March 12, 23 CLE
He had never been here before, which was a big surprise for many who knew him; Piltover - and secretly, Ionia - were the only places he had been to so far in his life. Alas, that would no longer be the case, for he was now finally within the grand city-state of Demacia.
Keeping to the sidewalk along one of its main streets, he kept steady pace, but as much as he wished to not be noticed, it was all but impossible: at 6'8, and with a number of oddities surrounding him - his four Options, glowing their usual orange, always hovering alone behind him, and the odd pack on his back, which was really a pair of folded medical arms attached to his will - he could only but draw attention from every person that passed by, noble, commoner, and beggar.
He was in his usual outfit, his medical fatigues feeling somewhat hot in the warmer climate in Demacia in comparison to his native Piltover, but otherwise fine. His helmet was hanging off the pack on his back, and he wasn't wearing his usual body armor; after all, he didn't expect to be attacked in a city ruled by Justice and order.
As to the reason he was here... well, it was simple, to him at least: he was on his break at this time, and seeing that Demacia was the most 'friendly' city-state to Piltover, it only made sense for him to come and see what the friendly city-state was like. It also helped that he was a public official of Piltover, and thus was somewhat recognizable by the other medical practitioners in the city-state.
Some of them happened to wave at him, and he returned it. A few children looked up at him and pointed at him, asking their parents who he was. One of them actually ran up to him, and in a somewhat surprising action to him, gave a salute; he returned it, and the child ran away, happy as a lark, telling his older sibling he was just saluted by the Chief Medical Officer of Piltover.
Indeed, it was a surprising visit to the friendliest city-state, and in this time of anxiety, it was important for at least some attempt in forging stronger ties be made.
It was a surprise visit to many, but not to Jon.

Gillam Dunwall was off duty, so he decided to take a stroll around the main streets of Demacia. He rarely had gotten the chance to do this, both in his era, and the present day. In his time, he was occupied with the military, and in this era, it was noble work. Needless to say, the work was exhausting, and Gillam needed to take breaks from the hard life of a noble.
He spotted Jon, and observed him curiously. The name popped into his head almost instantly. Jon Lewis. Chief Medical Officer. He had heard of this man all throughout Demacia. The main sources of Gillam's knowledge of Jon were from the Prince, when he recounted his tales about Icathia, but many citizens had talked of him as well.
Gillam decided it was time to introduce himself. He walked up to Jon. "Jon, Chief Medical Officer of Piltover. I have heard great tales about you, and I am glad to see you in person." Gillam promptly extended his hand outward. "Gillam Dunwall, Head of House Dunwall. It is a pleasure to meet you."
"No matter the era, I am Demacian, through and through."

Jon had just sent away the child who had saluted him when he was approached by Gillam. At seeing the offered hand, he took it, shaking firmly, but warmly.
"It's a pleasure to meet you as well," he began. "I... find it a bit... odd, to say the least, that a member of a house would greet me, but I am not one who questions that; after all I like someone of nobility that walks amongst the populace," nodding with a small smile at the note.
"...say, I don't reckon I've heard of your name amongst the more famous houses. How has your house fared?" He decided to get to know Demacia's culture, if possible; he didn't exactly realize the situation the man he was talking to was in...

"Ah, yes...the reason why you don't know my family...is because they are all gone..." Gillam paused to let that sink in, then continued. "You see, I am actually not from this time period. I was born during the Third Rune War. I enlisted to fight for Demacia, and I deserted during a major battle in Freljord. This is one of my biggest regrets, as I not only abandoned my nation, but my entire life."
"You see, I froze in that cave. I should've died in there, but some magical residue left from the battle became trapped in my pendant." Gillam held up the pendant around his neck. "I remained dormant until about a month ago, when I was thawed out by Nunu. He then informed me that I was frozen, and I had woken up more than 150 years into the future. And that is where I am today." Gillam took a deep breath, finally wrapping up his story.
"No matter the era, I am Demacian, through and through."

Jon's expression turned from one of affability to one of a combination of wonder and incredulity. However, as a Medic, he had come to terms with the fact that odd things would happen in this world, and he postulated Gillam was simply amongst them.
However, he did know that such a normal feat as humanly impossible, and he definitely didn't look his age. Thus, he posited a thought.
"Well... it's definitely not something normal I've heard. However, it does leave open the question... do you know how the condition froze you in the cave for so long? After all, normal climate effects in the region you stayed frozen in wouldn't let normal humans survive the freezing and thawing; something let you pull that off..."

