Gem recited the oaths. Regardless, they were pretty easy for him to bind to and accept. Gem had never been a malicious person, and he always had done good deeds for others. What he saw in Zaun, however, was unforgivable. That was why Gem was here today.

After the oaths were all recited, Nixon gave a nod.
"Alright, next part: drill commands!"
"At the end of this day, you will learn each and every command at heart! If I say it, you will perform it! I will show you the positions for each and every command, and you will mimic!"
"At the end of teaching, I will call commands at random, and you must correctly perform each one! Failure to do so will result in your failure in entering the Corps!"
"Now... here are the commands!" And with that Nixon began to perform the various drill commands: At Attention, At ease, Stand Easy, Relax, etc. These were the easy ones, and for the first time, no one was being dismissed...
...but that wouldn't last long, for there were even more commands to know, and they were getting increasingly complex: Change Step, Route Step, Close Ranks, Mark Time, Half Step, Double Time, and the like.
For these later drill commands, people were being thinned out once more, many of them unable to handle the pressure of the memorizations. Toye and Randleman continued to walk in-between the ranks, keeping an eye out for anyone who was off.
At the end of the drill commands, the 300 or so prospects had now dropped to 250...

Through a combination of drunken luck and actual memorization, Dmitry somehow managed to keep pace with the commands being given. Now, it was over 200 people that had been beaten by a drunkard. Dmitry was rather pleased with himself, but he made sure not to get arrogant. He anxiously waited for the next test.
"I may be drunk, but I can beat a sober man any day."
Spooks executed the basic commands easily enough, but already began to resort to retrocognition on herself to review the commands given- the ladies around her weren't as apt, and were slowly being culled as well. And like in dancing, it would've been poor form to simply follow the person next to you; a split second delay could ruin the choreography.
Overall, Spooks kept to herself how all this drill business was so serious.

Gem mimicked the commands fairly well. Due to his background in science, he could memorize information rather easily. He was beginning to become more confident as the ranks of the recruitees began to thin.

Upon the completion of the drill commands, Nixon nodded once more.
"Alright, to everyone who is still eligible... congratulations, you passed the first part of your first test! However, there are two parts to this test, and this second part, you had better be listening up!"
"For this part, you will stand at attention! Toye and Randleman will be inspecting you while you do so! If they notice something off, they will tell you! And you will correct yourself within 5 seconds!"
"Failure to observe any of the previously stated commands will, again, result in your outing from the Corps!"
"And so... ATTEN-SHUN!!!"
Toye and Randleman began going through each and every prospect, scrounging them for any minor flaw in posture, position, etc... if they noticed something, they practically yelled it into the person's face, making sure they understood. Several caved in under the pressure, and didn't react; others, shaking so much, were too slow in correcting their 'flaws.'
Slowly, but surely, prospects were again being ejected from eligiblity from the PMC...

Oh no. This was the hardest part of the test for Dmitry. In his drunken state, standing at attention was a considerable challenge. Nevertheless, Dmitry complied. He tried his very best to assume the correct position, and remain unmoving for the whole time. It was probably only through sheer force of will that he managed to do so.

Gem stood very still. He had practice when he was on the run from the Zaunite Law Enforcement, when he was hiding in alleyways. Usually, he was crouching down, but standing up straight wasn't much more difficult.
As the other recruits were filed out, Gem smirked. Don't get too cocky... he reminded himself, but he was surprised he had made it as far as he currently was.
Spooks glanced about for a good idea of how to stand at attention before the order was called; she was channeling her precognition now, and was able to know her mistakes before she was called out on them. She hoped the physical tests would come soon so she could take a break from channeling.
She let out a sad sigh. Too many females were dropping out it seemed. Was she going to end up the only girl?

Finally, after a good hour and a half of inspection, Toye and Randleman had finished chewing up, spitting at, and grinding down every single prospect that had remained; several of them broke down, while others shouted back and were obviously ejected without a further moment's notice.
With the final 150 prospective Medics remaining in formation, Nixon gave one last nod.
"Alright! If you have made it this far, congratulations, you have successfully passed the first of several tests you must complete in order to become a Medic within the Corps! Tomorrow, in this same location, will begin the 2nd test! You will need to come in clothing suited for incredibly rigorous and exhausting physical training, as this next test will gauge your physique!"
"Otherwise, you are all good to go; good luck, and again, congratulations on making it this far, even should you fail, it is still quite an achievement to have made it this far!" Nixon ended on a somewhat happy note. With that, all 150 prospects could now leave, though there would not be 150 left after the next test for sure...

At last, Gem's shoulders dropped, and he let out a grateful sigh. He had made it. However, he was aware the recruitment was far from over, but he was glad he had at least passed the first part of the test.

Dmitry was relieved to have been passing thus far. To him, the hard part of the test had passed. Next, came when he would prove himself. With a quick celebratory gulp of vodka, Dmitry stumbled off, to return for the next part of recruitment.

March 23, 23 CLE
This was it: the second and final - and real, for that matter - test, which would almost certainly only have a fraction of the 150 prospects pass through to become Medics within the Corps.
However, the Corps didn't want to make any mistakes in recruiting a wrong candidate, and so they were going to test each and every prospect in the most rigorous and difficulty way possible. And to do so, they had the prospects first... eat?
Indeed, the same three Medics running the recruitment informed all 150 prospects that they would be taking a rather enjoyable lunch in the hospital cafeteria, and so all of the Medics would be finding themselves sitting into groups of 6.
One particular group of 6 happens to be sitting some very interesting individuals: so interesting, in fact, that this table might be the one table that has all of it's prospects make it in; matter of fact, might be the only ones to do so...
...at this table, Rodger Leckie, Ethan Sledge, Joe Basilone, Bennet Watkins, Dmitry Breznyhev, and Elenwe Tray'neth have all been assigned this table to eat together; little would they know that these 6 prospects would soon be required to work as a team to get in, and the test would put each prospect's faith in each other, as well as their individual wills, to the test...
The food was pretty standard: spaghetti and meatballs with tomato sauce, and a glass of water nothing too fancy.
Leckie and Sledge got to their designated table first, with Basilone following soon after. While waiting for the others to come in, it was Leckie who looked up an began the conversation.
"So, I'm Leckie - Rodger Leckie. What's your guy's names?"
"Sledge, Ethan."
"Joe Basilone. Nice to meet you, Leckie," to which he held out his hand to him. Leckie took it and shook it rather warmly.

Gem was prepared for some sort of terrible, tough, and rigorous training. However, this was the exact opposite of what he anticipated. "F...food?" Gem's expression was as confused as a Rabadon's Deathcap on Lee Sin. After a few seconds of unchanged expression on Gem's face, he finally snapped out of it. "Aha! Of course! Food! What a pleasure!"
Gem sincerely mean that. He had barely found any food during his time as a refuge, and his best meals were uneaten items scattered across Valoran. His worst meals were...you can probably guess. However, this was possibly the best meal he had eaten since he was living in Zaun.
Gem sat down at his table just as the others were introducing themselves. After taking a rather generous of spaghetti and shoveling it down his throat, Gem introduced himself to the others.
"My name ish...Gem Watkinsh...niches to meet you." Gem was busy chewing some more food, and was attempting to talk wi his mouth full. "I'm sorry, I haven't had a warm meal in ages."
