Human
Name: Rece (Reh-SHEH)
Alias: -
Class: -
Race: Dragon
Age: 1208
Occupation: -
Residence: Sablestone Mountains, Northern Range
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Abilities:
Rece possesses the racial abilities of all dragons, capable of seeing well in both normal and low-light situations, breathing fire hot enough to melt through common metals, as well as create plumes of smoke, as well as everything in between.
Rece is capable of appearing in a human body at will, though only does so once per year, to be certain she is still able to do so. She has never found a particular use for this technique, but is fond of retaining knowledge. Upon the advent of losing her child, she has decided that using her human form will allow her to track the kidnapper without being revealed.
She is as naturally resistant to magic as her heritage would make her, while also possessing an understanding of rune magic. Her knowledge is minimal at best, given her relatively young age, and a mild lack of interest.
Rece's rune, Isa, grants her power over frost and ice. Her skill at the manipulation of Isa magic is minor, at best, allowing her access to two spells.
Cone of Cold: Rece's attenuation to the Isa rune grants her a breath weapon similar to her natural flames, save for its frigid nature. As it is given to her by the Isa rune, and she is not well versed in its use, it manifests simply as a wide cone of frigid air that inflicts moderate damage and slows the movements of any struck. Targets that are less insulated risk frostbite with exposure. It may travel a distance equivalent to her normal cone of flame, twenty feet from her mouth.
Cocytus: Channeling the Isa rune, Rece fires a bolt of cold at a target. On impact, the very air around the target freezes solid, completely immobilizing them within. Due to its magical nature, the restrictive ice melts one minute after forming. Other than the risk of frostbite, this spell deals no damage. Cocytus travels up to eighty feet before its magic cannot sustain the bolt and upon striking a target, freezes a spherical area with a radius of six feet immediately. Rece only has the power to cast this spell once in the span of a half hour.
Relationships:
Thanos ("Mr. Piggles") - The only surviving hatchling of Rece's most recently laid clutch. Stolen from her by a Yordle.
Lulu the Fae Sorceress - The Yordle responsible for stealing away the only egg to hatch from Rece's latest clutch. Currently the subject of Rece's ire, she seeks to kill the lesser being and reclaim her son, that her lineage might live on untainted by the newborns to Runeterra
Dragons - Rece is typically ambivalent to the existence of other dragons, allowing them passage through her territory if they wish it, but not allowing them to hunt upon her land. The only exception to her lack of interest is her children, willing to protect them regardless of the cost to herself until they have reached maturity.
Humans - Rece views humans as irritants, and a drain on the land. Despite this, she has never gone out of her way to attack human settlements, merely defending her portion of the Sablestone from any who might seek to defile it. She does not think it impossible for a human to prove themselves, but harshly prejudges any who come across her. While she is quick to condemn singular humans for their actions, she grudgingly recognizes that humans as a whole are still children of Runeterra. She does not agree with their society's past choices, but understands that they have the capacity for change.
Yordles - Rece's thoughts on the diminutive race are far more negative than that of humans in recent memory, fueled by the Fae Sorceress's actions. Due to their tiny stature and reliance on community, Rece has grown to think of the entire race as backward, as dragons tend to be completely self-reliant. She has known of Yordles for much of her life, but questions if they truly belong upon her beloved Runeterra. The emergence of their fabled "Mothership" has left her with the thought that perhaps they are alien to Valoran, or possibly even Runeterra itself.
Half-dragons - Rece, like most fullblooded dragons, reviles the thought of her kind mixing carnally with a lesser creature. She has never met a halfling in her many years of life, but considers them a filth worse than humans themselves, a testament to the human's ability to corrupt anything they can touch. Despite having never met one, she is willing to put any half-dragon she crosses path with out of their "misery", knowing full well that neither humans nor dragons would care for their existence.
Shadow Isles and the Void - As both of them represent a very significant threat to the safety of Runeterra, Rece would step forward to stop either power if presented with an opportunity. Though she is less likely to admit it, Rece would step forward in defense of humans if they were to be threatened with death by either of these sources.
