11 March, 21 CLE
Vincent was hurrying towards General Swain's office, he was looking for an assignment that was out-of-country. The mercenary group who had killed his parents where onto him. He had killed their leader a few weeks earlier. The word in the sewers where that he had a price on his head. He arrived at Swain's office, he made sure that there wasn't anyone around when he knocked the door.
He knocked three times and stood attention while he waited for him.

24 FEBRUARY, 21 CLE—Demacian miners of the collapsed #1 Loadstone Mining Consortium have been rescued. Evidence of Noxian sabotage is discovered during the excavation. As a result, Kalamanda's exclusive mining contract is awarded to Demacia.

High Command's most recently appointed general stood in the center of his office, hunched over a weathered table--which lay covered, every inch, with glossy maps and charts. His eyes, two burning embers in the dark, cast an eerie glow upon the pages as they studied. Kalamanda. The Pass between the mountains. Zaun. Beneath these lay a letter tucked away, signed in flourishing scrawl with the name Heywan Relivash.
A knock came at the door.
The Master Tactician's attention snapped up from his study. He straightened the pile of papers so that the map of Kalamanda lay atop, glossy by candlelight. He would depart the following morn to address the Loadstone Mine catastrophe. Cracked lips pursed briefly behind his shroud, then parted to utter his imperious command.
"Enter," said the general as he turned to face the door to his office, withered hands folded over his cane, his ever-present fiendish familiar preening herself upon his shoulder.

Vincent ran his fingers through his hair just before he entered Swains office. When he entered he saw Swain looking at him with his hands on his cane and Beatrice on his shoulder. His pulse started to rise, he was always nervous when he was in front of one of the High Commanders, and being in front of Swain was even worse. His eyes quickly scanned the room to see if there was anyone else in there, they were alone.
"General." He said and then stood attention, waiting for the General to speak.

"Soldier," the general growled. He took a crooked step forward, his glowing gaze affixed firmly upon the taller man's face. If he was surprised by this unannounced visit, his signature mask of poise betrayed no hint of this. Calculating, shrewd, he took note of his visitor's nervousness, his darting gaze, and "What news."
For an enlist man to come directly to The Master Tactician in his office, news must be dire indeed. The general waited, hunched over his cane, for the report.

He swallowed twice before talking. "I do not come with news, sir. I come with a request. I wish to be sent on an out-of-country assignment." He tried to look not too desperate, he knew his days were counted if he stayed in Noxus too long. "I have graduated in both Intelligence and Recon, Sir. I am fully capable of infiltrating almost any group. I also have a price on my head, the mercenaries who killed my parents have now put their eyes on me, after I killed their leader. That is why I wish to be put on an out-of-country assignment." He looked Swain in the eyes, his pulse kept rising.

One brow rose over the other as the general listened. Despite the nervous soldier's failure to announce his person and station, Swain now put a name to his face. "Fortier," he growled, luminous eyes flashing in study of the prospective double-agent's face. "You mean to ask me to save your life."
Slowly, subtly, he shook his head, silent for a few moments as he allowed the intensity of the exchange to linger in the air. When the Master Tactician spoke again, it was in the tone of one reprimanding a child, disdainful, sharp. "One does well to consider the consequences of his decisions prior to acting upon them." He turned as he talked facing the desk with an uneven shuffle. With his cane-free hand, he drew out a sealed letter from the massive pile of paperwork.
"You are a very lucky man," came the general's imperious rasp. He turned to face his soldier again, blood-red eyes locking onto the man's pale face. "I may just have a use for you."

When the General turned around facing away from Vincent he took a deep breath, trying to lower his pulse a little bit. He usually wasn't so nervous, he always kept his cool, but somehow the General scared him like nothing else could, but at the same time he was inspiring.
When the General turned around and said. "I may just have a use for you." Vincent took a deep breath. He saw a letter in the Generals hand. "Where do you wish to send me, General?"

"Demacia," Swain said frankly. "You will make no mention of this mission. You will leave tonight. I will file records of your.. untimely demise. You will disappear. You will maintain correspondence with no one but me until I order otherwise. All other arrangements have been made." He extended the sealed letter, in which orders were writ.
"You will make immediately for Bilgewater, board a ship known as The Breaking Dawn for Piltover. There you will meet a contact of mine on Tuesday at midnight in the Prowess alleyway behind the Academy of Science and Progress. She will have papers for you." The High Commander pursed his lips behind his shroud, eyeing the soldier up and down. He had intended to give this assignment to another, but this... would work just as well.
"A new persona. A new life: that of a Demacian soldier."
Blazing eyes narrowed in the half-light of his office. "You will tell no one of this order. Is that understood?"

"Yes, General!" He took the envelope from the generals hands. "This will stay between us." He bowed and turned around, if not stopped he would leave the room and head towards Bilgewater.
