Wu had by this point climbed the tree and gotten himself situated. He was glad for the break, though he'd never admit it! After all, he was the infamous MONKEY KING! Can't beat that, right? He'd turn slightly when he heard Naiyu's voice, letting himself roll off the branch to fall, only to catch as his tail clung to the branch itself. His hands would extend down towards the smaller woman, "Sure! Thanks, Naiyu! I probably won't need it, but the thought is appreciated!"
As he took the blanket from her, he'd pause to check on her - noting the thing she seemed to distinctly attempt to hide. Curiosity getting the better of him, he blurted out without thinking, "Whatcha hiding?" He questioned, tilting his head as he continued to hang from his tail.

At Wukong's voiced notice her body visibly twitched, her face blending into her well known shade of rose. "A-Ah....u-uhm..." fidgeting fingers twiddled behind her back as she thought for a moment to herself. It wasn't...too embarrassing, she supposed...it should be alright, if it's him...right?...
After only a moment's more deliberation she brought her hands around in front of her, holding her open palms for the Monkey King to see. Nestled into it was what appeared to be a petite bottle not unlike something children's candy would came in. Only instead of candy a small white lily was placed inside, emanating a warm and enchanting white light. At the center of it laid a little jewel, tiny orbs of light drifting about it. The sweet scent of caramel drifted out from her bottle while she had it exposed, giving a relaxing aura.
"This is...a treasure..." Naiyu whispered to the hanging simian. "...I wasn't...allowed to h-have lights on...when I was with...my mother...s-so when I found this, I was really...happy..." Her fingers rolled the bottle lightly as she smiled fondly towards it, the light growing brighter for just a moment along with the caramel scent. "...I can't really...s-sleep without it now..."
Suddenly she leaned down towards the champion, deep and burning gold gazing intently into his bright green orbs, made to look all the more intense by the light of the flickering fire behind them. "Y-You won't laugh, right?...t-this is a secret...!!"
Wu swung a little as he got a closer look, tilting his head curiously at what it could possibly be. She was so embarrassed about it, wasn't she? He gave her a reassuring smile and a small nod to follow as she pulled it free of its hiding place hidden within the palm of her hands.
When she revealed it to him, his eyebrows lifted slightly, nostrils flaring at the sudden scent on the air. He'd watch the little candy looking thing in her palms, allowing the wind to slightly sway him as he stared, "Huh!" He exclaimed with an intrigued air. It was pretty interesting what humans could create. Always so fascinating! He'd tilt his head, reaching his hand out to pat her on the head, "That's great!"
Hearing why she had it made his smile wane a bit. He didn't like how her Mother treated her. Not in the slightest! It made him all the more determined to protect her. "Naiyu." He said in a softer tone, "It's great. Hang onto the comfort it gives you. Even if you lose it somewhere along the line, just remember that it's you who has the strength, not the object you hold."
With that, he'd begin to swing a bit, quickly curling his body upward to grip the branch and draw himself back up atop it. He'd rest the blanket folded up beneath his head for a pillow, and grin cheerfully down to Naiyu, "I laugh at everything! But don't worry! Nobody will know, okay?" Wu would dig through his armor until he found the peach he had stashed away, glancing down at Naiyu before gently tossing it to her, "Eat, then sleep!" He said, drawing another one out and beginning to munch it.
It wouldn't take the monkey long as he stared through the branches at the blanket of stars above them, to begin drifting off. The peach core tossed away in hopes of another tree sprouting up where they camped for the night. As his eyes drifted closed, he'd take in a deep breath, and fell asleep.
Next Morning
Before Naiyu would wake, Wu would have gone off elsewhere to collect some things. Berries, some herbs, and rather funnily quite soaked of water as he tried to catch a fish for Naiyu. But he couldn't fish! Monkeys ate fruits and stuff, not fish! He failed at the task, but he had plenty of fruits and vegetables. When Naiyu would stir, Wukong would be knelt down in front of her with his face directly in front of her's. He'd softly tickle her nose with a stray feather he'd found while out gathering.

Naiyu held the thrown peach in her hand and smiled softly, feeling a little better about her tiny nightlight. "...Thank you..." came her little gratitude as she began nibbling into it and making her way back to her small sleeping spot. She watched the Monkey King curl up in the tree, tucking herself in as well after setting down her bottle next to her and tossing her own peach core. She didn't particularly do it to sprout a tree, only because she saw Wukong do so...
