Beatrice cooed softly as the door snapped shut behind Daichi, as though offering her master consolation in her avian way. He remained silent as the carriage trundled forth, jaw set, crimson gaze trained out the window through a slit in the heavy curtains. The bruises that had spread across his face from its impact with Brand's head indeed gave him a ghastly appearance.
Outside, the sun had long set. The sounds of Noxian nightlife played through the streets, its licentious energy somewhat mournful, subdued. The moon rose up behind the High Command castle, casting heavy shadows on the city below. And on they rolled, Witherwood's spire looming in the distance.

While he had been quiet the entire conversation through, towards the end of it he had to remind himself that physically assaulting someone when no one had thrown the first blow was distasteful and unneeded. Despite the Grand General’s need for the arrogant summoner, he did not like him and he did not trust him. He was very similar to the Deceiver. When Daichi had departed, then and only then did The Hand of Noxus speak.
“I should have punished the insolent boy for speaking to you in such a manner Grand General.” He began, it was first a mutter beneath his breath but grew louder. “I will understand if you are in no mood for conversation, however I would appreciate it if you would give me your thoughts.” Darius focused his eye contact upon Swain.

The Grand General's fiery gaze fell from the window to the floor, where it remained some moments while he gathered his response. "My thoughts?" he said finally, turning to look at his second. "That he is but a child, incapable of separating the personal from the professional, but regardless of his impertinence, fealty will motivate him to succeed."
Perhaps this was the insight Darius sought--perhaps not. Swain turned to cough into the sleeve of his robe: a succession of bronchial wheezes punctuated by the perturbed clucks of his fiendish familiar.

“In regards to everything else, Grand General. Not the brat.” Darius reiterated in order to clarify his intent. He could care less about Daichi. “A lot has happened in a short amount of time.” The General coughed into his sleeve after several wheezes, a reminder of his current state of health. Both were sore from their encounter from Brand and the General constantly had a great deal upon his mind.
“No one else is listening. You can speak freely here if you desire to.”
His expression had since stopped being stoic, his brow furrowed and he let himself relax, if only slightly.
Behind the distancing carriage, the feline made her way through the trails left in the muddy roads it ran across. Blackened, like the ground around her as nightfall settled and the moon shone its rays across the landscape gave her camouflage from unwanted attention.
At the sight of the carriage stopping, and a single soul exiting it before it trudged onward towards its destination, Emuishere would pause quietly. She contemplated approaching, measuring the body language of what she soon identified to be a human left behind. The cat cautiously approached Daichi, weighing the potential given what little of the conversation she had heard in her time beneath it. A light mew would be offered to alert Daichi of her approaching form when she believed it might be safe. A call for attention. Her light padding brought her ever closer, but still kept some distance as she pawed at the air in front of her with another gentle mew.

"Indeed, much has happened," Swain affirmed. He sat in silence for a few moments. The weight of current events seemed to cascade over him, settle upon his drooping shoulders, his face darkening by the instant. Finally, he returned his gaze to The Hand, brows knit in an uncharacteristic expression of distress. "War is coming. Not a war of our choice or design. Not a war from which the Institute will not be able to provide protection."
He pinched a trembling thumb and forefinger on the bridge of his nose, shut his eyes against the gravity of the situation, exhausted. "All we can do is prepare our nation for impending disaster."
He dropped his hand from his face, clenched his fist in his lap. Fire blazed again in the burning embers of his eyes. "So long as I still draw breath, Noxus will not fall. We will not allow it. And we will use every asset at our disposal to ensure her prosperity."

And what was this? A cat? Daichi approached the stray animal that was mewing for attention and knelt in front of it. “Hm? Left out in the cold too eh? Well, no matter.” The animal looked very exotic, well taken care of. A breed he had not seen ever. It begged him to question who would abandon such a lovely animal? Then again, it seemed almost unnatural.
"No name tag. So, what are you doing here kitten? You've strayed far from home. I suppose for now I can give you one.” Upon closer inspection he realized that he may have seen this particular feline before, but he couldn’t put his finger upon it.
“Now where have I seen you before?” He scooped the feline into his arms, stood and began walking in the opposite direction of the carriage.

“We’re assailed from all sides from threats Swain.” His tone was familiar now as he allowed himself to soften. “Clarify for me, war from who?” He spoke in order to make sure that he wasn’t receiving the wrong message. Darius wasn’t the idiot many believed him to be, however Swain saw so much more than he or any other Noxian did. His ambition and ability to act tactically were above all.
“Noxus will never fall so long as we draw breath. She will weather the encroaching storm and will rise above whatever will come. We will see to it ourselves.” Everything Darius did, had done was for Noxus. Every action was to make his nation stronger. He lived for it, breathed for it and if need be he would die for it.
