she heard the snapping twig? A part of him desperately wanted to his rifle, LS-457, from his back. However, he feared that it would only make more noise, and attract the native's attention.
For now he chose to wait quietly.......and that alone was terrifying him

The huntress indulged herself in the sunbathed waters of the pool, merely one of many surrounding the area. It's been awhile since she took the time to make it up here for a bit of time for herself. It was the perfect isolated area.
Her eyes remained closed, running her fingers along her tribal-adorned skin full of hunting scars, each telling a story of their own, however minor. She flinched silently and stopped, nearly forgetting about a minor newly healing wound on her upper stomach. Kneeling lower, she emerged herself deeper within the waters, grazing a soft touch over the area once more. These pools were known to accelerate the healing of wounds, however slightly. It didn't bother her much anyway.
She let out a deep sigh. Her senses became all too aware, bathing here became a form of meditating for her. Being a huntress, her sense were already well practiced. And there was nothing around to distract her in the slightest.
"How long have you been there?"
Her back would be turned to the being, yet she didn't bother to cover herself up. Her way of life left her with no reason to be ashamed or embarrassed of her natural state. Though, she remained curious, but not too alarmed. Yet.

Garth was about to consider himself in the clear, when a woman's voice called out to him. In a language he could understand. He searched the trees, and his surroundings...surely she had not gotten out of the water without him noticing. That would have made too much noise, but after confirming that he was pretty safe he decided to answer. Though still a little scared, which led to a shy voice.
"I'm sorry...I didn't know anyone was here. I got here just moments ago and did not mean to intrude, I can leave and come back later." He replied as he slowly stood before adding. "I'll leave you...to your business, once again s-sorry for intruding." The good news is that she did not seem all that hostile, but he did not begin to move. He had an idea that struck him after he stood, but given he still did not know this native too well...he was not so sure she would be thrilled to go along with it. She may not appreciate the patience or the time it required. Most likely she preferred freedom to do as she pleased, or at least that was what Garth thought. He would wait a moment to see if the native had any further, non-hostile reactions.

Without turning around to face the voice, she stood up, and without a moment's hesitation she waded over to the pool's edge. Reaching for her garments, she paused, and snapped her head in the direction of the male's voice. He hardly seemed hostile, though she had a way of sensing that even before he spoke. She raised an eyebrow, and gripped her spear almost teasingly.
"Did you have business in these pools? Or are you referring to coming back later to watch me?" A hint of a grin crossed her lips, though she had hoped that would not come across as any kind of invitation. Something about him seemed far too soft to be exploring a place such as this. The kind of creatures that lie within this jungle were far more hostile and dangerous than she could have possibly posed upon him. It almost made her curious, naturally.
Without any regard to how visibly bare she was, she quickly slipped on her garments and turned to face him, spear in hand. The subtle grin left her features, and then formed into more of a curious appearance in response to his submissiveness.
"What? Are you afraid I'm going to eat you?"
She only then realized how insane that might have sounded to one who was foreign to her identity.
(Apologies, got my first full time job and had to adjust to the sudden schedule and managing free-time stuff properly.)

