March 4th, 23 CLE
The Freljordian night was foreboding and bitingly cold. The wind blew fiercely, howling across the barren waste of that the Winter Claw tribe occupied. All were on edge, they had braced adequately but many wondered if it would be enough. A scout rushed back, his face was pale with fright.
“They’re coming! They’re coming! To arms!”
Sejuani was among the first to respond, immediately she rushed from her hut. She had already donned her helmet, acquired her weapon and dressed in a leather hide armor that adequately protected her person. While she could usually afford to go without it for the sake of maneuverability and comfort, tonight was an exception. She could not afford to be without it, the stakes were far too high. She immediately began rallying those who were preparing. Not long after, she mounted Bristle and made her way towards the center of the village.
“I want no point undefended! This is where we will stand and this is where they will die! For the Winter Claw!”

From the west the sky grew darkened, like those who were present in the Icathia campaign would recognize to their dismay. A laugh echoed throughout the lands followed by a dark and foreboding voice announcing the closing void horde. The voice boomed in the ears of those defending the village.
"Syah'h Fm'latgh N'gfht"
Like locust the Void mass appeared, spilling over the hills, mountains, and crevices. A never ending sight of terrible creatures and warped humans shambling and marching with slaughter on their minds, swords, and Scythes. Each creatures body was perfected to be a lethal killing machine from the smallest voiding to the largest ones. Across the frozen wastes echoed growls and otherworldly laughs, directed at unnerving the defending troops. The sight of a true challenge excited many of the beasts...
Worst of all, something rumbled under the ground...something terrible and large was waiting under the very soil. Waiting for it to be commanded to strike...waiting to feed.
Over the mountains came a large red creature most would know as Cho'Gath, the Terror of the Void. He was an unfathomable size now from the feeding of many barbarian tribes and his kind alike. The most that could match his size would be a dragon or an unknown creature of the depths. He chuckled and let out a loud and terrible roar, ringing the ears of those at the camp and he uttered a single threat before continuing the march.
" YOU WILL KNOW TRUE TERROR! Followed by a loud laugh. He was confident today there would be a slaughter.

Most of Baker Squad was on night-patrol, keeping an eye out for anything suspicious, when the warning call went out.
"Alright, Medics! To the guns, go! Go!" Lieutenant Hixon ordered. Speedily, the squad scrambled up to the ledge where the HEMGs were set up. Taking up positions and loading and turning the guns, Hixon took out the infrared range-finder to see the void, calling out the various factors for the gunners to be able to lay maximum fire.
"Azimuth sector 3-X01, 500 meters, North 10' West. normal belt-feed, standard shots. Keep your fire accurate, and stay aware of your surroundings. Anyone who isn't on gunner or supplier, get your M1s and add to the fire; keep an eye for anything trying to flank us," Hixon commanded. Cpl. Luz-Grimes and Pvt. Heffron got their M1s and took aim down the field the void were coming from.
"Alright, wait until they hit the target range. And remember, men... our orders are to hold this position until the relief force comes in. I'll man the radio," he added, taking the radio and setting it up next to the guns. He began to adjust its frequency to get to Maj. Lewis and Abel squad, which was with the relief force.
"Hey, wanna have the drinking bet here? Whichever gun tags more of these Void $#@$'s gets a free round from the other?" Pvt. Alley-Simmonds challenged. The two guns each had different tracers; Simmond's gun had red tracers, while the other gun had green ones.
"Sure, but hope you've got the money to buy some expensive drinks then!" Pvt. Martin called back, and the Medics had a pretty large chuckle in-between themselves. Hixon's mind wasn't on that, though; his was strictly on his orders: do not let the Void get through, at all costs.
The medigun was close by too, though he hoped he didn't need to use it...
but he was sure of one thing; the defenses, and the PMC, would win this fight.