Gillam took a second to think about that. He had never really wondered how he managed to survive for that long. Gillam just knew he was in a different era, and accepted that fact. However...now that Jn mentioned it, he had no idea why he was even still alive.
"I don't really know..." Gillam managed to spit out. "I mean, back in the Rune Wars, both sides used a huge amount of magic, but as for how that magic helped me survive... I am as clueless as you are."

Jon thoughtfully tapped his chin. So, this man really didn't know... perhaps an examination might yield the answer. Still this person was a stranger, and he wasn't about to go all up and about with that theory; thus, he decided it would be best to ask that when he got to knew him better. As it was, though, he was still relatively new, so he figured it'd be best to just continue to understand this man.
"Hum, well, magic's an interesting thing in this world; inexplicable outcomes become the norm..." he commented. "So, since you're apparently in a completely different time period... how have you come along here? I'll admit, I've never been in this city before, so I could be just as new as you are to this place."

"The city is different, however, I do remember a lot of it from my era. What strikes me as odd the most is how integrated different cultures are now. Back in my time period, there were only Demacians. The war was too strict on our borders, and we couldn't trust any city-states who weren't our allies."
"However, people from many walks of life are here in this city today. Piltoverians, ((is that how you say it?)) Yordles, Ionians. I talked to Ambassador Poppy about a month ago, and Bandle City and Demacia seem to be at excellent terms. I hope I can say the same for Piltover, too!"

((officially, it's Piltovian, but you can call it however you like, really.))
Jon nodded in response to the man.
"Well, at least you only have to deal with cultural changes, whereas I've never even been here; this place might as well be a foreign planet to me,"he replied to the first part, chuckling.
As to the second part, he raised his eyebrow somewhat. "Ay, well, in this world of advancing technology and times, people and yordles are more connected than ever before... and it is funny you mention that last part, as I am actually here on a small diplomatic mission on behalf of the Piltovian government to see about what ties can be strengthened, and if any new ones can be established," Jon replied, giving off a small smile at the end.

Shyvana had been going through her daily routines, she had just gone to the market and bought food for the week. Dressed in her usual attire, minus the helmet, Shyvana simply walked briskly through the city, the sack of fresh food slung over her shoulder. Her golden eyes were straight forward, children that began to wonder up to her were quickly pulled away from her, those in her way quickly got out of it, Shyvana frowned. If it was not for Prince Jarvan's kindness and proof of strength, she may have burned this place to the ground for the hell of it.
She was halfway to her home when she spotted a Demcain noble and... a man not of here talking, the Half-Dragon furrowed her brows, as much as she disliked approaching the noble, she was curious as to why this foreign man was here. She then simply walked over to the two, her golden eyes shifted from the foreigner to the noble before they rested on the foreigner
"Who are you." She said bluntly, shifting the sack slightly on her shoulder.

Jon was waiting for Gillam's response when someone else addressed him... wait a minute, was it who he thought it was? Could it... indeed, it was the half-dragon herself. He didn't expect a champion to see him so quickly, but nonetheless, he figured he might as well answer. Turning to the half-dragon, he spoke.
"Chief Medical Officer Xiang-Lewis, of Piltover," he answered.
"And I would suppose you're none other than Shyvana? The Half-Dragon?" he then asked in turn, simply nodding; he would normally hold out a hand in greeting, but he wasn't sure how she'd react to it; after all, she wasn't a normal human being, he knew that much.

Shyvana narrowed her eyes slightly, simply nodding at his question. "Yes, I am." She replied, scanning the man with her golden eyes. Only sparing a glance at the noble, it was clear she disliked being in his presence. "So.. Medic.. what is your business here." Shyvana then asked, turning her gaze back to Jon

Jon slightly turned his head, giving the question a minute to think over, before turning back to face Shyvana and answering.
"I came here officially on my own accord, to become accustomed with a city-state of which I have never before visited," he explained, "and to see how Demacia views my home city-state, Piltover, as well as see about the possibility of strengthening the ties between the two."
"Recent events have put the Piltovian government into a state of concern, and so I have been sent here to see what Demacia would see of possibly establishing a stronger trade agreement." Having explained his duties, he then waited for any possible response.

Gillam listened intently to the two converse. He had never introduced himself to the Half Dragon, and Gillam had heard that Shyvana had a very imposing reputation. He knew that she was Demacian and everything, but he was really uneasy around her, mainly because he didn't know what she was capable of.
"No matter the era, I am Demacian, through and through."
"I see.." Shyvana replied to Jon, sensing the uneasiness from the noble, her eyes flashed to him for a moment, then back to Jon. "It only makes sense you are from the City of Progress, you fit the part well.." She said, running her eyes over his gear.
