South-east of Noxus upon the coast of the Guardian Sea, the great Wall built around Noxus towered in the distance, an intimidating sight for most. Yet the Dark Summoner-Knight's gaze was focused out to sea as he stood upon a cliff overlooking the ocean. Though the wind howled around him and the waves crashed violently below, he seemed to be completely at ease upon the edge of the cliff as he waited for the Spider queen to arrive.
Recently, Azazel had openly betrayed the Ruined King in front of Demacia, The Shadow Isles and even the Institute of War. The pieces were falling into place, the strings were being attached, soon it would simply be a matter of pulling them. The Spider Queen would be interesting, should she truly side with him she would be an extremely useful ally. Should she side against him, it would be interesting to see if she can really play the game.
Cyan eyes closed as the summoner began to sort out his thoughts.

Elise was overly cautious as she made her way to the meeting place. One of the spiders that had found him in Demacia had informed her about the meeting here on the outskirts of Noxus and she couldn't help but curious as to what he had to say. It wasn't until the aftermath of the peace talks that she truly understood the position she had placed herself in. So many ways she could be discovered. So many potential pitfalls that she could fall and there was little doubt in her mind that if she made a mistake she would be destroyed. She was between the unbridled power of the Ruined king, the powerful city-state of Noxus and the wildcard that was Azazel. She had been questioning her decision to add another thread to her weave since he disappeared with Belle. But even now she couldn't decide what the motivation really was. He did intrigue her. The potential to strike back at the king was another reason as well. But just those two reasons weren't reason enough to risk herself so completely. She couldn't put her finger on it but she had done it none the less. It didn't matter now though. It was far to late to change her mind.
He came within view and she approached quietly but not quite enough that he wouldn't hear the approach. She didn't want to startle him and get a blast of magic for her trouble. She didn't really know how powerful he was but could guess that he was powerful and to underestimate him would be foolish. While she was a mage herself she knew she wasn't in the same league as Azazel. Thankfully she had other talents to make up for it if things didn't turn out the way she expected. Though the fact that he was undead would make things very difficult for her like it was whenever she had a disagreement with most of the denizens of the Shadow Isles. She was very much looked down on for her interesting undead status and inability to defend herself properly against the undead.
"That was quite the exit you made Azazel. You should have seen the king. I have never seen him quite so angry at anyone ever as he was at you. I am surprised you still walk Valorian. I was sure he would have killed you with his anger alone. So do tell, what has possessed you to go against the king in such an open and extreme way?"
Azazel smirked as he looked out upon the ocean, not turning when he heard the Spider Queen's voice, it was like music to his ears. She had chosen his side, or so it seemed. He knew very little about her, other than she had been played by the spider god and the Ruined King and that she was pretty much immortal. Of course he would be cautious about allying with her, but she would make a great ally and over time they would dance the dance of trust and manipulation. Breaking those who believed themselves higher and superior, dragging them down and crushing them beneath their heels. But first, there were other things that needed to be put into place.
Azazel pulled back his hood, the long fair black hair was released into the wind, whipping about the pale skinned face like tendrils of shadows. The Dark Summoner-Knight turned to face Elise, black lips smiling and piercing cyan eyes glinting with amusement, "The King has been far to emotional of late... Falling for the Demacian princess and even now growing attached to the half-dragon general. It will be interesting to see how that plays out, she is still bound to the lich, Karthus, after all. What possessed me? The king's incompetence, I can gain no more power from the Isles, it's useless to me."
Azazel began to walk from the edge of the cliff, drawing closer to Elise as his black robes rippled in the wind, "The King is not all powerful, but, I am curious dear Spider Queen." He paused briefly, his eyes studied her intently while he continued to speak, "Placing yourself at my side is an extremely dangerous place to be, what would push you to come here?"

Elise looked back at the dark summoner with her own long black hair whipping around her in the wind. She had to admit he had quite the presence about him. She hadn't noticed it on the isles and could only use the excuse that next to the king it had been dulled. But here and now she found him to be quite a promising ally. Even if the risk of joining him was everything she was or could be.
She returned his smile and cyan gaze with her own scarlet one until his words made her smile slip momentarily and her hands clench before she forced calm back on herself. "I hope they both find a painful death before this is all over. I am not accustomed to being overlooked so completely and I find that I do not like it, not at all. She couldn't help the instinctive flinch at his words regarding the king. It was still so hard to think of anyone verbalizing words against him despite her recent moves against him. "Gained all you can from the Isles? Are you truly as powerful as you say?" She couldn't help the disbelief in her voice. She had seen the kings power and just couldn't conceive that this man could come close to his strength.
