The morning sun was slowly hitting the peak of Ionia. Though in the beautiful forests of this nation, it didn't help much. The thick layers of leaves and branches hid most of the earth below from the sun. However, the lizardman known as Suk-Taan was not laying in the dirt below. No, that could be dangerous. He sat in the trees, resting as he was gathering energy needed for the day.
Sunlight managed to creak through the leaves, shining itself into Suk's face, imploring him to wake up. He let out a small groan, wrapped up in his robes to keep himself warm while he clung onto his precious violin. Something the monks gave him before he finally left the monastery. Slowly, his eyes opened to show those yellow irises of his. With one hand he held onto the violin case, while another hand rubbed the dirt from his eyes, giving a good look down below and to his surroundings. Looks like nobody was here... Good.
It's not that he hated humans, he had learned from the monastery and the monks that there were many kind humans, as well as evil ones. The problem was how everyday people would react to him. It's not everyday you see what would look like a normal creature turns out to be something hideous and displeasing to human eyes once he takes the robes off his head. He did his best to keep balance on the thick branch as he slowly used the trunk of the tree to get himself on his feet, make his trek down the tree.
He finally hit the ground with a small grunt, pulling the robes over himself along with the hood. For a summer morning, it was rather cool. Not that he actually minds of course. The heat of the shaman spirit keeps him warm and protected. He began to walk through the forests, looking up and around him to observe the beautiful. So this is what he had missed his life? His kind was secluded in the mountains, until the day the grand lightning storm came and had caused people to scatter as lightning and winds tore up their village.
He listened to the birds chirp, the crickets creek, the sights of squirrels scurrying up trees... Now that he saw those animals he WAS a bit hungry...
He ventured to the river, managing to catch a few fish. Being part of the lizardfolk had its perks. Sure they could function like a normal human being, minus some health problems, but they could always rely on their... Savage side of them. He had caught a fish with a quick flurry of his hand as he grabbed hold of the medium sized flopping creature. He sunk his teeth into the fish with his sharp teeth, puncturing flesh and waited for it to cease movement and let death take its hold. After that, he began to grab some dead wood to build a fire.
Everything was built now, a pile of neatly placed sticks along with a fire circle to prevent spreading anywhere fast. He held out his hand, his glaive summoning to him as it appeared in a flurry of fire. Channeling the magic from the glaive to his other hand, he had formed a small fire ball on his index finger. He tossed the fire into the pile as he watched the fire take hold to make a proper camp fire. He jabbed a stick through the mouth of the fish as it came out the end, hovering it now over the fire so that it cooked.
He let out a small sigh of boredom, setting the stick between the rocks so it was held in place. He reached over to the violin case that sat by his side. He opened up the case, smiling at the sight of his only companion for this travel. He pulled it out of its casing, hands delicate with the wood. He never use to be this delicate, as training with the glaive taught him to be rough and a fighter, but the monks had given him the ability of patience, compassion, and elegance. He began to play a soft tune, one that complimented the beautiful forests of Ionia, as its wondrous tune danced through the trees and the smoke of the fire.

Between her work at the Institute and her responsibilities at home, a day off was a rarity for Nova. None the less, she took those she could get with great pleasure and always kept a means of communication open with the Institute; in case of emergency.
Fortunately, no one had seen fit to call her in today. She was surprised, certainly, with all of the stress things seemed to be under lately; but she wasn't about to look a gift horse in the mouth. Nova had left her estate that morning with a spring in her step.
For those who only knew her from the institute, there's a chance they wouldn't have recognized her. Her bangs were pinned to the side and kept out of her face instead of gracing her glasses. She was dressed in a well fitting yet modern Ionain dress; something comfortable yet fashionable. It was certainly a relief to spend a day not swimming in her summoner robes. The dress even gave her an actual body shape.
She often spent her free time out in the woods, free from the sensory bombardment of the crowded places she was used to; not having to listen to hundreds of voices and see the endless rainbows of emotions was a godsend. Instead she had only the green of the trees, the pastels of flowers and blues of the river. She closed her eyes and listened as she walked; to the babble of the water, the wind, the cries of a violin.
