The idea of carrying around spices seemed so impractical and trivial to Akali. She traveled remarkably light, but then the ninja shozoku was designed to be very diverse, multi-functional and worn for days on end if necessary. It mightn't be the most comfortable thing, but sometimes she needed endurance over comfort, practicality over luxury. Other times when she had the opportunity, luxury was spared. Such was the way of balance, to do something without in order to do something with.
She nodded her head, her ponytail bobbing with the motion, when he asked her if she was alright. "I'm fine, don't worry. Just a . . . memory," she said dismissively, attempting again to drop it. "What is a semi-automatic hextech Luger? It sounds as if it's some form of weapon, but I'm afraid on Ionia we rarely have interaction with such strange devices as what hextechnology and techmaturgy create, let alone inter-dimensional equivalents.."
Tekun saw her unease as she dismissed and then inquired about the handgun. It was odd considering that she inquired of it seeing how she dealt with fire arms on the Fields of Justice but Tekun thought she could use a little enlightenment.
“Alright. I’ll explain. Hextech is the slang or shortened term for Techmaturgey, which is technology fueled by magic. Think Zaun and Piltover. A almost all of that is Hextech.” Tekun checked to see if she was following. “Alright. Now, a Luger is a fire arm.” Tekun would cautiously reach into his cloak to remove the pistol. It was a slick black design, engraved on the sides with various markings that made it look more decoration than practical. He gripped it from the top of the pistol and held it away from Akali, the safety was off. He double checked that.
“Gangplank, Miss Fortune, Caitlyn, and Graves all use firearms. This is a pistol, like Gangplank and Miss Fortune’s weapons. Semi-automatic is a term that means it can fire multiple times in succession before it needs to be reloaded.” He paused. “Magic helps improve the weapons performance to the point where it functions quite reliably. The magic helps amplify the weapon, fueling it.”
He placed the pistol down, away from the fire and more towards her. “The safety is on. It won’t fire until you take it off by pressing that switch there.” He pointed it out.
“That particular pistol is a ZRL-08 Luger, the numbers are purely for identifying the model. That model which was manufactured in October of 18 CLE. It fires a .45 caliber round. A caliber is the measure of the round the gun fires. The Luger is capable of holding an eight round magazine, which is injected into the weapon through the bottom of the handle. Right now, there is a magazine in the gun. It has an effective range of approximately 50 meters and is a minimum recoil weapon.”
He paused and turned just a little red realizing how much he was droning on about one weapon. “It weighs a little over 2 pounds, and has a barrel length of 4 inches. An overall length of 7 inches…” He trailed off and rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly.
Akali suppressed a sigh of relief as he took the hint and moved on. She didn't really feel like spilling her mind. Fortunately enough ninja were quite good at holding their tongue on secrets if they saw fit; it always gave them that air of mystery because they rarely spoke of much that concerned themselves. Though her bait seemed to work a little too well, and he gave her the complete specs for his firearm. She dealt with champions using such devices, but the most she used in terms of gunpowder were small bombs. Firearms were still foreign weapons to her, and the idea of them didn't seem right.
"So much like Gangplank or Miss Fortune you merely aim it at someone and shoot them dead? That hardly seems like a weapon, but then to each their own. You certainly know a lot about yours. That's good. A true warrior should know their weapon as intimately as they know their own body, as it is just an extension of your being when wielded right," she explained herself, her hand falling almost instinctively to the set of kama that were resting beside her, the blades collapsed into the shaft of the weapon at the moment making them appear almost as two batons rather than deadly weapons.

“Understand that I agree fully with you. However, it is a tool for killing.” Tekun paused. “I would rather use a sword or an axe and rely fully upon my own ability than pull one of those on anyone. I used to use a bow far more often, and believe me the bow still has some advantages over the gun, but overall the gun is proving far more efficient. “ He said that with a frown upon his face.
“The world is changing. It isn’t how it used to be. I’m going to use these “weapons” to keep myself and others alive when the need comes. The Void doesn’t play fair nor do most of those who really mean ill, why should I?”
Akali nodded. Killing was something she was quite good at. Her entire body was a weapon for killing, let alone the two kama that lay beside her. She knew full well how to use a weapon to kill, to injure, to cripple or to scare. That was part of the reason a gun remained alien to her. It was too limited, it felt all or nothing in design. You either shot them dead or you missed. In the case of a ranged weapon she simply used throwing weapons, and focused her energy on a mark. That focus was often enough to scare someone away.
"The world may be changing, may be advancing, but the way of the blade has not become outdated yet. As you said yourself, several champions use firearms, and yet I still face them and win on many occasions. The biggest difference in that combat is the summoner, but once I close the gap between myself and the gun, it is of little use to my adversary. Nor can they shoot what they cannot see," she said flippantly, turning her attention once more to the stew. She realized it sounded like she was boasting, and there was a moment of bashfulness to accompany it. She'd merely been stating facts.

