Camp
Meanwhile at the artificer corner of the camp, Nicholas plotted all the points in the city for optimal viewing and presented his pet golem the map. Zero memorized the layout and transformed into her wheel configuration. She took two belts of five mobile wards apiece and deployed at high speed.
City
Zero left the camp, heading directly into the city, taking safe routes and avoiding the undead. The automaton felt nothing at the sights and sounds she was witness to, the horrors of the Invasion slowly creeping throughout the city. She had a mission, a part to play to save the entirety of Demacia, and it was not in her prerogative to give aid to stragglers even when asked... begged to.
She brakes in the center of an abandoned mercantile district, the optimal launch point of the first batch of wards. She reforms into humanoid form, and her arm reconfigured into the telekinetic device that would launch the wards throughout the mercantile districts. One by one, the wards were suspended briefly in a magical field, then fired in an arc. The Observers deployed mid air and slowed their descent, lodging themselves in the key observation points, whether clinging to walls or hiding in nooks.
Camp
The junior artificers in charge of monitoring each set of wards announces their devices coming to 'life', and the images within the city were now finally visible to the camp.
And the reactions were very audible.
Gasps of horror and disbelief permeated among the many demacian summoners present, as horrified onlookers covered their mouths at the sights and sounds of the devastation. Many broke from their stoic mood when they saw familiar places, now stained with blood of friends. A few began to cry, exclaiming their recognition of their own neighborhoods now soaked bloody and ashened. The reality of this Invasion, this... conflict... struck deep wounds indeed for all who called the city home.
But the worst part, were the wounded and the lost. One junior recognized her mother's body on the ground, and quickly fainted. the few Summoners from other city states had to take over for this duty, as the native summoners had to be reminded of their duty as the Institute's Representatives of demacia.
Nicholas too, was not immune, seeing his family's business- an in-city stable, devoid of life. His breathing quickened and his worry grew; he may have been no noble nor involved in the family's affairs, but he knew many in their employ by name and address.
He faced the mind-link orb, receiving a message from Zero.
City
"Summoner. the first set of wards have been deployed. Unit Zero returning to camp." The golem spoke directly by mind link to her summoner.
"..." Nicholas didn't immediately reply.
"Unit awaiting clearance." She said again, with the slightest tone of insistence, to focus the summoner to his job.
"C-cl-clear...Zero. Please return as soon as you are able." Zero began backtracking, when she saw a pair of Demacian youths, both armed and in the uniform of the Guard, one gravely wounded, retreating into the Square. They came upon the golem.
"Ancestors... what... who is that? an enemy?" The healthier one asked. Zero simply ignored them and continued walking on, when a skeletal warrior emerged from the fog.
"It... it's no use Adriana... they're right behind us!" The wounded one said, coughing up blood and falling to the ground.
"I am... a demacian soldier... I will not die... with a sword in my back... I am sorry, Jules. It was an honor to serve with you." Adriana drew her short sword one last time to face to creature. The skeletal warrior raised its rusted weapon in a mocking salute, and cackled madly as it closed in for the kill.
It wouldn't get the chance to, really.
A lamp post was launched at it at a terrific velocity, smashing it against the wall. The spectral flame that animated the unholy creature flickered out, and Adriana looked at the direction it came from, and she saw the golem with its energy arm collapsing into an arm.
"Zero returning. to camp." The golem repeated.
"Th... thank you..." Adriana muttered, looking at the strange automaton turning into a wheel and going away.