"Wait..."
Nova crept towards the sound keeping as quiet as she could. It was enchanting, that little song. It danced through the trees and wove its way through each blade of grass. It rose up and down with the wind and played with the petals on the flowers. Yet, despite it's jaunty tune it reflected the seriousness of the world; and Nova had always found violins to sound rather sad. She found herself growing lost as she tracked the sound, the forest growing more and more unfamiliar with each step.
A few minutes later she stopped to rest; taking a seat against a small birch tree. She could smell the smoke from here, a reminder that the song of the violin came from someone else. She bobbed her head and hummed along, improvising her own little tune.
Suk kept playing his violin, sad strings crying out their song as it sang out to the trees, to Ionia, to the world. His eyes slowly closed, losing himself in the music just for a little bit. To forget. Music had kept him company within the monastery. The monastery was only a temporary home. He could never thank them enough for taking him in, feeding him, and keeping him protected from those who would be quick to judge. Yet, it wasn't home. He would never BE home. Home was destroyed from what he saw as a child.
His tail slowly unraveled from under the cloak and hung out lightly, slowly swinging in the song. He only opened his eyes for a moment to check on the food, only to see it was finished. He stopped abruptly, mid song as he silenced his channeled and wordless cries as he set the violin down to grab hold of his meal. He grabbed hold of the stick, observing the cooked meat before taking a bite into it with his sharp teeth. Sure there were scales and what not, but having the teeth to cut through had its perks. Not to mention it wouldn't be the first time he would've eaten something without skinning it, or cooking it.
He swallowed his food, looking around the area. Silence... Except for the sounds of nature... Alone, but not alone... No... Alone... He had never been down the mountains. What was once his world had suddenly exploded into an even larger world. One he was clueless of, and one where only he could let his instinct guide him. He turned his head even more, looking over to the general direction of his destination. The mountains. He needed to get there. He needed to get back home. Sure, even if there weren't any left there, maybe... Just MAYBE he could find some sort of clue to find more of his kind. Then again, he didn't even want to think about there being none left. To be the only one of his kind.
For now though, he would turn back to the food in his hands, and continue eating. He'll need the energy for the journey about to follow him.

Nova's eyes shot open as the music stopped. The abruptness caught her off guard. Her hum trailed out. With the sound of the music gone she had no guide. She was alone in the forest....lost. Of course, there were worse places to become lost.
She stood up and looked down to brush off her dress when she saw it. A small spider had made himself cozy on her lap while she had been sitting. Lost in her own world, Nova hadn't noticed it. While the girl didn't have a particular problem with spiders, she didn't appreciate anything sneaking up on her, and the surprise sight of the arachnid caused her to shriek. She brushed it off and jumped about, trying to avoid it as it scurried off.
Once it was gone she remembered she hadn't been alone. The summoner clasped a hand over her mouth and stood still, hoping to disappear, perhaps, into the world around her. She hoped that the other person would pass the sound off as nothing and ignore her. She hoped that she wouldn't attract any unnecessary attention; or at least that whoever she attracted the attention of wasn't immediately hostile.
Suk silently munched away at his fish, yellow eyes staring into the abyss of heat and flames. He stayed quiet, thinking to himself. What would today be like? What would he do on the first day of his quest. Sure, finding a way back up the mountains would be good. Then again, he didn't want attract attention. How would people react? Then again, he wasn't aware of some of the things that roam Valoran.
Though his train of thoughts crashed as he heard the shriek of a human female. He pulled his hood up immediately, tail tucked away and from the view of others. He held out his hand instantly flame shot out from the sides of it. The flickering fire dissipated to reveal a glaive, shining within the morning sun. He took hold of it with two hands, backing away from where heard it. "Hello?? W-Who's there?" He asked. He would be hostile if needed, but the while situation made him a bit nervous.
It had been a long time. Years had passed since he had tread these paths. The entire area looked as though it had gone untouched, as if time itself had frozen on the sole island of Ionia. Time that Varus didn't have. Since the day of the invasion years ago, he had wandered around Runeterra without a lead, but much purpose. How he wound back up on this god forsaken island he couldn't remember but he must have had some reason.
