Hello yordles, longlegs, voidbeasts, skeletons, and other wonderful and not-so-wonderful creatures of Maelstrom! As some of you know, I like to play piano and compose music for fun. Hence, this is the thread where I will post most of my musical compositions for all of you to enjoy or writhe at. Currently, most of my compositions are just piano-based, but I do make orchestral pieces occasionally.
I might post some art too, but I'm pretty terribad at drawing so most of the stuff here will be music.
Moving on...
Fizz's Theme: Playful Fantasy (Piano) - Music link Probably the worst song I've ever made, which isn't too surprising because it's also the first one I've made. I made this for the Champion Rocks contest in 2012, but I also made it for two people who will forever have a special place in my heart. Looking back, I don't really know why I submitted this to the contest, because A. It's a piano song, which is pretty lame to submit for a rock contest, and B. It doesn't really sound like Fizz at all. Oh well, 'twas fun to play though.
Bilgewater Theme: To the Seas (Piano) - Sheet music link The second piano song I've composed, which is, in my opinion, WAY better than the Fizz one. Actually, I think this is one of the best songs I've composed thus far, which is funny, because I made it only a month after the Fizz song. Anyways, this was composed with Bilgewater in mind (duh), but I also made it for the same two people mentioned above.
Bandle City Theme: Tiny Explorers on a Big Adventure (Orchestral... kinda) - Music link This sounds more like a video game theme rather than an orchestra piece.
Anyways, this piece took five days to make, and I'm very proud of it because, in my opinion, it's the best piece I've ever written amongst my league related and non-league related pieces. I don't really know if it sounds that Bandle-ish because I kinda got carried away while making this... plus I really suck at making titles.
I might post my non-league related pieces too if people care enough to listen to them... Other than that though, not much else to say, so enjoy!
Gaah, your stuff is so good! I am a rather inexperienced musician, and I want to get into composing, I just haven't really found that spot where I can compose something outta the blue.
Great job, I look forward to anything else in the future.

Thanks for the compliments, guys! Glad to know I can inspire other people to make music, too. :D
And Shaco, your compositions aren't bad, either! Believe me, I don't have that much experience as well, since I've only been doing this for about a year. =w= I'm actually interested in hearing what other songs you can make, especially once you're given a better music composition software than Musescore, heh.

If your third piece was in a video game, I would play it instantly. You are an excellent composer!
Sometimes, when you've been stuck alone for long enough, you just have to break out into reality, with no regard for what position it may put you in. It is better to try and fail than to never try.

Heh, I don't think it's THAT good. xD
Anyways, I've never used Sibelius before, but from what I've heard, Sibelius and Finale are both really good software for sheet music writing and composition. One of my friends uses Notion Music software, which is pretty neat because the sounds it uses are from real recorded instruments rather than synthesized ones.
I just use Musescore for sheet writing (cuz I'm cheap) and FL Studio for everything else.

Rumble tries to properly lineart and shade something with a tablet for the first time ever and fails.
Oh well, even though it's 50 minutes late according to Finland time, HAPPY BIRTHDAY POPPY HERE'S FIZZ WEARING AN OVERSIZED SWEATSHIRT YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Well, I just finished another piece, which has a much more complete instrumentation than my other two. Here is the link. In my opinion, I felt I did a much better job on this one on giving more parts to instruments, instead of just playing the same thing over and over. However, that might have compromised the repetitiveness of the overall thing :P
WHATEVER. Just tell me what you think, and I will stop listening to my self conscious brain.

WOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAH DUDE THIS IS SO GOOD, LIKE WAY BETTER THAN ANYTHING I'VE EVER MADE, I'M FREAKING JELLY OF YOU RIGHT NOW
Seriously though, your composition rocks. I was gonna record a piano piece I improvised, but now I have to make something way way way better to one up your music. T.T
Hmm... I'll comment what I do like and what can be improved though.
One, I really like the melody you chose. It definitely has that battle theme there and it's not anything too complicated, so you did a really great job there. You also did a nice job with the beginning, where you started off with the ostinato in the horn and let it build up to the melody. It's a pretty common way to start off epic orchestral pieces, but it's also a good way too, and you executed it pretty well.
However, I know I commented this on your other pieces, but your ending could still use some work. If you were making a war song and named it "Clash at the Old Gate," then I'd expect the song to end with a bang. Y'know, all or most of the instruments ending on one note to really finish off an epic song. Currently, the ending I hear trails off too much. What I'd do instead is have measures 94-101 (where you have that awesome key change) repeat four times instead of two, with the third and fourth repetition having additional harmony and the fourth repetition having a ritardando to end the piece. (Sorry if I didn't explain it too well, I'm not the greatest when it comes to words, heh.)
I think the only other problem I had is at measure 38, where the second melody with the oboe comes in. It's not a huge problem, so this could just be me, but I feel like the oboe comes in too late after the main melody at the beginning. It's probably because you put too much silence between the two parts at measures 17-38.
What I really liked about the piece was where you had that key change at measure 90. That's probably my favorite part, where the main melody comes in again at a slightly higher key. I've heard plenty of songs that would repeat the same melody at a key a half-step or whole step higher near the ending, but in my opinion, it's a really good way to bring out an epic ending.
I honestly think your composition is better than anything else I've written, so I'm gonna have a tough time one upping your music. x3 Great job!
Wow! I didn't expect such a positive reaction, thanks! I'll post this to my old composition thread, and any future ones that I compose will go there as well.
