Name: Ethan Ramseyt
Alias: -
Class: Summoner
Race: Human, Demacian
Age: 29
Occupation: Steward-Summoner; Gold-Rank
Residence: Institute of War
Alignment: Neutral Good
Abilities:
As a competent summoner, Ethan is capable of performing all necessary functions required of his post, ranging from simple magical aids to the supporting spells utilized upon the fields to the act itself of summoning a champion or controlling a minion. Of particular note, his preferred summoner spell is Barrier, capable of casting it upon another even when not influenced by a Nexus
Beyond the abilities he possess as a summoner, Ethan also commands a weak arsenal of healing and rejuvenation skills studied during his time in the Arcanum Majoris.
Freshen
Ethan passively allows those in contact with him, as well as himself, to feel their stamina restored, shaking weakness from tired limbs and sharpening the mind. The more tired someone is, the weaker the impact of this effect. A sharpening of reaction and skill are the most noticeable effect of this ability.
Stalwart
With a quick burst of energy, Ethan and all those around him feel their body strengthen, increasing the effect of the body’s own restorative efforts as well as any healing introduced, either magical or physical. This effect lasts for several moments and can be extended if Ethan decides to channel before casting.
Mend
Ethan focuses upon a target’s wounds intently, slowly closing them as his own body tires from the exertion and expenditure of magical energies. For every moment Ethan channels, the effect is magnified, though the exhaustion he feels afterwards is equally strengthened. So long as Ethan can still consciously draw breath, he may channel this ability. While it is uncommon to see him moving while he uses this technique, he is capable of doing so, albeit slowly.
If this technique is used too freely, Ethan may be rendered unconscious to spare his own body any harm.
Relationships:
Ethan keeps in contact a few individuals outside of his work at the League, chiefly his mother and father. Though their relationship is terse, strained from his parting from the City-State of his birth, he strives to keep in touch if nothing else.
It is notable that his bond with his father is stronger than that of his mother, since the two seem to share an understanding that while their ideals do not necessarily overlap, they are both pursuing that which they believe in and there is no particular conflict between them. The Ramseyt mother cares about her son as much as any mother should, though her strong belief in the Demacian way of life has driven a rift between them. While the two of them both strive for reconciliation, it has become apparent that it will not occur.
Beyond his parents, Ethan keeps few friends in the Institute, preferring to focus upon his duties as a Summoner instead. Though he does not let many in, he does look up to his superiors, most notably the High Council and especially the missing Reginald Ashram. Since his induction into the Stewards, Ethan has grown professionally acquainted with the majority of them, as they work in concert to ensure the continued function of the League.
Description:
Ethan is a fairly tall individual with short-kept, spiky blonde hair and striking yet cold blue eyes. His shoulders are thin for his gender and while at rest he tends to slouch considerably, though when he is performing his duty as a summoner he conducts himself much more professionally. He is most frequently found wearing the purple summoning robes that any typical summoner would, trimmed in spikes of gold at the sleeves, hem and hood to indicate his ranking within the organization.
As a man who very adamantly strives to be just and impart peace, Ethan is a very passionate defender of the Institute and its work. He is a skilled orator and mediator, capable of operating in a manner that he personally deems is reasonably unbiased.
Typically, Ethan is a very stoic individual, eschewing the expression of his feelings in lieu of maintaining an air of impenetrability and professionalism befitting his job. Of the few things capable of opening his shell, injustice seems to be the most potent, though his response is very typically negative to such things.
When Ethan is not located within the confines of the league and on leave, he wears simple clothing, typically a black vest and pants with a simple pair of black gloves. His hair is perhaps the only part of himself he bothers to sculpt the appearance of, though only mildly and only when off-duty
Biography:
Inequity.
It has always been rife in the world, even in the places one would expect it not to be. While Demacia appears to the world to be a shining pillar of righteousness and prosperity, human society is never quite so cut and dry. It was a lesson that hid itself upon the underbelly of Demacian society, malcontent peasants spitefully living their lives in bitter servitude to the ruling class. Truthfully, they were not mistreated, it was simply an imbalance of power that seemed to incense the masses below.
Ethan lived every day of his youth on the cusp of this silent struggle, his family lucky enough not to be swept up in the undertow of destitute servitude. Throughout those years, Ethan had been raised to help his fellow man and to follow his own path in life. To denounce the unjust and celebrate the strong. His parents words had spurred him in his late teens to do just that, using what skills he could to bring those less fortunate an end to their dissatisfaction. Were they hurt, he would aid them, poor, he would give them what he could.
It was during this time that he learned the harsh reality of Demacian justice, saw these people sometimes risk years of their life to be able to feed their families. A loaf of bread here, a handful of fruit there, all in the name of survival. These were the people Ethan propelled himself to help, living a life as meager as he could to give instead of receive.
He grew close to the people he aided, saw their pride and how crumbled and broken it was. How weak their faith in the state was. It had been something he could believe in for so long, he hadn’t thought to question it. Seeing their plight however, was not his breaking point. At nineteen years of age, Ethan witnessed the fist of Demacian justice crash down on someone he cared about. It was a simple charge, as simple as a charge can be in the justice that Demacia saw.
It was as she was taken away for her theft of nothing more than food to survive for another day that his belief in the Demacian way was irrevocably destroyed. The open, happy young man that once was closed himself off from the world, seeing the blind acceptance of a system that harmed those who could not stand by the circumstance of their life as a point of contention. He denounced his birth, met with considerable resistance by his family and those he kept close.
With his eyes open to the world, he set out to join that which he could truly believe in, to be a summoner in the Institute of War, to instill a sense of true peace upon the tumult of the world. Knowing that he was but one man in a cog of a much bigger machine, he strove to be as beneficial as possible. Even now, ten years hence, he toils under this goal, laying heavy across his back but keeping him motivated.
No longer is he driven by the plight of a single beautiful woman as he had been in his impulsive youth, but that of the world, aware now of the breadth of injustice that seemed to sweep across it.
“There are no misdemeanors, but there is always intent. There is always a reason.” – Ethan Ramseyt’s closing words at his graduation from training