Every golden leaf, every bent branch, every rustle in the wind brought back memories of the past. Every footstep fell heavier and heavier, slowing down his pace, until Varus came to a halt. An intense, sharp feeling of pain burst through his head like lightning striking his brain. He grabbed his knees for stability, his heart racing and breathing labored.
Suddenly what sounded to be a young girls scream pierced through the barrier of horrific memories.
Was it her?
"Darling?!" Varus snapped up, determined to find the direction of the scream. It was her, it had to be. He wouldn't let her go, not again. A new breeze brought the scent of smoke into the air.
Fire.
Not again. No no no. He ran north towards the smell and the scream.

Bare feet caressed the floor of the Ionian forest gently with the smallest of chimes following in its wake. A walking stick swaying back and forth, occasionally hitting a rock or a tree causing the steps to shift to move around until a path could be found.
An ear perked at the sound of a distant shriek. Curiously the chime came again as she turned and started in its direction. The small woman couldn't be more than 4'5, incredibly small for a human but oddly quite proportionate like a normal sized person would be. However she had peculiarities such as feline ears, drooped at the sides of her head, and a tail that swung from side to side, flicking a set of bells tied to the end to help her navigate. Blind, green eyes stared forward, slowly drawing nearer to the source of the sound she heard.
Varus ran as fast as his feet would carry him towards the scream and smell. Through the flashing memories, almost as if an outside noise, the chime of cat bells rang out faintly overhead.
Trees and bushes flew by on all sides of him endlessly. Then out of nowhere, a girlish figure stepped into his path. Varus stopped and firmly but gently grabbed the girls shoulders. No, not quite a girl. Well yes a girl, but a feline one. He looked her over from perked ears to twitching tail.
"No, no sorry, not you... you're not..." As soon as he didn't recognize her it was as if he didn't even see her. Through his half hearted, mechanical apologies he looked past the girl deeper into the wood.
"I'm sorry, I can't... I must go..." Varus let go of her and darted past, deeper into the wood without a second thought, his mind back into his own memory.

"I'm so sorry!" Nova squeaked, hearing the question. She still hadn't moved. "I was..." She paused, picking up the sound of someone running through the woods behind her. The small tinkling sound of bells elsewhere. She had drawn attention to herself.
But there was another matter at hand first. She took a deep breath and spoke, "Nova. Nova Vespera."
Carefully, Nova slowly made a 360 degree turn; scanning the forest around her. She was looking for colors that didn't belong, hints of auras; an indicator of some sort to the source of the other two noises. She found nothing. Light streamed at an odd angle through the trees ahead, no doubt reflected by something. Still she did not move. Although she was a summoner, in a one on one fight she was likely to end up the loser. Her magic was not the offensive.
"I didn't mean to alarm you...I was surprised by a spider..."
The sound of Varus' foot falls rapidly closing the distance to her, would cause Amaya to react somewhat defensively by drawing the walking stick up tight against her body. She had stopped walking by his point, letting her somewhat droopy ears lift lightly to listen more intently upon her surroundings.
The man's aura was strong, radiating against her own when he stood in front of her. It was the sudden feeling of his touch that would cause her to startle, letting out a quick cry as her body jumped under his grip. She looked even more confused at his mutterings, tail twitching a bit faster both in confusion and discomfort at the sudden, unwelcome sensation of being grabbed.
At the stream of apologies, Amaya carefully went to rest one hand atop his as if trying to bring him some sense of comfort. But before she could, he was rushing away from her again. Her nostrils flare at the smell of the fire, coming from the direction his steps were hurriedly carrying him. With some effort, she began to pick up speed though given her lack of sight she would be much slower in comparison. The walking stick waved around more quickly as she allowed her bare feet to feel the ground and her ears and nose to help guide her onward towards the destination the strange man appeared to be heading.
Suk watched the woman emerge from behind the large tree, pausing for a moment. It was... Different to say the least. Wasn't every often he saw a woman that wasn't a lizard or dressed up in monk robes with a shaven head. Not to mention just seeing someone else in a different style of clothing couldn't help but make him stare her up in down, curiously looking at the clothing. He caught himself staring, though it wouldn't matter for the most part as the hood kept his face hidden for the most part.