((EDIT: not be left out, www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MJCaCXQOPo fits the theme. This is not battle of glory, this is battle of survival against a foe of darkness and terror. Woe, for it is the VOID!))
Shyvana had been working on the defenses with the Demcian Vanguard she brought with her, when the sound of the void reached her ears. Her eyebrows furrowed, and immediately she shouted orders to the Decmian troops. Wordlessly, they all advanced to the main line, Shyvana herself leading them. Once they reached it, Shyvana threw up a gauntlet, and the troops halted, crouching low in a battle stance, sword and spear alike.
"VOID" She growled out, slowly, flames engulfed her form, her voice becoming more growling and vicious. "THIS IS WHERE YOU FALL, THIS IS WHERE YOUR ADVANCE STOPS." Gauntlets became the helmet, armor grew and squeezed tight around her new body. The flames grew higher and higher into the sky as Shyvana's voice roared into the Void assault. "FLAMES WILL BURN YOU, TALONS WILL RIP YOU TO PIECES, JAWS WILL TASTE YOUR BLOOD." Soon, Shyvana's form began to show itself from the fire. "I WILL DANCE IN YOUR ASHES." Talons slammed into the snow as firey eyes glared at the void onslaught. Shyvana's dragon form was massive in size, towering above all but Cho'Gath.
"YOU WANT TO SEE TRUE TERROR!? WITNESS THE POWER OF A DRAGON!" And with that, Shyvana let out a devastating roar that shook the very ground. She would tear them apart...

At the back of Shyvana's Vanguard, hidden behind a snowbank, a yellow portal opened up, quickly followed by a being in golden armor. The portal snapped shut behind him, and he scampered to his feet, following in rank behind the Demacians. Looking around, he saw the void mass. So there may be a mask here.
He sprung apart from the rest of the company and scrambled through snowdrifts, making his way past the front and around Shyvana. Staying out of sight, he climbed to the highest point he could manage. If the void was here, that meant there was a very good chance everyone was going to get slaughtered. He would have to try his best to keep that from happening. Drawing his javelins from his back, he stood up tall, giving off light from his armor, as well as the darkening sun. "For release! For freedom!"
A shining light for all to see...a bright light for all eternity...

Even the Voidreaver was amongst the horde his fur tugged by the cold winds, his carapace a dark blue purple, resembling his fellow brethren, he would use them to cover his advance until he reached the settlement.
((So should we all do some sort of post to get attendance and then we start using our dice number for turns?))
((I'm actually confused about this too. Presentation/roll in first, then let initiative decide?))
((I believe this is how it's going to work; after all, if we were to get into the fight head-on, we're already out of turn, seeing Cho'gath post ahead of me yet I'm 1st initiative.))
((Also, would be a good idea to delete these posts once the order's been set, so as to not clutter up the thread.))
((And to Rudmed below: I think there's a field where the melee itself will ensure; as to fortifications, there's a high natural ledge where the Medics and the MG's are, and yeah, I'd think a raised wall/trench for those below as well.))

"In this world, we're a team. There is no I in team, simple as that. We either work as one, or we all fail, all seperate from each other." -Lieutenant Hixon
The inquisitors of the Final Truth order stood in a line well armed and prepared for the bloody work that awaited them. They stood fearless Rudmed in the very front of their line. His eyes looking over the encroaching void mass that threatened the settlements very lives. They were drenched in sin from all the murdering and pillaging they had committed before arriving here. This stirred a fury within all the inquisitors' hearts. A fury that would not be extinguished until righteous retribution was brought upon the void mass.
A torch in his hand he turned back to his subordinates. "Battle Brothers and Sisters! Approaching us is the sinful enemy that we so despise! An enemy that takes innocent, defenseless life without remorse or pity! And now they seek to do the very same here! They justify their false ideals with evolution and the fact that the fall of Valoran was predestined! All of it is lies! They merely wish to kill and glutton themselves on the blood of those who they have slain!"
His subordinates looked at Rudmed quietly listening in awe, or perhaps fear had frozen them, an issue Rudmed planned to address. "Those you who feel fear! It is only natural, but that is the reason these beasts succeed! They want you to fear them so you will lay down your arms and cower before them! If you do so these weak creatures will crush you underfoot! However, if you stand against them, like I know you will, with your righteous fury they will due and cower before you! You will slay them in justified retribution! Normally our righteous fury and weapons would be enough to defeat this force, but today we are not alone! No today we fight alongside allies who have come to stop this menace from plaguing the lands they love! Today we stand along Demacians warriors led by their champion Shyvana, the Half-Dragon! The Winter Claw Tribe and their champion Sejuani, the Winter's Wrath! A company of brave medics stand alongside us as well! Ready to pick the void creatures apart with gunfire! Then Leona the herald of the Sun stands with us today, undoubtedly ready to protect the lands she holds dear. Finally and perhaps our wisest ally is Kassadin, The Void-Walker! A man who saw the darkness and sin of the void but turned his back to it! He would not let such an evil presence corrupt him and he stands with us today as a testament to the fact that the Void can be defeated!"
There was a cheer from the inquisitors and Rudmed ended the speech at last, "Today! We shall prove that fact once again! Here and Now! The Void Menace can be DEFEATED!" The group gave one last cheer as Rudmed turned to face the void mass that approached the settlement. Torch in hand he was ready to spring their little trap on the Void creatures.
((By the way, is it safe to say that we are standing on a wall? What fortification does the village have?))