((It is fine take your time.))
"I do have a purpose to be here, but I didn't mean to peep. I didn't know anybody was here. I-I wasn't going to come back to watch you." Garth explained but he sort of feared that he insulted her, he added, "T-that isn't too say you aren't...p-pretty, but I m-mean I'm not that kind of guy. T-though I don't mean to come off f-flirty, I'm just b-being honest." He began to mentally kick himself for saying that. He should have just let it be. Though to others, he was clearly a little flustered, but he seemed to relax a bit when she was clothed.
Though he perked up a bit when she mentioned something about eating him, "I've read about cannibalism in, but I'm sure you would have made a move by now......right?"
The aspiring detective paused before answering his own question silently, "Yes surely you would have." He then increased his volume as he decided now was the time to make introductions, Anyways, how rude of me, I have yet to introduce myself. My name is Garth Marxian future detective of some city state than Piltover."
Zaun science is killing far more than its saving. I want to put a stop to that!
Nidalee simply stood there and stared at him curiously as he stumbled over his words. Had she really been that frightening? It baffled her, and partly amused her.
"What's the matter? Cat's got your tongue?" She let out a soft, low chuckle. Closing the distance between the two rather quickly, she looked him over carefully, watching and feeling his nerves shake. At what, she wouldn't know. Not having been around a native jungle female before, or afraid she would turn and eat him.
Wait, did he even realize who she was? It would make sense if he didn't recognize her, at the mention of cannibalism.
From a human.
Hah.
"Garth. Interesting name." She started to circle him slowly, "As far as your concern... we shall never know. Realistically, you are wrong. It all depends..." she was now behind him, closing their distance, "on..." moving closer to speak into his ear, "the hunter." With a grin, she pulled away and stabbed her spear into the ground.
"But don't worry, if I didn't want my prey to put up a fight, you wouldn't even know of my presence until you had a spear poking out of your forehead, unless you were highly trained in your senses and awareness of course. Besides, I've got spear and claw to choose from."
Before any warning, she had transformed into a large cougar, wearing cloth around her neck adorned with many sharp teeth of her previous kills. Her fangs resembled a saber, and a low growl emitted from between her teeth, but showing no hostility towards the man. Her fiercely lit golden eyes met his, before she returned to her human form, giving him a curious look as if she had forgotten something.

Garth nodded a bit, "I suppose you could say that, but I just didn't want to insult you." He explained and after the woman examined him closely she took many steps forward. She said his name once before she began to circle him, like some predator circling its prey. That certainly did not make him feel much better, but she stopped behind him. He heard her footsteps closing in behind him, and then her breath on his ears as she whispered 'the hunter'.
The noise of her spear being stabbed into the ground caused him to jump a little, and he turned around quickly. "Well it is good to know, that I'm not your prey, though I must admit you seem to be enjoying scaring me a little bit. Do you scare every traveler who happens to meet you?"
The young man stepped back as she transformed into a cougar and took note of the many teeth she had on the cloth around her neck, it seemed to be a trophy system of all her past kills. Nor did her razor sharp teeth escape him either. Then once her golden eyes met his eyes, as well as the augmented one, a look of realization struck him. He remembered where he saw her before. His eyes seemed to brighten with excitement.
"You're Nidalee! The Bestial Huntress from the League of Legends! Oh what an honor it is to meet you!" He said, his face was glowing like the sun (or Leona) from excitement. He gave a deep bow to the champion before him. He brought his gloved hand to his mouth before coughing and continuing, "Ahem, sorry about that I haven't really had a chance to meet many champions. Even the ones in Piltover are hard to meet, they are busy with all the work they have. Anyways, I'm here as part of an expedition team to catalog some of the plant life found around The Mirror Pools, assuming I could find it. Furthermore, I have some of my own reasons for coming here, because I have been told that The Mirror Pools supposedly grant wishes."

The huntress smirked and flipped the end of her long, high pinned ponytail over her shoulder. She grinned at his recognizing of her identity finally, but said nothing in response.
"Well well, interesting timing you have then. Not only have you sought the mirror pools, but you sought a rare sight of a champion, and nude, too! What are the odds?" She teased, watching him as she attempted to make his face flush even more.
She turned to the pools curiously, almost as if an immediate subject change to not put him on the spot too hard.
"Plant life, hmm?" She scanned around at all the foliage that decorated the area. Surely this was one of the more beautiful places in the Kumungu, and she had likely taken it for granted after all these years, having spent her life in the jungle. These were nothing too terribly new to her. Crimson red flowers bloomed with long strands, dotted with small golden seedlings that would glow at night, given enough sunlight during the day. Countless other various unique plant life thrived here, twisting and tangling among each other as if fighting for space, yet settling beautifully all together. Before turning back to face him, she spoke, her tone less teasing and a trace of sincerity crossing her voice.