Sleep tugged at the small summoner as she eyed her little treasure bottle. The bottle itself held no ill memories, but the reason for it's exsistance...the fragments of past times waned in and out of her mind, a melancholy look settling on her face as her eyes lost focus for a while. If she didn't think...if she let her mind just wander...she could still hear the loud screeching of that horid woman's voice, berating her for every simple movement she made. To Naiyu it seemed like her very exsistance caused the woman unbearable annoyance and agony. No matter how hard she thought, she couldn't bring herself to understand why that could possibly be...she was her daughter, after all...why would she have been so crule to the fruit of her own loins?...
Smiling a bit as her consciousness began to fade, she realised she hadn't thought much of the estranged woman since meeting Wukong. It seemed like just being around the Monkey King inspired her thoughts to go to happier, lighter things. Maybe it was because he was a monkey...nobody can really be sad around monkeys, can they? With a final puff of air the golden eyed girl pulled her sheets to her nose and faded into her dreams.
Next Morning
It was strange enough for Naiyu to be greeted by the sun hitting her pale porcaline skin in the morning. It was even stranger that she felt rain pattering against her lightly. The strangest part was that something was determindly messing with her nose. What on earth?...she hadn't slept under the tree...what could it be?...
"Mmmn...puu...pfftt..." Thinking it to just be loose strands of her hair, she groggily lifted a hand and twirled her fingers about infront of her face. When the assault didn't stop she gave a soft whimper, slowly opening glazed over amber pools of sleep, only to stare straight into equally entrancing sharp hues of emerald. They could only belong to one person...but...
Why was he so close?! And wet?!?!
"N-NYAH?!?"
Shock and instinct seized her body all at once. Naiyu bolted straight up, all but throwing herself off the floor and into a sitting position-
Effectively slamming her face straight into his. Well...it was a new way to start the day, if anything...
Wu was crouched, shirtless, with his usual pants and boots on. He'd be balanced oh so precariously on the balls of his feet with one elbow resting across his knee and the other arm lifted to tickle Naiyu's nose. He didn't want to get his armor soaked, after all! The armor itself would be hanging on the branch he slept on, weighing it down a bit. Though it was a thick branch, so it didn't strain much.
As Naiyu stirred, the monkey grinned ever more cheekily watching her try to sweep the feather away. He thought it was both amusing and adorable how she was so bothered in her sleep by a tickling little feather. When she stirred, he leaned in a bit closer, only to feel her head impact his own.
Wu blinked once, then again as her head struck his stone hard skin. Hey, after all he was born from a rune stone! It would likely hurt her a bit more then him. Wu jerked back more from surprise then pain, rubbing his forehead a bit before quickly scooping up the bowl of fruits and veggies, "Breakfast!" He presented.
Chances are Naiyu would be effected by the hit and in response, Wu carefully lifted his furry hand to rest against her forehead, "heh.. Are you okay?" He asked, "Head of stone." He stated, pointing at his forehead.

"Aawuu....uuu..." Naiyu whimpered out, smoothing her lithe fingers over the bright red area aching under her touch. "Uuu...Wu...?"
Reality slowly came back into focus as she struggled to lock eyes with the champion. She'd woken up with a start, and...why did it hurt so much? As she thought somewhat painfully, the textbooks back at the Institute did give fair warning...as she recalled, Wukong's "passive" was called...Stone Skin...and he was born...from a giant stone Nexus, so...it would therefore make sense that hard-on collision with him would end in her getting a lot more pain than him.
Groaning lightly before looking down, she noted the bowl of food being held up to her, making her blink several times. Was he trying to walk her up to eat?...did he go off and gather this for her? Her cheeks flared a sweet pink, and she smiled towards him even if her head hurt lightly now. "...Oh...t-thank you...y-you didn't have to..."
At his touch to her irritated skin, she unconsciously let out a small mew, half lidding her eyes and turning a darker shade of red. His hands were still slightly wet and cool, so it felt good against her, making her lean into the feeling. She tried her best to smile at his voiced concern, "M-Mhm...I-I'm alright...I-I knew you were a s-stone monkey, but...I-I didn't think I'd confirm it l-like this...ehehehe..."
Wu grinned, "Yeah?" He questioned when she spoke his name. A little chuckle following quickly, holding the food out for her before lightly resting it within her hands, "Eat, eat!" He encouraged.