((I think it works like this, everyone makes an intro post, then the orders kick in. At least that's how I'm assuming this works. Also www.youtube.com/watch?v=LbC3dhA5bH8 ))
Leona had still be talking with the medics and examining the back lines, she was about to speak when the sound of the void tore through the air like a blade on paper. All of the the softness that usually highlighted Leona's features was gone, replaced by the visage of a warrior on a mission: To protect all she can, and wipe this blight from the earth.
Leona was right behind the medics as they took off, sword and shield in hand. Leona then climbed up a nearby latter to come to rest on a tower, turning to face everyone. She raised her sword in the air, a ray of Sunlight actually acting like a spot-light on her form.
"Brothers and sisters of battle" Leona's voice rang out. "Do not fear these creatures, that is what they want you to do. They want you to be scared, to be weakened. I am here telling you that they are nothing! They are just as mortal as us, if you cut them, they will bleed, and if they bleed, they will die." The Sunlight around Leona seemed to intensify as she spoke.
"They are not to be feared! We will be victorious! And those of them that do manage to crawl away from the battle will know the true fighting spirit of us, the true fighting spirit of Valoran!" And with that, Leona lowered her blade and turned around, looking off into the incoming void. She would break their line, and protect all she could, for the Sun was her tool, her weapon.

At the top of the mountain stood the Prophet. Floating on top of the corrupted blanket of snow, he looked down at the resistance of The Winter's Claw tribe. He laughed quietly to himself. Is this all they have to offer us? he thought to himself. He looked down at the creatures of the Void who were charging into the fray. Small voidlings, medium sized, flying ones with claws and the magics of the Void for air assaults, large ones with horns and large feets ready to knock down constructs and barricades, all of them adorned with armor to protect them for the frontal charge.
He turned back to the void beasts and others who converted. There were still PLENTY more. More to last days, weeks if they can distribute their forces equally. Though in the front stood a large amount of a specific species of void beasts. They're just as big as Malzahar, some of the more grown ones even bigger. They looked like large beetles infected with Void corruption, except that they had odd looking lumps on their backs which let out this odd looking purple steam. "Hmmm... We must make sure you are all ready. Which one of you would like to be a test subject?" He asked.
From the crowd of what's left were a group of test subjects that the Void was using to make sure their loyal creatures able to battle. He let a few of the test subjects near one, as they quaked in fear. The creature let out a shriek as more of the steam came from the lumps on its back. It came charging at full-speed, which was rather fast, and slammed into them. It let out one final screech before exploding, letting out purple ooze on the people. They began to scream in pain as the purple color spread throughout their body, and began to morph their shape. With inhuman roars, they got up as they were now part of the Void. He smiled behind his cowl and nodded slowly with acceptance. "Good... Very good." He said with a laugh. He turned back to the creatures. "<They think they can outdo destiny. Fah! These mortals are arrogant fools who only wish for themselves and not for the ones above them! On this day, we shall ring the bells in their minds with immense force, telling them that they are UNABLE to outdo Fate's decree! On this day, we shall show them who is mightier, and on this day, their fate
WILL
BE
SEALED!!!>" He shouted with a hand rising into the air with Void energy. They all let out a roars and screeches in the praise of the Void. Portals began to open through the power of the Prophet, as they two began marching to attack from different sides of The Winter's Claw tribe.
High atop another mountain on the other side of the valley stood Kassadin, scrutinizing the line of abominations that spread across the horizon. The Voidwalker spoke, and his mystical and dark voice boomed across the glaciers.
Denizens of Valoran. On this day, we make our stand. We unite to defend against the threat that reaches out, and threatens to destroy everything, and everyone.
Make no mistake - these creatures can sense our fear. But they can also sense our resolve. Our collective will to survive... to endure... something they will never be able to understand.
Kassadin turned towards the armies of Valoran, that now stood ready to defend their land. He raised his nether blade into the wind, which burst into a purple streak of light. The light emanated outwards in the shape of a ring, and Kassadin's voice echoed once more.
Together, we strike. Together, we prevail. Together we will fight, and some of us may die - but Valoran will always remember that we made a stand...
Kassadin brought his blade down in front of his chest, looked at it for a few seconds, and then locked his eyes again on the enemy lines. In a lower voice, he spoke again.
...And many will die by my blade.
