Deep within the Institute's Artificer wing is a thick brass door, riddled with cogs and bolts to ensure it can never accidentally open, and a single. To the right of the door is a golden plate bolted to the wall alongside a lightbulb and a doorbell.
Nulla Draconis Head Artificer
Safety goggles and protective gear required when the light is on
The room behind the door is rather large. Iron shelves cover every wall, filled with small parts, gizmos and various ingredients; all perfectly tidy following a rather strange arrangement system, unique to the artificer and well known inside the institute for being overly complex.
Several brass tables with chairs are scattered across the bureau, packed with unfinished projects and scattered parts. In one of the corners of the room was an ebony desk, holding stacks of papers that would seem filled with gibberish to anyone not versed in the arts of artificing.
Summoner Draconis could be found here most of the time, either working on one of his projects or preparing the required paperwork for his next one.

Quiet steps echoed in the hall as Vera Lorian made her way towards the artificer's office, a small packaged clutched to her chest. She was pleased to see that "the light" was not on, and therefore her elder-friend may be available for a visit. Even if it were brief, his steadfast way served to bring her peace of mind. In line with Ionian tradition, Vera always paid her elders extra respect and listened carefully to their words. This particular elder's advice held even more weight to her than others'--and she would likely be needing it.
It was dinner time at the Institute. Most of the summoners were either retiring to their chambers, fraternizing in the commons or finishing up their meals in the mess hall. The young Ionian woman smiled softly at the corridor's silence. Calm and quiet was a stark contrast to the bustle of recent weeks.
Drawing nigh the heavily protected door, she raised a dainty fist, the other still pressed over the small package at her chest, and knocked four times in quick succession.

The click of a cane against the Institute's marble floors faintly echoed from inside the room, drawing closer to the door. As soon as it had stopped, the cogs on it whirred and the gates slowly parted open, revealing an elder artificer that rubbed his face in a sleepy haze. His weary expression quickly vanished as he recognized his visitor, a smile lightening up in his face. Vera! One his arms stretched, pointing into the room with an open hand. Please, come in and make yourself at home.
Vera's smile matched his own, brightly shining with genuine joy. "Sofu!" she exclaimed, bowing deeply at the waist before stepping across the threshold into his office. She removed her slippers, as is polite in Ionian culture and turned to him, extending her package.
The baggie contained assorted tea bags imported from Ionia, green and white and black, all grown with the tender devotion of tea farmers in her homeland. She bowed her head again as she held it out. It was part of a care package sent by her parents, but if there is one fact about tea that holds true, it is that it is most delicious when shared between friends. "I brought a gift! I hoped maybe you had a few moments to spare to enjoy it with me..?" She smiled sweetly again.

The elder carefully grabbed the bag. But of course!, he said, returning the smile. He hurried to his desk, putting all his blueprints and papers aside and pulling out a chair for her. He then sat down on his chair and rummaged around his drawers, pulling out a small brass teapot and filling it with water. With a touch of his can, the pot started to hum softly, heating up.
Well, it has been a while since we last chatted. Tell me, child, how have you been?

"Oh, I've been well," Vera said softly, tugging at the bell-sleeves that fell down over her graceful hands. She hesitated for a moment, wondering how deep her initial comments should be. With the world in chaos, this place--cluttered as it was--seemed a sanctuary against the heavier events whispered about within the Institute's walls, against the eerie stillness that followed two invasions and the loss of a nation from League jurisdiction.
The girl's bare feet padded softly across wooden floors as she made her way to the table. Graceful hands rested on the back of her chair. She would not take her seat until her elder had done so. Finally, she opted for the lightest news that came to her. A light pink blush tinged her cheeks. The man had always treated her well, given her advice, in many senses been a grandfather figure to her: kind and wise and comforting. She was not certain how he would receive her news, the real reason she'd come, the bursting feeling in her heart she couldn't quite explain.
A soft smile twinkled in her eyes. "I've met someone I think I really like." She pressed her lips together, awaiting his reaction to her breathless statement.

The elder's lips curved into a giddy smile. Ah, my little Vera has finally fallen for someone?" He gazed at the assorted bags, his slender fingers fluttered above them, undecided as to which one to pick. After finally choosing one of the many, Nulla carefully brought opened and placed a few leaves within the kettle. His feeble frame leaned forward, green orbs meeting Vera's once more. An eyebrow rose inquisitively as his tongue clicked. I wonder... who could it be? Hmm...

The corners of the Ionian's mouth turned up into a bashful smile. She hesitated a moment, tucking a strand of her long, dark hair behind her ear before she answered, "I think you must know him, Sofu."
She gave a quiet giggle, as though half embarrassed and half afloat on the giddiness of her infatuation. "He is a steward. A very good one, too." A sweet, involuntary sigh passed her lips before she half-whispered, "His name is Ethan," rocking back on her heels with a smile.

Nulla couldn't help but chuckle. Of course I do, dear. I've seen how you look at him... and I'm probably not the only one! His fingers rummaged across the drawers once more, pulling out two small brass tea cups along with two matching plates this time. He slid one of them to Vera and placed the other in front of himself before carefully serving the tea. Truth be told, I'm quite happy for you. You seem a lot more vivid and cheerful lately!