His hand slipped back from her with a cheeky smile, rising up before stretching out and stepping away to vigorously shake the water from his fur. As he'd stop, he'd carefully pat down the fluffy fur, smoothing it out before moving to collect his armor and slipping it back on. He'd reach his hand out, calling the staff to his grip before climbing up the edge of the mountain at Naiyu's back.
After reaching a certain point, he'd press the staff into the ground and climb it, gripping it carefully as it extended upward towards the sky giving him a good view of the mountainous pass they would either be climbing or flying across.
"There's a storm coming!" He called down, "Snow at the top. We'll have to walk it so we can get to a safe place if needed." The staff shrunk back down with the monkey bouncing off and landing near Naiyu with a heavy thump against the ground. As he turned, he'd lean over to see how much she'd eaten. He had by now already eaten as well, so the stone monkey would be more than ready to start off on their little journey.
He was patient, however. Young (maybe?), hyper, and unpredictable - but endlessly patient. Something Yi had taught him some time ago.

Naiyu watched the monkey move as she slowly picked at the food he'd given her. It wasn't too strange to her, as she'd normally eat a few local fruits and such while out collecting her little ingredients for her experiments. She never grew tired of it, though. There was something to be said about untouched, pure, from the earth food...
As he extended into the sky on his pole, Naiyu's mouth dropped open ever so slightly. Seeing him do such on the Fields of Justice was one thing, but seeing it in person was a whole new experience completely. The sheer heights he could reach...champions really were restricted on the Fields, after all. It made her appreciate the strengths they held all the more, and made her feel slightly inferior more than she already did next to the Monkey King.
When he informed her of the coming weather, her mouth twitched into a small frown of concern. More than likely they couldn't fly on the cloud in stormy weather, she was only just getting used to it during clear weather. At the very least she'd packed warmly...so she wouldn't freeze to death...maybe.
"W-We should probably be on our way now, t-then..." She muttered as she finished her bowl quickly, brushing herself down and trotting up to the Monkey King. "Do you...know the way?...I-I've never been this...far out before..."
Wukong's smile grew when she mentioned they ought to be going right away, nodding once in confirmation of the idea. Indeed now would be an ideal time, and he knew the storm was likely to hit within a few hours. At least they might make it to someplace with cover.
He'd adjust his armor a bit, ready to go immediately if that was in fact what she wished to do. "Do I know the way?" He asked with a lifted brow, laughing as if she were joking, "Of course! I've walked and flown across these mountains many ti--" Wu fell silent suddenly as his eyes darted about. His hand quickly would snake out, grabbing for Naiyu and beginning up the mountain at a quickened pace, "Stay close. Stay quiet." He said in whisper, keeping alert to the surrounding area around them.

A small gasp left the petite summoner as the Monkey King grasped her firmly and started up the path. Timidly she covered her mouth with her free hand, staring questioningly around them and to him as well. Did he see something? Were they being watched?...
Trying to keep her questions to herself was proving difficult. Of course she trusted him to know what to do for...whatever situation they were in, but not knowing herself what was happening was...frustrating, a tad. All she could do was grasp his hand firmly as she could and keep following. He would tell her if something happened...right?...
As she mulled over her thoughts in her head, she'd unconsciously quicken her pace, all but fusing herself with Wukong's shadow. This was going to be a long walk...
On the edge of the cliffs far up ahead, the looming gray of storm clouds would begin to make their appearance. It would seem as if their time had flown by quickly, and every step was one taken with extreme caution. They had reached a small lining of cliffs by mid-climb, noting the distant scent of rain starting to touch their noses. The sunlight had faded into the bloom of dense darkness up ahead looking more and more frightening as they went.
A glimmer in the clouds drew Wukong's attention as his grip upon Naiyu tightened just slightly, drawing her in closer. He'd wrap his arms around her as he chuckled, "Here we go!" He said, lifting her if she didn't fight him, before starting to race up the side of the mountain.
A howl upon the wind would cause his fur to rise slightly, but outwardly he seemed eager for whatever it was to arrive. He was utterly energized, and ready for anything that might come their way. He had a new responsibility, however, knowing that Naiyu would likely require his protection if things got messy. "Hang on, Naiyu!" As he spoke, he'd jump upon the top of his staff, letting it tilt towards the incline before it rocketed upward in length sending them much faster up the mountain face. What could possibly be going on that he'd put so much effort into getting them higher up?
