Name: Aatrox
Alias: The Darkin Blade
Class: Melee, Fighter
Race: Darkin
Age: Very, very old. At least 1006.
Occupation: The initiation, partaking, and continuation of war
Residence: Undisclosed
Alignment: Depends on your point of view, but Chaotic Evil.
Abilities:
Passive: Blood Well: Aatrox draws in all the blood that surrounds and contacts him, adding it to the Blood Well. He can control this blood, emptying it out of his sword as well as using it to strengthen the blade. Passively, the more blood there is within, the more ferocious his attacks; however, when he is defeated, it is drawn out into his body, leaving him temporarily invulnerable and, afterwards, in fighting condition. The ability to revive him takes a lot out of him, though, and the blade cannot revive him for several days at the least.
Q: Dark Flight: Aatrox is capable of flight at incredible speeds, although over a distance, he glides slowly and silently. One of his favorite attacks involves flying up and dive bombing his foe, knocking them into the air with direct contact.
W: Blood Thirst/Blood Price: Aatrox can either tap into the blood pool to regenerate his vitality when enough blood has been drawn into it (about every three attacks) or use his own blood to enhance the power of his sword (only once every three attacks so he does little permanent damage). He can do either of these as he pleases.
E: Blades of Torment: Aatrox can release the energy of his blade in a cone in front of him, slicing through unprotected flesh without hinderance. The lingering energy affects the strength of the targets, leaving them crippled for a short time.
R: Massacre: His ultimate ability, Massacre instantly draws in the blood of those standing nearby. This blood empowers his blade, causing it to stretch out (almost like a whip) and his attacks to come at insane speeds. His own physical form grows larger, striking fear as well as pain into his foes.
Mimickry: Aatrox has an ability to mimic the voices of people he's heard before, or formulate a unique voice that convinces people that they can recognize it. However, when they can directly see him, his mimicking powers diminish.
Aura of Anger: Aatrox exudes an aura that causes those nearby to be easier to throw into anger. While the stalwart can shake off the effects without too much difficulty, anyone who is already relatively angry or weak-willed can be thrown into a rage without too much effort. Making eye contact with him empowers this ability, allowing him to throw almost anyone into a fit of rage.
HOWEVER, Aatrox's Aura affects him as well on a lesser level. If he himself loses control over his rage, he loses all conscious thought, as well as his aura, but his gaze gains far more potency, and is thrown into a fit of rage himself. Also, the aura has no effect if the targets cannot see Aatrox.
Relationships:
Tryndamere: In his mind, the greatest creation he has ever made. By slaughtering his tribe, he let loose the eternal anger inside of him, making him not only an unstoppable force, but Aatrox's perfect idea of a worthy foe.
Pantheon: While they don't know each other outside of the fields of justice, Aatrox respects the Rakkor in general and Pantheon in particular for their attempts and relative success in the perfection of war.
Irelia: Aatrox simultaneously despises and is intrigued by her, frustrated by her attempts to keep peace in Ionia but fascinated by her ability to stand alone against a Noxian army and win. By attacking a village close to her heart under the guise of a Silverfang, he wishes to incite civil war in Ionia, with her leading the charge at the front lines.
Swain: While he realizes that Swain does agree with him on one point - war is essential - he thinks Swain's entirely tactical approach is a misguided attempt at the process.
Description:
Aatrox is tall, and very much so, towering over most mortals. His body is covered in black, almost scaly, armor, which is chaotic and terrifying in appearance. His blade is almost as tall as a man, and very wide, yet he wields it with one hand. His skin is pale and slightly blue, stretched tight over his bones, and his eyes are large, glow red, and incite terror among those who are weak of heart.
However, to those he 'saves,' he appears as a white angelic being, who causes bravery in the most frail and pathetic man. His blue gaze peers through a golden and pearly helmet, and his sword is far more polished.
Aatrox revels in but one thing: war. He cares not in the end who wins or loses. He cares only that both sides give their all. However, he has a soft spot for the underdog; those who are weak, few in number, and outmatched will more often receive his assistance. He is vocal on his opinions on war, and will not hesitate to make them heard, even if it means making an 'example' of a few mortals.
In speech, he is often polite at first when a conversation starts, but at insult or threat, he quickly shifts to threats and angry words. While he prefers to slaughter those before him, if you have earned his respect through feats in war, he will hear you out, even if he won't listen.
Few have dared to befriend him, in either terms of peace or war. He doesn't dare speak of any who succeeded. If you are talking to him at all, consider yourself lucky to be alive, and don't waste the opportunity.
Lore:
Aatrox is a legendary warrior, one of only five that remain of an ancient race known as the Darkin. He wields his massive blade with grace and poise, slicing through legions in a style that is hypnotic to behold. With each foe felled, Aatrox's seemingly living blade drinks in their blood, empowering him and fueling his brutal, elegant campaign of slaughter.
The earliest tale of Aatrox is as old as recorded history. It tells of a war between two great factions remembered only as the Protectorate and the Magelords. Over time, the Magelords won a series of crushing victories, leaving them on the brink of obliterating their sworn enemy forever. On the day of their final confrontation, the Protectorate army found themselves outnumbered, exhausted, and poorly equipped. They braced for inevitable defeat.
Just when all hope seemed lost, Aatrox appeared among the ranks of the Protectorate. With but a few words, he urged the soldiers to fight to the last before throwing himself into battle. His presence inspired the desperate warriors. At first, they could only watch in awe as this unknown hero cleaved through their enemies, his body and blade moving in unison as if one being. Soon, the warriors found themselves imbued with a potent thirst for battle. They followed Aatrox into the fray, each fighting with the furious strength of ten until they had won a most unlikely victory.
Aatrox vanished after that battle, but the Protectorate army's newfound fury did not. Their surprising triumph led to many more until they were able to finally return home victorious. Their countrymen hailed them as heroes, but though they had saved their entire civilization from destruction, darkness lingered in the mind of each warrior. Something within them had changed. Over time, their memories of battle faded, only to be replaced with a grim revelation: their acts of heroism were, in fact, brutal atrocities committed by their own hands.
Tales like these appear among the myths of many cultures. If they are all to be believed, Aatrox's presence has changed the course of some of the most important wars in history. Though these stories remember him as a savior in dark times, Aatrox's true legacy may be a world filled with conflict and strife.
"Some fight for honor, some fight for glory. It matters only that you fight."
