'I wonder who my parents would want me to meet? There isn't anybody that I know well - or would want to know, for that matter - that needs me to meet them in this kind of fashion, and I don't recall my parents needing to meet anyone, new or old, in this manner either...'
So thought Jonathan as he made his way to the front of the academy: he never had to meet anyone - nor knew anyone who did - in this kind of manner for his own business, much less do so for his parents.
Of course, his parents were beginning to reach a more ripe age: himself only being born when they were in their early twenties, they were now in their sixties today, and seeing that they were beginning to lose their agility and mobility, it made sense that he should go and meet whoever they wanted to meet in their place.
'I mean, I'm 39 - old enough to start slowing down myself - but I guess still being active is enough, much less still having to command a company.'
He looked up at the large, impressive building that was the Academy of Science and Progress, the very same school he went to nearly thirty years ago. He could still remember the first time he approached the rather imposing building, anxious over how the people would treat him with his age.
The excitement, the curiosity, the confidence: these emotions flowed through him again for just a fleeting moment; he was 11 again, armed with the brilliance of academia, ready to take on the challenges of the scholarly and the scientific worlds.
He wondered if he'd feel different going into the academy with the knowledge of what was to follow up to now; then he chuckled. Of course he would.
Alas, he noted, this would be the first time he would approach the school, yet not enter it. He made a mental note when he still attended the Academy that he thought there would be a revelation if his pattern of schooling had ever changed.
Perhaps there would be a surprise in this meeting.
'Well, I wonder who I'd be meeting here; I wouldn't know of any secret things my parents did...'

Melanie had just gotten home from her trip to Noxus with Adal when she had gotten a letter, "Meet me at the Academy of Science and Progress in Piltover in four days. Your parent's are back, look for a tall man in uniform." At first she had dismissed the letter, thinking it was a hoax or something, but then agian, the one who sent it might know something, she was going to Piltover.
A few hours later she found herself on her way to Piltover via boat, she had only packed enough so that she'd make it to Piltover and last a day there, thinking she'd have time to buy something to eat before meeting who ever wanted to meet her.
The days passed and soon she was standing at the docks in Piltover, she never expected to go there by herself willingly, but then again, there she was, in the city she was born in, "Home sweet hell, I guess.." She said to herself and began walking towards the Academy, she didn't hate the city of progress, it just had a bad feel to it.
She walked past a cafe, she stopped for a second and looked at it, yeah she had time to buy something to eat. 10 minutes later she was on her way again towards the Academy.
When she walked up towards the Academy she noticed how big it was, this was the closest she had been to it. She bumped into someone who she didn't bother looking at as she walked and looked at the facade of the building, "Oh, my fault, I'm sorry." she said without taking her eyes of the building. She stopped once she thought she was close enough to it and looked around her, who was the one that had wanted her to come to Piltover from Zaun.

Jonathan merely kept his eye out, looking for anyone who might notice him; he was told that the person he was waiting for would recognize him, which only left to surprise him even more, but he figured that someone had perhaps sent a picture of himself to assist them.
He had just turned his head to look down one way of the street when someone bumped into him.
"Oi!"
He spun around, trying to recover his balance, and regained it, only to have his attention be focused on the person he thought ran into him; a woman, rather tall (though quite short in his view - being unnaturally tall tended to cause such perceptions), now having her attention facing the building.
She seemed to not be about something, so Jon made his way up to her, and tapping her on the shoulder, asked.
"Er, excuse me, miss, are you looking for something?"

She turned around and looked at the man who tapped her on the shoulder, "Wow, he's tall and he's wearing a uniform, must be him then." she thought to herself. "Oh, hi, I was looking for someone, but it seems he found me, you don't happen to be the one who sent me this letter?" She handed him the letter and waited for him to read it.

Jonathan looked at the letter and instantly recognized his father's handwriting. It was interesting that the person would still hold onto the letter, he pondered. Perhaps she hadn't been in the City before?
"Yeah, it's my Dad's. So, you're the person I was supposed to wait for, I suppose? I guess I should introduce myself. I'm Jonathan, but you can call me Jon. Who would I have the pleasure of meeting?"

Hmm... the person who sent the letter and the one she met wasn't the same? She listened to what he had to say before replying. "Hello Jon, nice to meet you, my name is Melanie Hazlewood, most call me Mel." His Father wrote this? Why would he write it?

Jon nodded at Mel's response. 'Alright, so we have a girl named Melanie who his parents were looking for... but why?' There was some ugly creeping thought climbing up his spine, but he wasn't sure what it was trying to alert him to.
"Alright, Mel. Nice to meet you. Well, my parents wanted to meet you for something, but they're getting old, so they sent me. It's a good thing you got the letter."
"So, I suppose you'd have happened to meet my parents sometime before, eh? They usually don't send me - or anyone, for that matter - to meet their friends."