Then it happened. A glimmer of black eyes pierced the clouds for just a moment, followed quickly by a roaring howl off in the distance. The cry of the ebony dragon obscured the shuffle of footsteps racing in behind Wukong and Naiyu, making it difficult to determine who, or how many. But Wukong could smell them. His keen monkey nose gave him knowledge of not only the dragon, but the humans that followed after the two.
Wu hopped off with Naiyu in his arms, quickly moving towards a shallow cave just off to the right, "Stay here, Summoner Naiyu." He said just as the rain would begin pouring down around him. There was a look in his eyes whispering his excitement. No fear, just pure adrenaline. Determination running deep within the very base of his being.

The darkening atmosphere did nothing to soothe Naiyu's nerves, all the more so that they were slowly gaining speed, the urgency in Wukong's steps making it hard for the girl to keep up. They had made good progress up the mountain, but she didn't know if that was a good thing in this current predicament...
The scent of plump rain clouds about to break made Naiyu glance up, catching a small glimmer in the clouds along with the Monkey King. She opened her mouth to question it, but was instantaneously silenced by him drawing her closer. Her face flared pink and she stared towards him, "W-Wha-" She stuttered, unable to protest as he easily heaved her up and quicken his pace even more so than she thought possible. Just what was making him hurry so much? Though...with this strangely ominous weather...she wasn't complaining at all...something did feel off...
At the break in the air caused by that booming howl, Naiyu unconsciously gasped and gripped her small fingers into his fur covered shoulders. That...was no mere gust of wind going through the mountains. Her face paled lightly and she bit her lower lip firmly. Of all the times for something like this to happened, it had to be while she was travelling?...
"H-Hang O-ON?!?!" Was the only response Naiyu could let out as she felt the very world pulled out from below her, her body bombarded by a strong gust of wind from the sheer speed and curve Wukong sent them flying with. It was a struggle for her just to keep her eyes open in all this hectic activity, her silver slivers of hair flailing wildly about her face, but she couldn't be less paranoid until she knew what was happening to make Wukong this excited...
And she got her answer. And nearly regretted wanting to know. Her very core shook with a sickening, nervous terror as the howl sounded again, accompanied this time by the concerning patter of feet trailing ever so closely behind the two. They were...being chased?!
The cover of the cave gave no comfort to Naiyu as Wukong dropped her off, only causing the small woman to give a whimper of disapproval. As if to amplify her nervousness the rain began letting loose all of its might upon them. This was nowhere near the time she would want to be alone. Instantly she voiced her protest, "Y-You can't!! It's d-dangerous out there...w-what if something happens to you?! I-I...I won't k-know..."
Wukong understood her concern as he looked upon her. He'd just smile reassuringly, "Stay here." He said again as the rain soaked through his fur, drenching him almost instantly. He'd swing the staff a bit, letting it roll across his shoulders before flipping down into his grip. As he turned, he'd chuckle lightly, glancing briefly back at Naiyu with an excited gleam in his eyes.
He didn't leave her view completely, just enough to keep her out of the view of the men that would appear just a small distance from the cave. Wukong watched as the group of five surrounded him. They looked scruffy with worn clothing and rusty weapons. It was pretty clear by their attire that they either lived in a caravan or were a unit of bandits that resided on the face of the mountain. Wukong didn't seem worried in the slightest as he laughed, "Is that all you got?" He questioned.
"Stupid primate!" One shouted, "You'd bring us a fortune with your pelt alone."
"Oh? Hehehehahahaa! So you know who I am?" Wukong questioned with an air of mirth.
"Y-Yeah!" Another one yelled, "You're --"
"The Greatest!" Wukong cut him off, "Wukong, the Monkey King! Equal to Heaven!"
The bandits reluctantly began to shift around him, "W-Wukong!?" One questioned, "Th-the Champion!?" Another asked.
"That's right!"
"W-well w-w-we aren't afraid!" Another said with clear fear in his voice.
Wu gave a jovial laugh as he pulled a bundle of peaches from his armor, "Here!" He said as the peaches immediately shot out around him towards the five men, setting them off balance. He'd dash towards one, using his nimbus strike to knock three off balance and down the long slope of the mountain, collecting three of the peaches as he did so. Another would come in behind him only to feel the back of his shirt grabbed, lifted and slammed down into the ground by the real Wukong. The two would look at each other and grin before the clone disappeared.
