March 5th, CLE; One day after the repulsion of the Voidlings.
In the wake of the Void invasion, the Freljord itself lay in shambles. An ominous purple glow emanated from the corrupted mountain peak, casting desperate shadows over the land. Though the glow had begun to fade from its original intensity, the mountain seemed to whisper promises of doom and defeat to all who tried to rest their weary bodies. Soldiers trudged wearily across the battlefield, seeking any who might yet live. Blood and void ichor mingled into a sickening morass that stained deep into the snows of the Freljord clinging tightly to the stiffening bodies of man and beast alike.
Despite the chaos in the wake of a great battle, the summoners of the league fought their inner demons in the relative comfort of a winter’s claw tent. Between forcing the voidlings from Runeterra as a whole and sealing the Void portals to prevent their re-entry to this plane, the small team of summoners had saved the Freljord with their spectacular display of power, though few could yet comprehend the costs of such an act. None had yet seen fit to disturb what modicum of rest they might find through a mixture of gratitude, respect, and fear of the great power they wielded. Yet with the signs of death and destruction looming for all to see, it was only a matter of time before the delegates of the league would be called upon once more.

Vera stood outside the tent among a small group of activists and researchers. Sun graced the peaks after their night-long battle, almost ironic in the relative warmth it brought to the frozen valley. But behind one mountain, the tallest of the range, the sunlight seemed to recede as though held back by some atrocious aura. Vera shuddered. The top of the mountain was completely black, writhing as though alive. A part of her yearned to be at her Sensei's side while he recovered, but Hildebrand Runeblood would survive, and after consultation with the leader of this land, Champion Sejuani, the young summoner and her colleagues would set about the task of ensuring Freljord did as well.
She bit her lip as she awaited the warrior princess; chapped skin burned beneath her teeth, but served to remind her that she, too, was still alive. And so were those around her. And so was her teacher. A shaky inhalation of frigid air steeled her. The League could not fail the Freljord--and as long as she was alive, she would give her all to keep it from failing.

Sejuani approached the young summoner, still armored though without her weapon and her trusted mount. The woman looked strong yet and refused to allow any inch of weakness or fatigue to seep in. She had sustained minimal injury during the course of the battle but it did not change the matter that she had been working almost without sleep to aid those within their walls. Her people needed her yet and she could not afford rest until the situation had been handled. The crater still held the remains of the creature she did battle with though she and the rest of her people had doubts as if to whether or not it was truly dead. Leona had been gravely injured as had another one of the summoners; one who had gone to great lengths to stop the invasion.
The woman before her was a fragile young Ionian who shook in the cold. Or was it from injury or fear? If not for their efforts she would not have thought much of her on first glance. Ionia was very different from the northern lands. “I was directed to you. Before we begin discussion, do you need anything that my tribe can provide to you directly?” She was gruff, but not unfriendly as she looked upon her with steely, cold eyes. It would do her little good if the young woman fell apart mid discussion.

Vera bowed low in a show of respect to the Winter's Claw warrior princess. Firmly grounded in her Ionian roots, she meant to display her utter devotion to the task they were prepared to undertake. "Princess Sejuani." Dainty hands pressed together before her chest as she lowered her head in greeting. "Any capable unwounded scouts will help us to..." The young woman swallowed; her words tasted bitter on her tongue. "...recover the dead."
She straightened and looked the taller woman in the face, her expression steeled, but sorrowful, as though to illustrate her humble recognition of the situation's gravity. "Any climbing equipment you can provide us will expedite our mission up the mountain... We must assess the damage done." Wide brown eyes wandered over to the blackened peak. Vera shivered again--though not from the cold.

The customs were a sign of respect. She knew that much, despite how foreign they were. She stood tall; her face was ice as she contemplated the following words.
"That mountain is treacherous to climb. We can offer you what equipment we have but it is the largest peak in my territory. They targeted it with purpose. But to what end for this, I cannot say." She knew not what the complications of the tainted peak was. Her eyes set upon the defiled mountain and the sky above it.
"My scouts are already being prepared for it. After which we will attempt to identify the bodies. They will be burned. I do not know what the Void can do with the dead, only that it cannot be good.