“I’ve seen.” Tekun had been taking bites here and there and was now over half done but saw what she’d been eyeing. He took the ladle and drew himself more. He didn’t see how far along done she was but none the less turned the ladle towards her for ease of refill.
“The shadows are your friend, but a big guy like me isn’t stealthy enough or flexible enough for that. I have to rely on other things, like durability. Of course I have a trick or two up my metaphorical sleeve too.” He gave a light laugh as he eased up in her company a bit more. He reached for his gun and properly holstered it. “I take it my cooking is satisfactory?”
(Different Akali, continuing old one's RP as requested)
She had only just now realized she hadn't eaten much of the stew before her. Perhaps she had been too mentally distracted to pay much attention to her physical needs. She spooned a spoonful into her mouth, finishing it down, thankful it had not quickly grown cold. She nodded.
"I am rather surprised you have taken such talent to culinary works for a traveler as such. You would think the priority of food in such cases would be simple, efficient, and quick. But you take your time."
Her eyes wandered to the entrance of the cave, her glistening irises flickering for any trace of the wolves. The faint glow only briefly revealed itself, to soon disappear, only to be spotted again a moment later. Her body remained relaxed, passing it off as if it were mere casual. She turned her attention back towards Tekun.
"You had better start packing up, or the wolves will bring more, if they haven't already. They're out there, waiting." Her voice was calm and matter-of-factly. "If you need assistance, I will have no problem providing it. You trusted me enough to let your guard down, then fed me, leaving me obligated to return the favor in any equal way you wish."

“…Somethings need a little more time than others. You learn to appreciate the small things in life when you have time and I would argue I have time right now.” Tekun retorted before he noticed the glint in her eye and her sights trailing out towards the darkness beyond the sanctuary of his fire. Her words bore warning.
“Seems they really want my stew.” Tekun joked, making light of the situation before he turned his face towards the blackness and the shifting figures within them. A howl sounded and echoed out through the tundra. It couldn’t have been more than 300 feet away.
“Assistance is appreciated and I’ll take your offer.” He stood up and drew his bastard sword from its sheath, the two handed blade was gripped firmly in one hand now. “...You know. I just realized how difficult it might be to fight off a pack in the dark. If not more than a pack. It’s not going to hurt your performance if I have to take care of the situation with the light right?”
Her green irises glistened faintly against the fire, growing dark and cold. While she was more accustomed to handling specific targets rather than wild animals, it was nothing she couldn't overcome. In one quiet, fluid motion, she unsheathed her two kama blades, gripping them in preparation.
"I know how to work in both light and darkness. The shadows are simply preferred because you can advance and strike unseen. Do as you wish." Her eyes closed, heaving out a sigh and standing up. "I would really much rather not resort to killing them. But I don't think we have much of a choice."
The Kinkou girl slipped out into the frigid night, hovering nearby the entrance of the cave, awaiting Tekun to follow as he felt to. She scanned their surroundings. She figured it may have been light enough for even the untrained eye to fight, from the moonlight reflecting off the soft snow covered ground. But it was up to him.
Glowing eyes were seen blinking in and out of view from the distance, a pack of them. She stood there, seemingly in an unprepared stance.
"When they attack, I'll react. You do as you wish. But I'm not going to let them kill you, either. I just find it unnecessary were I to initiate attack. It's not how I work in situations as this."

“Good to know.” He had heard rumor that upon the fields she was a nightmare but as soon as her cover was blown her effectiveness was almost halved. Then again, rumor was only rumor and the Fields did things to champions upon them, whether they were weakened or were stronger was something Tekun wasn’t quite sure of.
“Remember this is the north. Not Ionia. It’s kill or be killed up here. If I held back for anything up here I doubt I would have made It even into my twenties let alone survived anything else I’ve encountered.” He trudged back toward the fire and removed a torch from his person, unlit but ready to be ignited. Quickly, he burned the end and lit it a flame so he could have one more light-source, something portable.
“Though I suppose I don’t need to tell you that, you’re here on business. You know how it is.” He walked into the darkness, snow and torch in hand. In the torch light, he could see the glint off the eyes on the animals and the vague shapes that lurked and moved about at the edges of his sight, in the darkness beyond the light.
