The Yordle Academy of Science and Progress - the pinnacle of yordle invention, and one of Valoran's leading scientific institutions. The academy offers free daily tours, and has replicas of several inventions on display; such as the Seven Lenses of Insight, a Reconnaiscance Operations Front Line Copter, a Drain Out Of Mana Machine, and similar.
When not in his personal laboratory (which also happens to be near the academy), Heimerdinger can be found here at the academy. Other noteworthy yordle scientists, such as Ziggs, can also be found here most of the time. Except for Rumble, because he misguidedly thinks that the Academy sucks.
Heimerdinger walked into the academy, waving and smiling at pretty much everyone he met with. He was a public figure, and while having to greet everyone in his way was rather tiresome, it was one of the few negative things his fame had brought him. Inside his office, he sat on his armchair and started reviewing the many scientific requests he got every day. Each one of them had to be carefully evaluated, and then either approved or denied. Many of today's great inventions, such as the Star Rods, or Zigg's Inferno Bomb had just started as rough sketches that sat upon Heimer's table, waiting to be reviewed.
Armed with ink and a pen, Heimer started hacking away at the paperwork.

Jon approached the great academy's entrance, the first time since he left with a doctorate from the very same place over a decade ago. However, it felt as if it he were still attending the academy itself; after all, it was the school that essentially made him who he was.
On this day, he was not on duty at the hospital, and so he decided to pay a visit to his mentor and friend, the Revered Inventor himself. Approaching the office just as he did when he came to ask the Yordle to be his advisor for his thesis years ago, he knocked at the door, and waited.

"What side you're on isn't of concern to me. What is of concern is that you're hurt, and I need to treat you for it." -Jon
"Contrary to what some believe, violence does not solve everything. In fact, it solves nothing." -Jon

Jon opened the door and walked inside, taking off his helmet in the process. Seeing his mentor again in the academy for the 1st time in years was... quite the surreal experience for him. Even after all this time, however, he still looked at the Revered Inventor as he did when he first met him the year he entered the academy.
Walking up slowly, he stopped a few feet from the desk. Noticing he didn't look up, as Heimerdinger usually didn't, he simply addressed him.
"Ah, Professor Heimerdinger?..."

The voice was somewhat familiar to Heimerdinger. He lifted his head to gaze at the visitor.
"Ah, Jonathan!" How are you, friend? A rather large amount of time has transcurred since we last met. How are you? Heimer finished signing one of the papers and then carefully placed it inside the inkwell.

Jon gave a slight bow upon being acknowledged.
"I have been doing well, Professor. It has been a long time... it's been over a decade since I last came to the academy, no?"
"Anyways, I've come here for a few things. First, there's a rather... interesting design, submitted by one of the students, that wished me to show to you, as a request for funding."
With that, he took out a document from his satchel and handed it to the Revered Inventor.
"In summary, the device would be some sort of 'healing grenade,' which when detonated, would release a healing aura that would allow for emergency stabilizing heals in a combat situation. The student was particularly keen on wishing for you to see this directly, and due to the student's excellent record I've come here to do just that, Professor."

Heimerdinger took the paper and quickly skimmed through its pages with a very determined look on his face. He nodded a few times and then took up one of his pens. The inventor made a few adjustments here and there. He placed it on the table and then stamped a green thumbs-up on its cover and handed it back to Jon.
"It does look rather promising, I have to say. I'd like to oversee this project myself, but I don't have the time. Would you be so kind to keep an eye on this student every now and again?"

Jon nodded.
"Will do, Professor," he responded.
"Another thing that I wished to bring up... examination week is coming up shortly, and there has been talk of... a revolutionary new way to... gain an unfair advantage. The other professors and TAs talked over this and wished for me to bring up the following question: how should we proceed with the examinations?"

Heimerdinger frowned and rubbed his chin. "An unfair advantage? Revolutionary, you say? Hmph... We must first learn more about this "revolutionary way", and develop countermeasures. For now, just investigate on the matter. If we do not learn anything about it, then I am afraid examinations will have to be postponed until we do."

"Very well then," Jon responded, "I shall inform the other professors and TA's of this."
"Also, there has been the issue brought up by the Piltovian government about the Academy's funding," Jon continued.
"They are requesting that a report be sent to them regarding how the academy is utilizing its funding. A level of criticism has been raised regarding the funding for certain research and projects, and now the statesmen have decided to bring it upon themselves to ask us to explain it to them."
"Several of the professors have compiled a portion of it already, but they believe it should be you that writes the summary. What should we do?"

"It is truly baffling that the goverment would make those assumptions." Heimerdinger sighed and took up his pen once more. Do not fret, Jon. I will get to it right away. I calculate that it will be completed by tomorrow afternoon. I'll send a messenger with it when it's done." He pulled a stack of papers from under his desk and started going over them. The professor started taking notes of income, research costs, material payments - everything, really; to make a "short" report on it. Other yordles would probably have used an abacus and a calculator, but Heimerdinger thought that would only slow him down.

Jon nodded, and stood by while he witnessed Heimerdinger perform his work.
It was almost a true sight to behold; a being, with the capability to perform calculations in his head faster than others could with computing devices was a small miracle in itself. The numbers, the statistics, the proofs; they were his work, his master-pieces, and he was the venerable artist.
When he was done, Jon spoke up.
"And, uh, professor, there's one more thing I need to bring up..."

Heimerdinger could not be bothered to lift his view for that.. "Ah, yes. Swain, Varus, Noxus, withdrawal from the League - quite an unpleasant business if you ask me." [/i]Heimerdinger sounded sightly disgusted by the topic.[/i]
