The front page of the paper displays a harrowing scene: a broken landscape, the very earth torn asunder. Beneath the surface, an alien world lies exposed, crystals as tall as castle towers, unfathomable pools of glowing liquid. The article reads:

I first came to Kalamanda eagerly anticipating good news. The talented Summoners of the League of Legends have been hard at work attempting to stabilize the land after the recent clash between Demacian and Noxian forces over the valuable resources therein. I came expecting the Crystal Scar to be healed; what I found was a gaping wound.
The chasm is half a mile wide and stretches from one end of the territory to the other. Its depth cannot yet be measured, but peering over the edge, this reporter could make out unearthly formations--and at night, the twittering and skittering of unnamed beasts echoes through the valley.