That did it....the young adventurer's face turned red like a tomato, "You-you're enjoying t-this far t-too much." He commented looking at the ground in an attempt to hide this blush, "My e-emotions- aren't a t-toy for y-you to pl-play with. A-and peep-peeping on you wasn't even my-my purpose."
Garth noted the plant life gathered around the pools, this was a biologists dream location if they specialized in plants. His eyes darted to crimson flower plants with long standards and small...seeds? He moved closer and began to examine it closely, he had never seen this plant in any of the books he had read. However, it was not the only planet he hadn't seen in the books he had read, there were countless others that were thrived around here.
At Nidalee's mention of beauty he looked around, "Yes, I can see why. Not only is this a researcher's gold mine, but it is quite beautiful. Speaking of research, may be you could help me. You have lived here for many years, and you would know the traits of the plants around here better than anyone else." The young aspiring detective explained before pausing for a moment. Then after it passed he gestured to the crimson plant he was examining earlier,Tell me..this crimson colored plant here. Does it possess any special traits? or is it merely preparing to release its seeds to continue its species."

"Yes, the seeds here glow. You should see it at night."
A moment of silence passed over them. She studied him for a moment, watching him as he eagerly took in all the visuals he could, perhaps taking mental notes. He was utterly fascinated, which struck a bit of curiosity in her. Perhaps if she hadn't started her life here, this would fascinate her as well. The beauty she takes for granted unless she takes the time to note it.
"The pool gives off a soft glowing aura at night as well. It's pure, untampered with, save for some magic of past that shaped this place. Don't you need to get back to your crew? People usually lose their way back from here, you know. You've been more than distracted during your visit here to lose mental track of the way back. As beautiful as you might find places like this, equally fierce entities lie here as well. Distraction can be a dangerous trait."
Post by Garth Marxian on Jun 2, 2013 2:15:42 GMT -5
Garth took note of what Nidalee said, "Perhaps, I should plan a visit later today then." However after that he went back to his analysis of all the plants that were before them. Taking a few photos of those with too many characteristics to describe accurately, and taking notes of the ones that were easier to describe but just as beautiful. Then the Bestial Huntress made a comment of how he might want to head back to his camp, and how he had been more than "distracted".
"I may not look it or act it, but when the chips are down, you'd be surprised at what I can do." The citizen of Piltover said before adding, "It is hard not to be distracted with all this information here...though you certainly have proven to be quite the distraction." The young man might not have realized how that statement could be taken, as he was too busy trying to gather notes.

"Oh?" Did he just compliment me? - the thought raced through her mind impatiently, but she decided not to take any notice, he was already fidgeting around as if he had realised the context in which his statement could be taken. Her plan to make him embarassed worked... somewhat. How he acted when he was flushed like this however intrigued her very much, since it wasn't often that a man like this wandered in to the Kumungu jungles. "I didn't mean to. You were curious about this place, after all."
She sighed, laying down at the edge of the pool with her feet wading, paddling playfully. The man was still watching; she was aware. Scribbling into a little notepad, but about what, she couldn't care less.
"And now, I suppose you'll want to see said seeds in the pool at night?"
(( sorry if i'm doing something wrong this is all i can gather from the thread right now ))

((That's about right actually. I understand that it was difficult to jump into these shoes so quickly.))
Garth moved onto a planet with yellow petals it looked almost like a weed, but this one was far more beautiful. He noted a fine oily substance on a few of its petals. Water, perhaps? Or maybe it released a toxin of some sort to discourage predators from consuming it. Whatever it was Garth took note of it, but only offered speculation. He had heard that Nidalee was less than kind to those who sought to harm her territory. When Nidalee spoke again, he would turn to face her leaving the notepad at his side, "It's not your fault, I need to be more dedicated to my task since the group was reluctant to take someone as young as myself." With that said he noticed that she seemed somewhat bored. Perhaps he was not being a good guest? Or maybe she did not care about such intellectual studies that could save lives? Should he explain it to her? Would she even understand?
Garth pondered for a moment, before answering her other question, "I would, but I have not been a proper guest in the presence of someone as famous as you. Because I sense you are bored with my work, if you would prefer I could put this off, and do it all later. It would not be too much of a bother as my expedition will be here a few days, giving me plenty of time to research and return to this place. Granted, I will do my best not visit when you are....um...bathing."