His yellow eyes glowed faintly as light reflected from it, before turning away from her. Though the sounds of shouting and screaming made him instantly turn around, and if they could, the knuckles would turn white from the grip he had on his weapon. Though she may see how red and scaly they were. Whatever he was... He wasn't human. "Oh no..." He said, panic showing in his voice and body beneath the robes. Perhaps she was with another? A loved one? He stepped back, fumbling to the ground to pack up his violin. Once done, he began mumbling to himself with fright, poking the fire with his glaive once or twice so the fire would go out.
He turned back to her, stepping away a little bit more. "Now look what you have done." He hissed, before he began to make a run for it, hearing those bells jingle slightly in the distance. What were those? Alarms?? He began to panic more as he began running, a small glimpse of what appeared to be a tail under his robes as he made a run for it.

"No! Wait!" Nova called. She caught the sight of a tail as he darted into the trees. As a summoner, Nova was used to seeing the inhuman champions on the fields. They were dangerous, of course, but no more so than any of the human or yordle champions.
The sound of another running for them came closer. The bells followed. Nova weighed the potential dangers in her mind. She came to the conclusion that going home would be the best action...but not the right one. If these other two sounds meant any sort of hostilities, she would have brought them upon an innocent creature.
Slipping of her shoes, Nova ran in the creature's direction, calling to him as she went, "Wait! Please! Come back!"
The sense of human presence grew more intensely in his mind as Varus drew closer. The cat girl back there had startled him, made him lose his focus, but not for long. looking through the leaves and bushes he could now make out a clearing. Voices sounding like conversation floated towards his ears. Then a "Wait! Please!" was heard, followed by the sound of fast but light weighted footfalls.
Varus burst through the clearing but only saw it for a second, for as soon as he was free from the growth, he ran smack into a young girl. He only saw the glint of her glasses and the streak of purple running through her bangs before he shut his eyes and grabbed her to stop them from both falling.

Nova gasped as she was caught off guard by the force behind her. She tried to turn but lost her balance, her fall only stopped by a pair of what felt like strong arms. She winced as her glasses shifted, pressing painfully into her face and smudging the glass.
She shook her head to loosen them and opened her eyes. A deep purple aura, nearly black filled her vision. It was broken only by strands of white hair and an almost equally white face. She blinked, the fear never leaving her face. "I'm sorry..." she squeaked.
Two issues rested at hand. The violinist was getting away with every further moment. She was quick, but also certain she lacked the endurance to chase him down. The other issue was the person holding her; the unmistakable Arrow of Retribution. "I'm sorry..."
Suk had kept running for only a little while, his thoughts racing and speeding even farther than he ever could. Human contact. He actually made human contact. It was horrifying, yet at the same time it was clarity. To see someone that wasn't a monk, or some sort of other species of race like a yordle. It... Was fascinating really... Though terrifying... Perhaps he would get use to it.
Though at the sounds of her begging and pleading, he stopped. Why did she want him to come back? And in such a tone of voice? He still heard bells in the background... Perhaps they had gotten to her? It wasn't that far away he had traveled. He looked down the path he was trotting, more trees to help him escape, forget all about this and run... Or he could turn back and go to her, see what was wrong and to see if she was okay.
He looked both ways for a few seconds before letting out a frustrated sigh. He hooked the handle of the violin case onto a branch before turning back the way he came. It would seem the morals of the monk stuck to his mind. A blessing and a curse he supposed. He hopped through the branches to the source of sound, glaive in hand.
When he got there though, what he saw looked like a COMPLETELY different situation compared to her point of view. A man, covered in this oddly colored stuff, no pupils in his eyes. His hands had a tight grip on her shoulders, and all she could say was that she was sorry. To him, it looked like some dark being ready to take her life force or worse. From the shrouds of his hood came a loud hiss, gripping his glaive tightly as he looked down below to them from the branches. He pointed the blade to him, heat radiating from it. He kept a glare at her, a low hiss now resonating from him, telling him to back off.
