Hello, good people of Maelstrom. Been a while since I churned out a PSA (and I know how you love them) so let's address some business.
As you may have noticed, Maelstrom is growing steadily and getting a lot of attention as we spread our influence through various social platforms. Yay us! For all you do to make MS a fantastic, enjoyable place where people want to RP, thank you! It's your devotion to your roleplay and our community that keeps us growing and thriving, and that's awesome.
This means, however, that as our forum gets more attention and attracts new members, we need to make room for other writers, other portrayals, other perspectives, other interpretations. Everyone has something great to bring to the table. If you currently RP two champions and feel more devoted to one than the other, this PSA is for you. MS values quality over quantity. We would rather see your full energy devoted to one main champ than half of it put into two--especially as new RPers join us and may be interested in portraying characters to which you currently lay claim. If you have the time to maintain both your champs, that's awesome. Kudos to you. If you find yourself making a post a week or fewer, this is a courteous request that you relinquish your lesser role in order that new members can have a chance to take up that role and give it the effort it deserves. We want all our champions in the spotlight!
The second half of this PSA relates to OCs. Victus, myself and the OC council do our very best to make sure each and every one of your creations fit in seamlessly with our canon. All of your original characters should be created with purpose--and with the intention of integrating fully with the story and maintaining an active role therein. Due to the overwhelming volume of OC applications v. amount of actively played OCs, the council has decided to place a limit on the number of original characters and lore figures held by each member.
That limit is five.
If you already portray more than five non-champion characters, that's fine. You may continue to do so, but may add no more to your repertoire. We trust the rest of you to be honest and respectful of this rule--and all the quality control measures in place on MS. Again, the idea is quality over quantity. We would much rather see a few fantastically developed and expertly integrated OCs from you than a dozen filler characters.
Thanks again to everyone who helps keep MS awesome. Happy RPing.