As Azazel approached her she posed seductively out of habit and instinct. Her midnight black hair seemed to caress her pale skin, the strip of red in the shape of an hourglass calling attention to her nature. "He may not be 'all' powerful but he seems more then powerful enough for his needs. I have yet to see anyone fare more then moments against him.
At his next words she wanted to look away, to come up with a plausible lie. Something about his gaze caused her to keep his gaze and do something very much unlike her. She spoke the truth. "I hate him. I hate what he did to me. How he could take everything I knew to be true and made it a joke with me the butt of it. If that wasn't enough he stole my self worth and pride by overlooking me for a human girl and a half dragon abomination and was made to simply swallow all this because I was to weak to do anything about it. I haven't felt weak since I was a child on the streets of Noxus. I..I would rather die then continue to be this mockery of myself. I can't continue to be what he has made me. I can't." She continued to look at him. Waiting for him to laugh. To gouge out another piece of her blackened and rotted heart.
Azazel's eyes studied the spider woman as her agitation crossed her form, taking note of the clenching of her fist for the briefest of moments. The Dark Summoner nodded, "If painful deaths are what you wish for them, then it will be what they shall receive when their time comes." When Azazel spoke his voice was cold and devoid of emotion, both the princess and the half-dragon meant nothing to him and he would dispose of them without a second thought, maybe not by Azazel's hand, but they would be removed eventually. When she questioned his power he almost laughed out of amusement, "The Ruined King would never allow someone to reach his level of power. Simply look at what happened to Mordekaiser, trapped in his own armor to suppress the power he has. I will not let that happen to me." He looked her dead in the eyes, as if daring her to question it, "I am as powerful as I need to be."
He looked away to the side and frowned, "He is still growing in power too. His sleep drained him and now as we speak he is still gathering souls in order to replenish his strength. Even at this level of power upon the isles, he is a god." Azazel raised a pale and and studied it before glancing at the giant walls that surrounded Noxus in the distance, "Power, does not equal intellect. Swain himself proved that against the last man to stand against him if the articles in the Journal of Justice are correct."
The summoner's gaze moved away from Noxus and shifted toward the Spider Queen as she bared the truth of how she felt about The Ruined King, he listened with a calm expression. Simply listening to what she had to say and not judging her for feeling weak. Weakness, and the feeling that came with it is what drove Azazel to ally with the Shadow Isles in the first place, use it for his own needs gain all the power he could so he would never feel weakness again. But... Of late, The Ruined King had been led astray by a human woman, that alone showed weakness and Azazel would NEVER serve one who was weak. Azazel's voice sounded quietly, "It is The Ruined King that is the weak one, not you, not I. But him. Raw power is not everything Elise, together you and I could control the city-states like our own personal marionettes. They will dance to OUR dance, and they will break when WE decide. The invasion of Demacia by the Shadow Isles has opened many possibilities to toy with. The city-states are scared, unsure of the unknown..."

As she listened to his words she couldn't help but grin for a moment. She hated them for making her feel lesser. What did they have that she didn't. How could the king prefer them to her? It was just another thing that he had taken from her. Her self confidence as a woman. If he could prefer those two over her then she couldn't be as attractive. Was she starting to look ugly? She didn't think so but she didn't remember the last time she had looked in a mirror.
He became very serious or seemed to be anyway when he spoke next. He seemed to have his own vanity but in a different way. "Yes, the king doesn't like anyone to gain power. I believe that you are as powerful as you need to be but didn't the king try to keep your power dampened so you would never be a threat like he did with Mord?".
She looked at Azazel not bothering to hide the shiver that went up her spine. "Even more powerful still? I shudder to think what he will be capable of when he reaches his peak of power. Are we certain this is the best coarse of action? To oppose him?"
She was to late to hide her surprise and interest when he mentioned Swain. She wasn't sure if she should mention her ties to Swain and the Rose. Maybe he hadn't noticed her slip. If he hadn't noticed she would let him know if he needed to, or keep it as a card up her sleeve. "Yes, the story of Swain is one that tells of how anything is possible if you have the power, intelligence and ambition to achieve it."
She was quite surprised that Azazel didn't mock her for her perceived weakness. Or was he mearly playing with her emotions. She wasn't sure. She didn't know enough about him to get a read on his emotions. She had little doubt that he would try to play her pawn his board. But as long as she knew that she could survive and try to use him the same way. Still, she felt different about him then any other SI resident. Or all of Runeterra if she thought about it.
Azazel's positive outlook on there future that it seemed to be infectious. Elise herself was feeling better about her choice to side with him. There would be plenty of danger but the thought of coming out from under the kings heel and crushing the kingdoms under hers was a very happy thought.