Description:
Dragon
Rece is a white-scaled dragon that stands twenty three feet when fully erect. From snout to tail, Rece measures just shy of thirty seven feet long. Rece's wingspan is an impressive sixty feet while in flight, necessary to keep her large form aloft. She weighs 9200 pounds, primarily in bone and muscle.
Her crown bears many small, overlapping horns, and she has spines which run down the center of her back to the tip of her tail, which is tipped with multiple bony spikes. It serves as a club or mace in desperate situations. The crest upon he chest is adorned with more overlapping spines, turning into a slightly softer underbelly of scales just behind her forelimbs. The scales of her main body are a greyish white, while her underbelly is a more stark, eggshell color. Her claws, both on her wing joints as well as on each of her toes, are a deep brown, appearing black in all but the brightest of light. Rece's eyes are a bright blue, primarily due to her largely mineral-based diet. Due to her distance from human society as well as her solitary nature, Rece does not bear many scars to mar her scales.
Human
Rece's human form is that of a tall, silver haired woman with dangerous looking, ice blue eyes. She is long of limb and possesses a tight assortment of muscles throughout her entire body, befitting her natural draconic strength. Though she is particularly tall for a woman, standing at 6 feet exactly, she is surprisingly thin, weighing only 148 pounds. As she has lived much of her life without an understanding of the intricacies of human society, Rece wears nothing but a single black robe upon her body when appearing as a human, enough to keep her modesty intact, as well as the ruse of her human form. Her apparent age in this form is difficult to discern, as her naturally silver hair and dour expression would lead one to believe she is old, while her thin, athletic physique speaks to a more youthful individual. The few humans who have seen her in this form have come to the conclusion that she is middle-aged, perhaps 32 years old.
Biography:
Rece's younger years were spent as any dragon's youth would be, under the careful guidance of her mother. Peace was expected, and for many years it was what reigned over the land and her life. Together with her mother, they would swoop and prey upon the world below their wings. Wildlife would flee from their presence, the twin terrors of the lands now known as the Fyrone Flats. So many years in the past, before the devastation of the Rune Wars, the Flats were less sparse, grassy flat lands instead of wind-blasted hardpat, rife with grazing pack animals instead of loosely dotted with underfed scavengers.
But peace and the humans of centuries past did not keep close company of one another. As Rece's years wore on, conflict reached across the world slowly, devastating magic coming to light and leaving terrible scars upon the world. Shortly after Rece's 572nd year, human conflict finally reached the Flats, leaving the ecosystem crippled but alive. Rece left her mother then, the diminished wildlife unable to sustain them both. She took wing eastward, passing the dust of the desert and the lush greenery of the jungle, finally settling into the impressive mountain ranges that separated the southeastern portion of Valoran from the rest of the world.
She remained there for years without incident, far removed from the eyes of the human world, feasting on the mineral rich mountains she now called home, almost completely foregoing the taste of meat in the chilly peaks. The Rune Wars shuddered through the land, changing everything she knew of the world irrevocably, some 700 odd years after her birth. She could feel the earth recoiling from the terror the humans inflicted. Her perception colored, she became even more recluse, shutting herself in the snowy mountaintops of her home. One after another they came and went, but Rece did not stir to see them ended, expecting the humans to have eradicated themselves in due time.
As her hoard grew, composed largely of interesting mineral deposits, she too grew complacent. Shortly after having mated, Rece's den was visited by a guest. Short in stature and donning a large red hat, the creature before her demanded an egg from her clutch. The noble dragon refused the puny soft-skin, only to find her body reduced to common forest fauna by the works of a pixie companion. The yordle skipped over to hernest without another thought and claimed the largest egg of Rece's nest. Try though she did to pursue the thief, her magicked form could not lay proper chase. Rather than put herself at the mercy of nature outside her den, she waited.
A week had passed, before Rece's ensorcelled body returned to normal. It was a humiliating week, one in which Rece's intelligent mind had worked itself into a fury, playing and replaying the event, the loss of her child, to torture. Adding insult to injury, the remaining three eggs in her clutch did not bear children, the lives within them unmoving.
Rece now ventures forth for the first time in many years to seek out her child, unsure if it had even hatched. She seeks to right the grievous insult she has been dealt and reunite with her unknown child, Thanos.