"Sorry, but I have no idea who your parents are, I got the letter saying that my parents are back and I was going to look for you." Melanie was getting a bit confused, first someone sends her a random letter talking about her parents and now when she's talking to him, he thinks she's his parents friends? she scratched the back of her head and looked at him, "So Jon, what's your parents names, I might have heard of them, I used to live here a few years ago."

Seeing the confusion on Mel's face only served to leave Jon even more baffled; was there something his parents were hiding from him? The question caught Jon a bit by surprise, leaving him with his head slightly tilted and wondering what she was getting at, though he answered otherwise non-suspect.
"Jeremy and Sonya. They're usually pretty quiet around in the city but got more active as of late, so I guess you must've run into them sometime recently... but why do you ask?" He couldn't help but think there was some ugly revelation he was about to run into...
She stared blankly at Jon when she heard those names, the names of her parents, said by him when she asked him about his parents? She took a step back, "How do you know my parents name?" she said with a stone cold face.

The response Mel gave him had a chilling effect, as well as now truly dumbfounding him: on one hand, their parents shared the same names, which was a massive coincidence... if they were different parents.
On the other, he couldn't believe the alternative - that they shared the same mother and father. He'd never even got a hint that there'd be a sibling.
...but then he remembered a particular night: how his parents were hush, how they tried to keep it to themselves, and how they made him forget it; but he still remembered a phrase that left him ever curious: 'the other child.'
However, it was still just a suspicion, in spite of its increasingly powerful case: he couldn't be sure if it.
"Wha... they're your parent's names too? That's a heckuva coincidence... but I wasn't lying when I said they were my parent's names: Jeremy's my father, Sonya's my mother..."
That was the name of her parents, she was sure of it. "Mhmm.. My parents have the exact same names, my mother was Zaunite and my father Ionian." She didn't know what to think, if he had the same parents as she, he'd be her older brother. But why didn't they tell her about him? But there was other things they didn't tell her about, such as why they left her alone.

The revealing of her parent's ethnicities struck Jon even harder; this was reaching the point where the number of coincidences mounting up was too much...
"Hold up... they're of the same ethnicity my parents share too!--"
Jon was now coming to think that they might actually be siblings, but there was an absolute fail-safe to check out that fact. He asked Mel a question, which would reveal whether or not they did truly have a common mother and father.
"Hold on, there's a very easy way to be sure of this... if we were - somehow - of the same parents, you'd know the answer to this question: what are the 3 requirements mom and dad needed you to follow whenever you wanted to go out at night?"He still couldn't believe that they were, indeed, brother and sister...
She thought for a bit, she hadn't been out so much before she moved to Demacia, she eventually remembered what her parent's had said, "Well the first requirement was be home not a minute after said time. Second one was that if they could smell cigarette smoke from you, you're basically dead and lastly don't do anything that could end up with you getting hurt. Also they wanted to know who you where going to be with, so they knew where to look if you didn't come home on time."
She wondered how'd he react, she felt a bit uneasy about this whole situation, she looked around her to see if anything had changed during their talk. First thing that came to mind was another illusionist around, but nothing had changed.

Every requirement she said rang very loudly in his ears, and it gave a momentary flashback to go along with it.
'Well the first requirement was be home not a minute after said time...'
"Jonny! You're supposed to be back at 6, it's 6:30 right now! What on Runeterra have you been doing!?..."
'Second one was that if they could smell cigarette smoke from you, you're basically dead...'
"Son, what's that in you left hand?... Is it what I think it is!? You hand that over right now! I will not permit my child to fall to such egregious behavior!..."
'...and lastly don't do anything that could end up with you getting hurt.'
"Jonny, look at me. Your father and I know it's too dangerous for you to join the fencing club; there were several accidents last year that had people losing eyes! No, that is our final answer. It's too late to go to a club that starts at eight anyways."
'...also they wanted to know who you where going to be with, so they knew where to look if you didn't come home on time.'
"Alright, you're going over Victorino's house today? Okay, but make sure you stay in there the whole time! Don't want you disappearing or getting into any antics now..."
While this passed through his mind, Jon could only stare blankly; it was only for a few moments, but to him the moment lasted hours.
When he finally recovered, he shook his head and could only exclaim his reaction at what this evidence meant: they were siblings.
"Why - wha - HOW!? That's it; the three big rules! Each and every one of them, every word exactly as they stated it!"
"But that can't be right-!"He still - rather blankly - couldn't believe the situation; he had been raised all this time as an only child, with not even a hint his parents would have another - and yet here she was, a sister fourteen years his junior, who now had just described perfectly every part of her parents his parents had.
These were going to be very interesting times for Jon...