Azazel simply smirked when she asked if he had his power dampened, "My power has only been enhanced while I have spent time upon the Isles. I have given the King no reason to dampen my strength. But, I felt it would be wise to leave before he noticed that I could become a threat. Now I bet he wishes he had seen it sooner so that he could have reduced my strength in some way." The dark summoner's smirk faded, The King's power would easily overcome his own should he ever be found by an agent loyal to the isles. For now he was simply on the run, yet he was confident enough that he was never looking over his shoulder. The king was powerful, but a fool. Should anyone ever come close to matching Mordekaiser's power before he was bound to his armor, no doubt the King would grow afraid of being betrayed and find a way to deal with them too.
The Dark Summoner's eyes met with Elise's when she began to question if it was wise to oppose The Ruined King or not, "To ally with him would bring about our own downfall, the King may have the power to crush nations. But he does not have the intellect to rule. If he does conquer his old kingdom, then what? The mortals will not kneel before an undead king. They will oppose him, they will reject, fear and hate him. He bring about his own downfall."
His eyes stayed locked onto hers as she failed to hide the surprise and interest at Swain's name. Azazel's piercing gaze narrowed, suspicious of her reaction to the mention of the Master Tactician. What did it mean? Was she frightened of Swain? Did the two have some kind of history together? Perhaps he was simply over thinking her reaction. For now he would not question it, but it certainly made him that much more cautious about the Spider Queen.

"I see...you seem to have known the precise time to make your exit, and in quite a dramatic way. I must say I am impressed. I don't think I could have mustered courage to anger the king, Demacia and the league all at once. I do hope you know what your doing for both our sakes now that I have thrown my lot in with you."
As Azazel spoke of what happened to the Master of Metal she grimaced. "Yes, I must say I forced myself to bow and courtesy more once I saw what happened to Morde. The thought that the king could simply make him less. To kill is one thing...but make one who is strong, weak. That is terrifying."
Elise thought on Azazel's words while she met his gaze. She couldn't help but smile seductively. This was more attention then she had received from anyone that wasn't on the menu in quite awhile. That and she couldn't help but feel drawn to the Dark Summoner. She wasn't sure what it was but something about him appealed to her greatly. She would have to be very careful that her emotions didn't cloud her logic. "I'm not sure if thinking him unintelligent would be wise. I think in his own way he is quite smart. But his arrogant and overconfident, yes very much so. But you are right about what would happen if he claimed his land. The humans would not allow it. Even a cowardly nation would do everything they could knowing that the undead would not content themselves to what they held. They know that while the king lives nobody in Runeterra is safe.
Staying so long in the shadow isles had made her rusty in the game of politics and manipulation. She had made such a silly mistake as to let herself react to talk of Swain. While he didn't mention it she was sure he knew something was up. It left her with only two choices, both with risks and possible rewards. She could let him know what was going on with Swain to gain more of Azazel's trust and an ally in thinking of ways to make it work to there benefit. The other option was she could not say anything. It would put doubts in his mind and if and when it came to light it could cause even more problems. Of coarse if she told him it would give him another axe to hold over her head. But she really had put all her eggs in this basket. If they failed or were caught she was already dead. In light of that the decision was an easy one.
"I suppose the cats out of the bag. I really have become slow at this game. I must get better or I will really start to embarrass myself. What are your thoughts on the Master Tactician and the Rose? I have some history with him and with them. I have obviously kept it close to the chest considering how the king feels about them."
Azazel drank in the image of the Spider Queen smiling at him, her soft features pulling at something he had believed long since dead, it was... Interesting. Just like Elise herself, but, his thoughts were occupied by other things right now.
Azazel's face instantly became a mask of impassiveness as she told the Dark Summoner of Swain and the Rose, he kept himself from speaking as he pondered just what she would have to do with Swain and The Black Rose themselves, "All I know of the Rose is that they are a shadowy organization from long ago, once the Ruined King's advisors during his reign as King while he was alive. It is said upon the Isles, that they betrayed him, orchestrated his death through unknown means, how they done it exactly is a secret that even the Ruined King would not part with the knowledge, the leader of them, was his wife. She is the one who betrayed him, she is the one that drove him to tear out his very own soul and cut it in two before binding himself to the living plan."
He paused and studied her, "What, may I ask, do you have to do with Swain and The Black Rose?" suspicion flickered in his eyes, Azazel made no attempt to hide that he was skeptical, this would be the moment where she could either cement her position by his side by telling him, or remain at arms length should she keep it to herself.
