He looked at her intently as she explained what had happened. When she spoke of her childhood, It oddly reminded him of His own childhood several decades ago. As a child there was not much that a kid could do for fun in the icy plains. Most of the kids would resort to small harmless pranking to pass the time until nightfall.
Then she started talking about how she came across the man. He could easily see the situation. The angry man holding on to the scared little girls wrist, and her pleading for forgiveness...all over a roll. It was the kind of man that deeply disgusted Nevin. He could understand her attempts to plead with the man and her offer. Anyone else in her position would probably have done the same thing.
One thing was certain, If he ever would have met the man he would have likely beat him to a bloody pulp. Lucky for that man then, that he died in that instance. A slight tinge of anger and sympathy came across Nevin's eyes. There was no reason for a young adolescent to have to go through such trauma. He knew all too well that mental and emotional trauma was just as bad, if not worse then physical trauma.
"I'm so sorry, Sonder. You should of never had to go through that..." He wasn't able to think of anything else to say. what could he say to that? Compassion for her, and disgust for the man was ridden on his face. He continued to hold her hand and even squeezed it slightly.
"It's Rose. You certainly know me well enough at this point." She grips his hand in return, seeing the emotion swirling behind his eyes. For whatever reason, it feels like she's learned something about strength that day, and she smiles at him.
It's... not the alcohol. I think I just needed someone to talk to.
With her story over, she's uncertain what to say- but she moves her arm again, just slightly, tucking the coat sleeve again over her scar. There are more in other places, smaller scars with smaller stories, but she's done talking about scars for now.
He would return the smile. It would suprise him that she would reveal her real name to him. "alright then, Rose. Its a nice name, I like it." Sonder was likely her surname, He thought. It was quite a lovely name to him. It was quite appropriate, considering her beauty.
His face became softer, he wanted to lighten the mood again. "Anyways, We didn't come here to sulk. We are here to have fun, right?"
The student before him nods firmly, not wanting to dwell on the past any longer. Her smile shifts in expression, from not knowing if she's said too much to something a little more honest- a smile for parties, and shelving bad memories to have a good time.
"Well- I think I've had enough; two Screwdrivers and a Flamespitter are good for tipsiness, while retaining... most of my capacity for thought. Did you, ah, want to go somewhere?"
Her foot moves under the table, resting lightly against his thigh again, and the look in her eyes changes. Now, her stare seems to suggest she's after something more certain than nebulous emotions, something that she can wrap her arms around and press her mouth against.
He took notice of her change in tone. He definitely noticed her foot on his outer thigh again. It was clear what she wanted, and She wasn't the only one. He tapped his finger on the table, allowing the ice to form on his nail to make a more emphasizing sound. He would grin at her suggestion.
"Yes, actually. Not quite sure exactly where yet, but definitely somewhere more...comfortable." He would pause for a moment "I guess the question now becomes: Your place or mine?"

The ice over his nail causes her to raise an eyebrow. Only when he's nervous, hm? Seems he has more control than he'd admit. Casually, she reaches over to the candles and pinches them out, seemingly heedless of the flame on her bare skin.
"Yours, I think," she replies, with a smile. "I feel I ought to warn you, I don't forge long-term arrangements over a night, and when I do, they're... different." Something flickers behind her eyes for a moment- memories of defending her parents from the words of cruel children- but it's gone before it lasts long enough to warrant further questioning.
"Just don't expect a lot of romance~" Rose stands from the table, her hand still in his, and nods at the door.
He would smile back at her. He really didn't expect her to pick his own place. It was a simple apartment but more then cozy enough. When she commented about long-term arrangements It was understandable, but then again he really didn't plan that far ahead, much less what had already took place. Her bringing it up, and the comment about romance did raise a few questions in his mind.
He would have to deal with them later however. For now, her hand guided him to get up along with her. "Fair enough." He replied. A less then innocent smirk came across his face "Lets go then. Its not too far, it wont take long thankfully."He would begin to walk towards the door, guiding her along with him.

Rose had chosen his apartment out of a certain distrust- she didn't think he would do anything unwanted to her, but she didn't want him to know where her apartment was, in case things went badly. The comment she'd made about romance was to solidify her view on it; she didn't know how things worked in Freljord, but the emotions he'd shown as she told her story concerned her. She didn't want him to think the wrong thing.
The smirk reassured her, on the other hand. That's an expression she was much more familiar with, and it was similar to the one she wore. A quick scan around the tavern reassures her- the waiter who'd been keeping her tab was at another table.
She hurries her steps a little, taking the lead as they approach the exit; the bartender seems to not notice them, and she sighs in relief as they step out into the street.
((Shall we do a walk home, or would we rather wrap things up here?))