One left, he turned to him with a glimmer in his eyes, stamping his foot down to startle the man and send him screaming as he ran away. However unknown to Wu, it wasn't so much the monkey that startled him but the beast that loomed behind him.
The ebony dragon.
Wu blinked and turned, looking directly into the dragon's fierce gaze. "Hiya!" Wukong said gingerly.
Another danger lurked however. A shadow from the back of the shallow cave crept closer to Naiyu's back, silent, and completely obscured in shadows. Thin fingers crept forward, suddenly latching around Naiyu's mouth to keep her silenced as it tried to drag her quickly further back into the cave.

The jovial Monkey King was off before Naiyu could hope to utter an argument, leaving her to only whimper and stare after him with worry. It...should be alright, right? He was the Monkey King, after all...right?...
As the vagabond group of rough and ragged men made themselves visible, Naiyu inched closer to keep some form of view over them all. Noticing the champion's placement of himself, she followed his example and kept herself from view, pressing snugly into the cold stone of the cave's wall. She felt oddly silly, being this worried for a well known and well skilled champion like this, but for some reason she couldn't help herself at all about her feelings. Over the short time she'd known this happy-go-lucky primate she'd come to gain affections for him she could only describe as that foreign thing called "friendship"...
At least, that's what she thought it was. She'd...never really known before.
The worry slowly drained from her, though, as she watched him dispatch the grimy men with the utmost ease, a wry huff of laughter leaving her at his employment of his trademark peaches. Of course, she had nothing to worry about! The twirl of his staff and the rhythm of his body told her all too well that he had more than enough skill to back up his new overwhelming confidence. She could probably learn a thing of two from him, really. It seemed like everything was under control...
Until that thing showed up.
With a start, Naiyu scrambled lightly to get up, hoping to make her way out to him. She'd been told to stay here, but still...that was a menacing looking dragon...maybe if she helped...
Her thoughts were cut horribly short by the feel of cold, clammy fingers slamming harshly into her lips, muffling the shrill scream that erupted from her throat. She'd let her guard down far too much to put up a strong fight, and found herself dragged halfway into the darkness of the cave before her heels found any barrings in the dirt. Tossing and turning, struggling every which way she knew how, she managed to rip herself from the grasp of whatever had seized her, trading her freedom for large scratches along the side of her face. The dark assaulter lashed out, rending the back of her top as she dropped on all fours with a scream, pushing herself to run back to the cave's entrance. Blindly she'd throw her hands out behind her, pummeling orb after orb of energy in an attempt to hinder whatever it was that was after her. She nearly made it out of the cave, had the thing not seized her ankle all too conveniently.
A painful howl left the girl as she slammed into the wet floor, the wind knocked out of her lungs momentarily. She was in trouble, she was panicking, she wasn't thinking straight at all. She did think of one thing, though. She could...but if she did, she might distract him...she didn't want to put him in more danger too...but if she didn't...she might die...
...die?
Naiyu's mouth dropped open instantly at the thought. She didn't know what this attacker was. She didn't know it's intentions. But the way things were going...she could very well be about to die. No more reading. No more studies. No more people. No more Wukong.
She dug her nails as far into the soil as they'd go, screaming at the top of her lungs.
An ear twitch. At first small as Wukong stared up at the unmoving beast returning his gaze. A second twitch. Something was wrong. He felt the fur on his body stand slightly on end, before he'd appear to wave and dash off down the mountain.
At the entrance of the cave, Wukong uncloaked and rushed forward with his staff at the ready, "NAIYU!" He called, feeling a sense of worry touch the normally calm and jovial simian. As he raced forward, he could see the scratch marks against the floor of the cave and quickly followed after them deeper into a cave he once thought to be shallow and unexplored.
Naiyu would find herself pulled deeper into its darkness as the cold fingers gripped and jagged nails threatened to pierce the skin where it gripped. Dark eyes, seeming as if the irises themselves were as black as the wide pupils, stared upon Naiyu's form. The smells in the air grew ever more musky, reaching a near point of choking as the humidity thickened causing a strange fog to form.
From what little Naiyu might have gathered, the 'creature' appeared to be human. Its skin almost gray save for where the orbs had struck its form, shredding its shirt at the front and leaving behind deep looking, circular welts. As the being stopped, it would reach down for Naiyu's hair to force her to her feet before slamming her forward against the wall. A sharp sensation soon following the motion as a crudely made knife pressed towards the back of her neck with the intention of killing her in one swift cut.
