The Isles was a place less frequented by the Ascendant, for all it contained were ghouls and other specters that were perhaps a step above mortals in terms of might, but still nothing but grounded plebeians as far as his outstanding sense of self-worth was concerned. By the same token the place had little to offer him at any rate, the land of undeath providing next to nil in terms of power to be gained.
Except that he was not seeking power, not on this occasion. Highly risqué for a being of his caliber, but not quite on the bounds of being impossible. With his ascension came freedom from such limits and weaknesses that he was once bound to under the prison that was flesh and bone, such as emotions and body needs. But memories were retained, and the mental ties that they brought with them were very much real, not that the Magus was a creature of setting off any cues, verbal or otherwise, to allude to it.
Tabia.
The mere notion of her name was the harbinger of so much pain, a feeling he ought to have shed centuries before, but he could still feel the pines of dissonance on his electrical form, spindly and damned.
“Deathsinger,” his voice is booming and projected, and he takes no time for introduction.

Ah, The Magus Ascendant. What brings you to a place such as this, I wonder.....
The Deathsinger's raspy voice wafted over the breeze as he revealed himself behind the Magus, floating on the same level as he was.
"You have a favor to ask of me? Very well. Know that I do not offer my services to anyone, regardless of their power, without just compensation." Karthus said, his voice now clearly speaking from where he was behind the Magus. "But I wonder what you need...If you wanted to kill someone, they would already be dead."
Perhaps if the Ascendant was capable of humor, he would have shone a baleful sneer on his features – but the lich receives nothing of the sort. Instead he receives an apathetic look from the Magus’s pupiless ‘eyes’, far closer to convenient slits in his stone prison, arcane lightning arcing off him in sparks that litter the gloomy ground below his floating figure.
“Do not mock me with your remarks, Deathsinger. I am already very much aware.” His tone is cutting and straightforward, as he had no intention of dragging their conversation out any longer than he had to. Karthus may have been a champion, but that failed to elicit so much as a shard of respect from the Ascendant.
“You are a lich. Capable of retrieving souls and rising them.” In a clawed hand lies a skull of someone long since deceased, and he extends out the arm without missing a beat.

Karthus eyed the skull warily, then glanced up at the Magus, and finally settling his eyes upon the skull as he took it from the Magus' claw of electrical magic. "...She, you say? Has our dear Magus some long lost love...?" He turned the skull over in his hands, opening and shutting the jaw a few times as he thought.
"She's been dead only a few thousand years less than I have. This...Will be no easy task, retrieving her soul from Death's hall." Karthus replied, handing the skull back to the Magus. "I cannot revive her at my current strength, if you do indeed wish for a true resurrection and not simply a reanimated skeleton. Or I could make a demilich out of her skull.....But those are more pets than true beings." Karthus wanted to gauge Xerath's reaction...Perhaps this deal could indeed turn to his favor.
More arcs of awry bolts of lightning come off of his chained visage in response, not at all amused by the lich’s apparent inability. “I would keep a watch on your tongue, Deathsinger. I am not in a mood to be jested and jeered at.” Of course, one could easily trust the Ascendant to make any comment that wasn’t mindless assertion and laced with submission to be some odd remark against him, and that could’ve been blamed by his outstanding sense of narcissism and to an extent, pettiness as well.
“Who she is to me fails to concern you, as it is incomprehensible to anyone but her and I. And she will be revived fully.”
It was a statement instead of a question, but with the Magus’s buzzing and vibrating voice, it was difficult to discern tone in the first place unless it was on a side of extremity.

Karthus paused for a moment, deep in thought. "......There is one way I might be able to revive your lady-friend. The Eye of Shadows. It is an artifact from the first Rune War, one which I forged myself. It's power is the only way I can see her being revived fully." Karthus explained, then raised a bony finger. "However, I will need two things of you in return. Firstly, I will need your time. The Eye was stolen from me some time ago, and it will take a week or two to retrieve. Secondly.... I require a measure of your essence as a catalyst. The Eye feeds on positive energy to create negative energy; without a charge of substantial power to get it started, it will do us no good."
