He took her sympathy, taking her hand gently in his. It was quite warm to the touch, nice. He looked towards her face with a genuine smile.
"I appreciate it but...I'll deal with it. I'll deal with him eventually." He knew all about what would come in time. "Things leave the marks and maybe even after it's dealt with, if it is, I may not be over it. Eventually I will move on past it..." It still burned but it wasn't sadness that plagued him, it was closer to hate.
Knowing that anger- though not to such an extent- Sonder nods, and squeezes his hand lightly. "One must move past it, or they'll be poisoned," she says, quietly, not wanting to seem over-suggestive.
Moving on from the subject, she nods again, this time more firmly. "What is there you want me to look for? Anything specifically suspicious or anti-Swain, or just... keep a finger on the pulse?"

"...I know." He calmed his zeal. "I cannot allow myself to succumb to my own darker desires." He admitted and agreed with her after the slight squeeze which he returned. His eyes remained fixated on hers, eye contact made without any hint of breaking.
"I'm not worried about the pitiful remains on the rebellion. But I want you to keep an eye out for anything. You live within it right, keep your finger on the pulse. Eyes open. You're a smart girl, you'll figure it out."
He didn't doubt her intelligence. But he was interested in seeing just how well she would perform as a second set of eyes and ears. He smiled at the thought. "Was there anything else you wanted to go over, if not the day is young yet."
Her eyes, nearly matched to his, flicker away before returning- and when they do, they seem closed off, just a little. Prolonged eye contact is one of the few things that causes her discomfort.
"I'll see what I can do, then." She smiles, knowing she's being trusted with a task of fair importance. If she can prove her worth to the General through this man... That ineffable smile widens further as she nods, her conviction clear.
"Is there anything you want to do? I've nothing planned for the day- but some lessons in magic might be useful."

"...Magic lessons or perhaps we could simply go out for a cup of coffee." He smiled as he watched her dart her eyes away. It was proper to maintain eye contact but he saw her reaction. The fact it bothered her seemed foreign to her, the fact she was more timid was funny.
"I know a place down the road, an outdoor one. I think you'd like it and I can promise you that we won't have a repeat of last time. We will be just to ourselves. Though, I'd understand if you would prefer to skip right to business and learning." Somehow, his smile managed to widen a little.
"I- suppose coffee could be good. Or we could do both?" Her confidence is more easily regained, now that she's had a chance to look away, and she straightens up. "I've always enjoyed a good lesson, and if they've got coffee strong enough for a fork to stand in... so much the better to burn on."
Grinning, she pats her stomach- it's been a source of fire her entire life.

"Hot coffee and pyromancy. I suppose they go hand in hand. I've never taken to cold drinks to help me focus though I prefer colder places to practice. I suppose it makes sense." He stood from his seat and made his way over to the door calmly and collectedly with a smile upon his face.
"It's settled. Both. We'll head back here after we enjoy ourselves. After all, everyone is entitled to a little down time." He grinned. "Just don't overindulge in it."

June 1, 23 CLE Trigger warning: Self-harm
As she rests on her fold-out bed, Sonder's thoughts settle on the Blade's Shadow- and it's neither the first time nor the last that this has happened. On the edge of sleep, his face will flash into her mind, that powerful voice speaking over the square, denouncing the General's ways.
He sounded angry- spiteful. The deceit she was employing now, in the half-hopes of getting on the General's good side... would he approve, if he knew it was with the intent of betraying him? Sonder sighs as she rolls over in her sheets, her body overheating. The way he held himself couldn't be described as anything other than menacing, even as he spoke out for the people.
But he's an assassin... so wouldn't a lie like that be okay? Or maybe not- he's honest with his steel and his words both. Though they may be on different sides for the moment, Rose wonders if she could ever relate to the assassin. When he spoke of changing Noxus... there are things that communication can change which blades never can, even if it takes longer. She sits up in bed, curling her arms around her knees.
It's foolish. In her right hand, the woman conjures a small flame, and holds it there before letting it go out, with a small, almost inaudible pouf. A resigned sigh escapes her. Knives are much quicker, and more efficient in sending a message.
Her heartbeat makes itself known, and she holds two fingers to the hot skin of her wrist. Her pulse seems such a delicate thing, pumping gently against her fingertips as it weaves through the threads beneath her flesh. If I were a threat to the rebellion, a weed among a patch of flowers, then he could end me- like that. The steady thumping races as she imagines the cold, cold blade tracing down, along her veins, slicing open the skin with ease. It might not even hurt, with how sharp he keeps his blades...
I just hope I can keep the appropriate things from the appropriate people. It's going to be hard to keep my affiliation to the rebellion quiet if I want them to know I'm still a part of it.
Am I still a part of it?
Sonder's forcefully reminded of the precarious position she's in. Between the Grand General and the nebulous rebellion, she'll need to be careful; if she slips too much to either side, she'll be dead.
Despite her worry, she grins in the dark.
"On the razor's edge."
