15 July, 23 CLE
The Maven smiles as she wanders through the marketplace in Ionia, carrying a neatly-woven basket of fresh eggs and vegetables. It'll be her birthday soon, and while she's no use for cooking, she's always been one to buy her own ingredients.
Some of the vendors live near their stalls, and she looks over the curious little eggplants in one of their gardens- they look just like their namesake before they ripen; little white eggs growing on a vine. The merchant smiles, and tucks an unknown flower into the musician's hair, its bright red standing out against the sky-blue strands.
Before long, she reaches a center square, and sits down with her purchases, looking over her notepad. She'd only spent 70 Ryos on her entire basket, which was heartening, given the financial insecurities she'd feared upon returning here.
All I need to find now is some good flour, and a bag of sugar... but I should bring these home, first; I'm getting tired. Looking over the basket, she takes out a bottle of lychee tea, and decides to drink it before heading home.
Yoshi wanders through the market, holding Teo with his hand as the two shop to buy the little boy new and better clothes. The market where it sells all the clothes isn't far. Yoshi kneels down to Teo and points to the clothing store, holding a sack of money in front of Teo's face.
"Okay Teo. While I gather foods and other things, I want you to shop for clothes. You got me?"
The little yordle takes the pouch, pursing his lips. He'd thought they'd shop for his new clothes together, but it seems this wouldn't be the case. Shopping was an idea that had been somewhat foreign to him, though he'd seen people exchange gold for products occasionally in Bandle. Perhaps it would be the same around these parts. Reluctantly, Teo nods.
"Okay. I'll be there when you get back probably."
After giving Yoshi a quick hug goodbye, the young bard ties the money pouch to his waist, replacing it with his flute. He clutches the instrument nervously and moves in the direction of the clothing stall.
With his current attire, Teo probably stood out like a sore thumb. His ragged cloth clothing and dried plant adornments were somewhat of an eyesore in this sea of chromatic clothing worn by the Ionian people. It didn't take long for the yordle to become distracted, but he still manages to arrive at the stall in due time.
Stopping about twenty feet from the first rack of clothes, Teo steps to the side and clutches his flute nervously. What if they don't have anything in his size? What if they don't allow him to purchase anything because of how poorly dressed he is? What if the other customers laughed at him? The what-ifs just kept coming, making the young yordle's fur bristle in fear and he starts to step backwards. The task of buying new clothes on his own is far more daunting than he'd expected. Maybe he'll just wait for Yoshi to come back with the groceries.

From the square, Sona looks out over the crowd in the market, then blinks at her basket, realizing she'd forgotten strawberries. I won't be able to have the cake without them. A voiceless sigh escapes her before she picks it up again, the woven handle smooth against her calloused palm, and heads back into the crowd, sealing the bottle of tea with her free hand.
Her interaction with the vendor is brief and polite, and on the way back, she sees a small, somewhat raggedy figure. They look lost, and rather spooked by the crowd milling around them... perhaps she'd better not try to have a conversation with them. It looks as though a Champion of the League might only cause them further anxiety, so she hangs back, wondering if they're waiting for someone.
I haven't seen those plants around Ionia- and the proportions suggest a Yordle. Maybe that's why they're so shy? Sympathy sparks in the Maven's heart, but she pauses, not wanting to provoke the little one's panic.
Teo timidly sits himself down on the side of the road, choosing to wait for Yoshi's return. It's an embarrassment, but even so the little yordle can't bring himself to try and shop on his own. In a sad attempt to boost some spirits and pass the time, he taps his flute on his lips a few time before lifting it into position and playing a little tune for all to hear.
But Yoshi isn't listening to Teo's soothing tune. Instead he's arguing with another customer who wants the same fish. And the two are arguing with a local fish merchant who's trying to reclaim the last fish.
"I bought it!" Yoshi retorts. "I have the fish!"
"I reserved it, yordle!" The rich customer fires back. "I get the fish!"
"I caught the fish, you imbeciles!" The fish merchant retorts. "I own the fish!"
Hopefully someone in the area can soothe the little yordle playing the flute since the conductor is clashing with two other people.
Sona's eyes sparkle with enjoyment at the tune that the yordle plays, and, despite her previous judgement, she decides to step up to him, placing her basket by his side and taking her seat on the sidewalk. Her smile is broad and warm as the tune ends, and she writes out a short note.
'That was quite a lovely song- but you look somewhat lost here. Are you alright?' The Maven feels no need to introduce herself, given how well she's known. Her good will is nearly palpable as she passes the page over, her head only an inch below the Yordle's in height.
The little yordle had his eyes closed while playing, lost in his music. He doesn't even notice the woman until shortly after he is done playing. Teo stares at her in slight fear, shivering but not noticeably. The League was something nearly foreign to him, and he certainly wouldn't recognize a champion. Soon, however, the woman's kind gesture leads him to taking the note and reading it, easing his tension only a little.
"O-oh, um... I'm fine. My teacher sent me here to buy new clothes, b-but... I... I'm kind of scared..."
His voice trails off and he turns his head in the direction of the clothing stall, biting his lower lip. Yoshi may not be happy if he returns and Teo still has not even looked through the clothing available.
Meanwhile, Yoshi, the rich customer, and the fish merchant continue to struggle for a fish that apparently has value because each of them says so.
"Since when knowing Karma has to do anything with fish!?" Yoshi's eyes flare at the rich customer.
"My fish!" The rich customer cries out.
The fish slips out of their hands and plops right into Sona's face. The three couldn't believe that they threw the fish at the Maven. An exaggerated Yoshi wants suicide after this.

