Name:Lucas Brightshield
Alias:Mirrorshield
Class:Light infantry
Race:Human
Age:29
Occupation:Pathfinder Soldier
Residence:Demacia
Alignment:Neutral Good
Abilities:
Passive: Ambidextrous planner.
Lucas is equally proficient with his arms in left and right hand, and will shift to the hand which puts him in the best advantage if given the chance. He will be vulnerable during this period though.
Passive: Improviser.
Lucas' time with the Pathfinders taught him how to see objects around him as more than just tools or containers. For example, he'll try to use carts as makeshift rams.
Crippling flank:
Lucas takes advantage of a distracted or outmanuevered enemy by striking at a important point on an enemy, like weapon-hands or legs.
Adrenaline Rush
Lucas gets a movement speed buff depending on his current health, becoming larger with more health moving towards an enemy, or with less health moving away from one.
“WIND FLAMES!”
Overplaying it:
Lucas feints an opening, especially well when he was recently struck. Common feints include standing more on one foot, half-letting go of his sword, and other things.
Weapon Affinity: Gladius and Shield
The good old Sword and Shield. These have served Lucas through most of his military carreer, and he maintains them carefully. Even though he is a pathfinder, he has taken his training and experience and surprised more than one opponent with his personal style.
Weapon Affinity: Shortbow
The standard main weapon of a Pathfinder, although it is more a side weapon for Lucas. He is trained to shoot it, but he isn't much better with it than any other pathfinder you would find. Far from able to hit his target every time, Lucas mainly practises drawing arrows in quick succession.
Relationships:
Prince Jarvan IV: “I Was in his escort once. He probably wouldn’t recognise me. I only was in there cause I was from the region they were going”
Half-Dragon Shyvana: Apparantly my time in the Prince's escort earned me her gratitude. She seems to have trouble with fitting in among humans. Perhaps someone should help her. Let's see if anyone else will...
Description:
Combat Gear: Steel Short Sword and Oaken small shield., Cape-Terrain colour in battle, blue-yellow on patrol-Standard Leather armor
Personality: Lucas is really shy, although he manages to stay professional when he’s on duty, although he can still “shut off” when there’s really important people around him. In casual life, he’ll shy away from aproaching people, save for salesmen he knows.
Biography:
Lucas was a humble farmboy, coming from a farmstead with a sizeable apple orchard. Despite his last name being a little suggestive, he was a ordinary boy: dilligent, humble, and cooperative. Growing up, his thoughts turned to his peculiar name. Few men had names like that, and they were respected. The rediculous similarity to the royal family puzzled him. It had been pointed out before, one time even, comparisons had been made. When he asked his family, he didn't get any answers. Because he didn't want more comparisons to be drawn, he figured it was best to not draw attention to it. He silently sought for a clue, but found none. And then he became 18, and it was time for his mandatory service.
Lucas' training was standard, but he figured if he didn't find a name, he'd have to make one himself. So he trained more than just the scheduled exercices. His affinity with light melee arms and his intent to look over the country for any clue got him seeded with the pathfinders, and he didn't slack his training. The extra training he took he would devote to learning how to fight right handed, for he noticed his sparring partner's trouble fighting someone left handed and decided that he should serve left handed people to the same liability.
One day, while on patrol, a dragon flew over a forest, and Lucas saw it together with his patrolmates. Since Lucas was from the area, and also the bit faster, they decided that Lucas would go report to the command. He darted off, towards the command. When he eventually dashed in, panting, and reported what he saw, the commanders looked shocked. Within half an hour, the military was ready to mobilize, and suddenly, Prince Jarvan IV dashed in, and told the commanders to rally an escort, to set out before noon. Lucas shrunk at the sight of the Prince, but was soothed by the thought he was done, but when the escort was being formed, he was picked out of the blue to come with. A part of the reason was cause he knew where the dragon was sighted. When They met the Half-Dragon, Lucas cowered, together with the rest of the men, And he regretted it ever since. He was so upset with himself being scared while protecting the prince, that he isolated himself, even from his squad for a while.
Lucas’ morale got a huge shock. Being scared stiff isn’t exactly the most honorable. “But… What is” Is a question that suddenly popped up. Lucas knew he would never forgive himself until he could answer it. But you can’t define honor in one word. So he chose to have three define it. The first one being obvious" Courage. The strength to not panic and think clear." However, the other two would prove more difficult. There were so many virtues to see it in. What Lucas needed, was something that could help him both in and out of combat.
The next one came in a peculiar way. Lucas described it as: “One of those days, where everything goes wrong”. He tripped over a broken-off wheel, dropped his weapon twice, on the same evening that his wooden buckler broke. When he replaced his buckler with a oaken small shield, He cursed that day, stating: “I have no idea how I persevered through all that” And that moment, he got the idea. “Perseverance. The ability to stand your ground, in combat as well as life, when misfortune or enemies throw everything at you.”
Lucas felt surprisingly better the next day, having figured that out. He stepped among his squad, as usual, who noticed his mood change. When asked, he had simply stated: “I almost know”. And suddenly, he realised he forgot something, something terrible to forget “Loyalty. The ability to trust and be trustworthy, to cover when others are down, but also to trust your kinsmen to cover you when you are down.”
When his squadmates asked what he almost knew, he said: “Not almost, not anymore.” And yelled it out from the bottom of his lungs. "Perseverance! Courage! LOYALTY!
It is still one of his most open moments to date. But his commander heard it, stepped to Lucas, who instantly thought he was in trouble. But his commander simply told him to do that again. When Lucas repeated himself, with the honest force of a warrior who stands for what he, and not his superiors stands for, shouting so loud that it left a clear impression on his squadmates. His commander was impressed too, to say the least, and said “Alright. From now on, that’s our battlecry. And Lucas. Yell that in the face of our enemy. If anything, it’ll shock them as much as it’ll rally your allies…
Goal: Find a clue about the origins of his family, and live up to that name and/or his expectations of the name.
