July 8th, 23 CLE
Kayle's boots struck against the stone of the Bower... she honestly had no clue why she was seeking out the Star Child... but yet, here she was. She was dressed, not in her armor for once, but in a hooded, grey robe. The robe her mother had made for her... she let out a sigh and looked down at it... she hadn't wore it in a very long time.
Her sapphire eyes flickered up, looking around the stone grove, pushing the golden hair from her face. "Soraka?" She called out softly, her normal, strong, commanding voice softer than usual.

The acolytes had scattered before the intimidating visage of the Judicator, another infamous face across Runeterra. Some stared, a few whispered, but they were all quick to resume their business.
"Judicator," came a voice, calm and otherworldly. It echoed across the astral ore in the floor and walls of the temple, seeming to surround the angel in a mysterious omnipresence. Yet, the origin of the voice came from above. In the center of the Bower was a spiral staircase that wound upward into the heavens, and it was upon these stairs that the Starchild stood, looking down upon Kayle with opalescent eyes that glowed golden amber.
"You have come a long way," Soraka continued warmly, each step of her heavy hooves upon the stone ringing out in the serene utter silence of the temple, "What brings you to the seat of the stars?"

"I... I do not know..." Kayle replied truthfully, her eyes flickering to the stone of the floor. There was an aura of burden around the Judicator, an aura that Soraka may or may not feel. The timeless angel looked back up at the Star Child. Her face was impassive, but her icy blue eyes told a story of deep pain... pain that hadn't been properly dealt with; whether Kayle saw it or not.
The Starchild watched her in silence, continuing her slow descent to the ground. Golden robes with silver embroidery that spelled out Ionian hymns of old flowed around her, casting sharp contrast to the soft amaranth of her skin. Her horn pulsed with golden light, consecrating the air around her. As she neared Kayle, that aura washed over her like trickles of warm water.
"So far from home, indeed." Soraka touched down upon the ground and resigned to stillness. "Your heart is heavy."

Kayle closed her eyes for a moment before reopening them. Her features did not change... but she did not deny Soraka's words. "Is it that easy to tell..?" Kayle finally replied, looking over Soraka's divine form. She couldn't help but wonder what it was like to speak with stars themselves...

The Judicator looked past Soraka at the room, furrowing her brows slightly... part of her thought this was foolish... but part of her urged her on, and it seemed that part won out as she began to walk, passing Soraka and entering the room. She sighed "Why do you help people?" Kayle asked, the question sudden, and without much reason outside of curiosity. Kayle turned back to face Soraka, wondering what her reply would be.
Her pace was slow, making it rather easy for Kayle to pass her and enter the prayer room first. Upon crossing the threshold, Soraka moved to a bench and eased down into it, her hands smoothing out the material of her robes upon her lap.
"Because they need help." A simple reply, yet perhaps profound to think upon. "If a starving man visits a baker who has a wealth of bread far beyond that which he could eat himself, should the baker not help him?"
The angel stood motionless... silence soon filling the room as she faced away from Soraka, looking out a nearby window, her eyes scanning the stars as if they held an answer that was long sense lost away. Kayle's eye's flickered down to the stone she was standing on, the cracks running through it revealing it's age.
"You help to help..." Kayle finally spoke, her eyes flickering up to the window once more. "No ulterior motive." The angel couldn't help but wonder why more people didn't do that to begin with... why must people only help if they know they would get something in return? She sighed at the thought, closing her eyes for a moment...
"....Kayle!... Kayle!" Morgana said, running to her sister as tears rolled down her face. Kayle was sitting on a cloud itself, just outside the Hall of Judicators, where she spent most of her time training... she wanted to be one when she grew up. Kayle's eyes flickered to her sister as a smile crept over her face. Morgana flew to where Kayle was and landed beside her, a small cut slid over her left arm. "There there..." Kayle said, taking her sisters arm and running a hand over it, the little bit of healing magic she learned taking over and sealing the wound shut.
Morgana sniffled and hugged Kayle tightly. "Kayle... why do you help people?" She asked, the question somewhat sudden. Kayle smiled and patted her sisters back. "Why not..?" Was the only response she could give.
As the distant memory faded, Kayle reopened her eyes, tears rolled down her face; plopping silently on the stone floor. Kayle couldn't even remember the last time she had shed tears. She cursed herself inwardly... she was suppose to be this strong, capable warrior, yet here she was... shedding tears like a mere child. She quickly wiped away the wetness from her eyes, she wondered if Soraka saw the tears or not...
Kayle turned back to Soraka, her features solemn... the mask she wore finally beginning to crack. "Do you miss the stars...?" She asked, meeting Soraka's eyes with her own. Kayle missed her people greatly... her heart ached, not only that; though Kayle would never admit it, she missed her sister... She missed Morgana.
She felt a lone in this world... she longed for understanding. If someone, anyone, could understand her pain... perhaps it would be... easier. That was wistful thinking at best though... no one in this realm could ever imagine the pain she felt... though, Kayle didn't wish this burden on anyone.
Kayle merely stood in silence, waiting to see what Soraka would say.

"Yes. well, I do gain satisfaction and happiness from helping others." The Starchild chuckled softly, "So, perhaps it is not so entirely without gain."
As Kayle's eyes closed, her mind wandering into some unknown nostalgia, Soraka's inhuman eyes fixated upon that pale face. There was torment writhing behind those angelic features, torment that Soraka could not understand or sympathize. What she knew of Kayle was from the mouths of others, but they all spoke of the conflict between her and Morgana. To be forced into battle with one's sister, to have such a sacred bond twisted and violated...the Starchild could not understand. Her family was the Amaranthine Luminescence, and there was no betrayal amongst the stars. There was no conflict of good and evil, right and wrong. Soraka had never known betrayal before Warwick, and in that moment of pain and bloodshed, her innocent view of the universe had been ripped apart. Even still, that man was not her family. She had not spent eons with him. As much as that deception had hurt her, she could not fathom Kayle's torment.
When the Judicator opened her eyes, she found Soraka staring into her face with those alien, aniridiac eyes that somehow seemed to express a strange gentleness.
"Every day. I miss the simplicity, the companionship, the singularity of purpose that bore no shade of grey. I once felt alone, abandoned. But I know that this is not the end. This is but a chapter in my existence, and it is one I must complete without my people. However, I also know that my time walking amongst the mortals of Runeterra will enrich my life. The lessons I learn, the people I meet, and the experiences I live as a mortal being are things I will never forget."

"The mortals of this realm are corrupt... in one way or another." Kayle sighed, her eyes flickering to the stone once more. "But... they are worth saving." She looked back to Soraka, her eyes meeting the golden spheres of the celestial being. "...What's it like... being mortal?" Kayle asked. She was always curious...
Soraka stood, watching the silk of her robes fall to the ground like golden waterfalls. Her back turned to the Judicator as her eyes sought the stars through an open window. She did not agree, per sé, with Kayle's diagnosis, and particularly not with her methods.
"Do not be so quick to judge them. Greatness must shine through imperfection." Her hands rested on the window sill, feeling the smooth stone and ore upon her fingers. "I cannot explain mortality. If you are curious, you should experience it for yourself."