Sona is about to offer to go to the booth with Teo, starting to write on a new piece of paper, when a rather large fish lands with a wet thunk against her face.
'If you'd like, I'll go wi'
The rest of the sentence is halted by the ignoble plop of the fish on her notepad, and she grits her teeth, trying not to show too much anger. It was clearly an accident, though the rich customer rubbed her entirely the wrong way with his possessiveness of a single fish.
Coming from a noble family, I'm hardly in a place to comment... but I hate the entitlement that some families seem to hold. And this smells awful... Her nose wrinkles slightly.
(( Note for reference, just so I confuse no-one: 'writing' versus thoughts. ^^ ))
Teo winces when Sona his hit with a sickening splat. Some fish slime even splatters onto his face and shirt, but that is of no concern to him. Opening his eyes again, the little yordle gasps and rips off his hood, holding it out for the woman to take and clean herself. It may be ragged, but at least he cleaned it often and the material would be good for wiping.
"Here! Y-you can wipe it off with this... I don't need it."
He glances down at the fish, somewhat disgusted. Where did it even come from?
In an attempt to make a getaway from an angry Maven, Yoshi rushes to where Teo is at and is about to tug his hand. He immediately retracts his hand from Teo's when Yoshi sees Sona towering above him. While the rich customer and the fish merchant continue to verbally fire at each other, Yoshi picks up the fish and then looks up to Sona, his expression somewhat nervous and embarrassed.
"Uhh... Teo... so I'm guessing that you met the Maven already. Sona, Teo. Teo, Sona."

The Blind Monk wandered aimlessly throughout the market, the overwhelming array of scents making it harder for him to navigate even with echolocation; as well as increasing his own amount of hunger.
He did not realize he had gotten sidetracked so much on his journey back to the Shojin Monastery, and his provisions had run quite low. He started losing focus and grown dizzy the past few days, relying on his inner healing to keep him from feeling anything major until he could finally get some food. He did want anything major; perhaps some vegetables and a small fish. Right now, he held 5 silvers in his hand which should be enough to buy all he wanted and be on his merry way back on the road, but the overwhelming smells and aromas continued to drive him in different directions, and the bustling of the crowds did not help his navigation among what appeared to be the same stalls over and over again.
Maybe it's time for a different approach... He stopped and stood still, allowing his ears to do work. He tried to search for the sound of someone shouting out sales for what he was searching for, but instead he was drawn to a light tune among the hustle of the market. He stepped forward, making his way forward blindly (ha).
When he started making his way towards Teo, the tune suddenly stopped. The vibrations of the ground told Lee Sin a woman huddled nearby the little yordle, though it did not exactly provide him with any details due to the immense amount of people all around The Monk. With nothing else to go on, he almost stood there foolishly, unaware of what anything was in his current state of hunger and confusion.
Teo gasps and his ear perk up in Yoshi's direction when he speaks. His master had caught him by surprise, and once again he felt guilt creeping into his gut. There's no doubt he'd get a scolding for not even having entered the stall yet. With his hood still outstretched for the maiden to take, he turns his head to the larger yordle, nervously putting a knuckle up to his lip.
"Ooh, H-hi Yoshi..." he responds timidly. Then the maestro continues on about a Maven named Sona. Could this be the woman next to him? He didn't know anyone of the sort, so why is Yoshi acting as though he would? He turns to her again, appearing fairly confused, still holding a knuckle to his lips.

'A maven is someone who knows something very well- they call me the Maven of the Strings because of my Etwahl, the stringed instrument I play. I am a champion of the League, and yes, my name is Sona.' The note is written in somewhat compressed letters, indicative of the annoyance she's holding back for the sake of the shy, musical Yordle. For a moment, she seems uncertain what to do with the hood she's been given, but she wipes some of the fish's scales and slime from her face before bending down and doing the same for Teo.
'Are you two here together, then? If you're having trouble with that fish merchant, I'm sure I could show you a better one.' With the scales cleaned from her face, Sona begins to feel a little better about the whole thing, though the smell still lingers around them somewhat. She passes this note to Yoshi, her demeanor kind.
((Very sorry about the delay; my computer's broken, and so I haven't had very regular access to the internet.))
