Name: James Hyers
Alias: The Shade
Class: Mage Support
Race: Human
Age: 25
Occupation: Bandit/Fortuneteller
Residence: Shurima
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Abilities:
Pointing the staff at an enemy causes it to emit a small ball of fire, the fire does not burn and does minor damage. [Basic Attack]
James is a dark mage, and while he could take on most mages at his skill level, he prefers to instead try his best to make them ineffective for his allies, hence why he has little to no offensive capability and more crowd control.
Passive: Rise to power- Anytime an enemy is damaged or an ally is assisted by James the effectiveness of his next spell is increased by 10%. This cannot be stacked and has a cooldown of 30 seconds.
Q: Dark Bulwark- James conjures a shield of darkness on up to 3 targets, shielding allies and dealing minor damage to enemies by constricting them. The more people are shielded the weaker the effects.
Range of shield- Withing 20 feet of James.
Cooldown of 35 seconds if thrown on allies, 40 if thrown on enemies.
W: Unsafe Hands- James conjures a small pool of shadow underneath an area, if an enemy is under it clawed hands rise from it and dig into their legs dealing minor damage and halt their movement. Should they attempt to move the claws dig deeper dealing increasing damage.
Pool size is 10 feet in diameter and is only active for 15 seconds.
Cooldown is 25 seconds and starts when the pool despawns, not when summoned.
E: Enveloping Shadows- A large shroud of shadow comes from seemingly nowhere and and rapidly develops around an area, if an ally of James is inside the shadow clears a way for them to meet up while enemies have their vision obscured.
Range of shroud is 20 feet in diameter.
Cooldown is 30 seconds.
R: Barrier of Crippling- James slams his staff into the ground and dark energy begins to surge around an area conjuring a barrier that slows their movement speed by a significant amount, if they remain inside the barrier for 5 seconds they are stunned for 1.5 seconds. When the stun wares off they will feel drained of their magical or physical strength for 10 seconds. (They'll still be able to fight back, just not as efficiently)
Lasts 30 seconds. the stun and slow effect can only trigger a max of two times on the same target.
Range of the zone is 20 feet in diameter.
5 minute cooldown and begins ticking when the barrier goes down.
Relationships:
Ray Famas- Traveling associate. Jokes around with and nearly gets shot on a daily basis.
Kin- Traveling associate. Tries not to tick her off while asking about how her shadow manipulation works.
Description:
James stands at a fine 6'1 weighing around 130 pounds and gives an ominous look to just about everyone he encounters. The robes he wears were purchased from a local shop along with a hood that he keeps on even indoors to keep people from seeing his face.
He has black hair and brown eyes, but ever since his incident they've given off a strange light purple glow and prefers to not show his face.
The staff he carries around was acquired one day from a mage he met on the way to Shurima that is supposed to ease the flow of magic within it's wielder, so he knocked him out and made on his way with it. Even though he discovered it had very little to no magic use, now he carries around because he finds it "fitting" for him.
Biography:
Early Life
James Hyers was born into a moderately wealthy family of Noxians his parents were hardworking people that he loved, but held his grandfather in a higher light and aspired to be a great mage like him. So in school on tests or in typical games of wit such as chess he cheated and gained respect among his peers and earned his grandfather's respect as a becoming young mage himself, but still he wanted more, He wanted now to outdo his grandfather and be a better mage than he was.
The "Incident"
Even at the age of 16 he cheated, although only when he was sure he wouldn't be able to accomplish the task normally, he wanted more. He wanted the power his grandfather commanded so badly he sneaked into his personal library of artifacts he had gathered over the years and searched for something that would give him a clear path of power. Hours after searching through numerous scrolls and other texts in the library he came upon a certain book on of the upper levels and began to flip through it until he came to one page that instantly had him gripped, it read "Those who follow the long road to power will find their journey at an end within these pages." And not soon after reading that to himself something inexplicable happened. It was as if the book was able to tell he had cheated and was looking for a shortcut, immense pain surged through him that brought him to his knees within seconds. He laid there in pain for what seemed like hours and left a changed man when the pain subsided, although now concealing his face, when his grandfather found him exiting his library he questioned what happened and James simply responded "I learned something the hard way." And although the incident had done something unspeakable to his face he did infact learn, the texts in the book seemed to flow into his mind giving him a small amount of knowledge of the power he was destined to wield in it's pages.
The journey begins
Years after the incident and having time to practice with his new power he felt he was ready to leave Noxus and begin his own path to power alone. One day in an local tavern he was actually approached by someone who said he could use special hands for a job.The man first told him of vast treasures buried deep within the sand of the Shurima Desert, but one such treasure required three keys. He told him that one such key can be found within the city of Noxus in the library of his grandfather's artifacts. It was nothing special, he reassured, just valuable to those who knew what it unlocked. He gave him a sketch of the object, along with a rather large sack of gold. He said that what he had given him was only a fraction of what the treasures could offer. James agreed to help, almost immediately, for the gold was too tempting an offer to refuse and if the man was telling the truth, he would be able to finance his own journey with no worries.
A Trio Emerges.
James once again managed to get into his grandfather's library and find the key with relative ease and was ready to set out on his way to Shurima, once he had arrived at the designated location he noticed a different man and two other individuals with keys identical to his and was hoping he wouldn't have to share too much with these people, Or that he would have to actually use his magic to dispose of them if he got the chance. This chance never arrived as armed thugs approached them, the man with a skull mask named Ray gave him and the woman a look to take them down and James, not wanting to go against even worse odds did just that and the trio emerged victorious. They soon discovered that the deal was fake and no power was to be obtained, but they took the base from their leader and his "minions."
Now two months later he chose to stick around with them committing small crimes throughout Valoran, mostly because he didn't want to go back home and was hoping to himself that if he stuck with these two eventually he would find the power he was looking for. Why the other two stay in the group is unknown to him, but as long as they don't turn on him he's fine with them.
"You want to know why i hide my face? It's because there's nothing left and i want to scare children in the night. Snicker" -James to Kin and Ray when they question why he never takes off his hood.
