Kog'Maw followed Malzahar, running in circles around him all the way in excitement, wondering where they would go and what food he would get to eat. At the sight of the portal, Kog'Maw leaped through it before Malzahar was even done talking, immediately turning to the left and chasing a bird he spotted.
The atmospheric pressure change as Malzahar glided through the rift was almost enough to make him ill. He hovered in the air between the trees, his eyes adjusting to the jungle's spotty sun and exotic colors, one gloved hand against the trunk of a nearby Kapok. The Prophet's glowing gaze followed Kog'Maw as the grub gallivanted around, clearly excited by the sights and sounds of their surroundings. The wings of butterflies and birds were a vivid contrast to the hazy nightmare nothingness of the Void.
Malzahar clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth in weary observation of the spawn. He needed to rest. It needed to feast--but surely it could catch its own food here. Slowly, warily, the Prophet levitated to sit upon a branch, to lean against the trunk, legs dangling over the flora and fauna, and briefly closed his eyes.

Kog'Maw continued his chase of the bird that eluded him. It landed on a branch after a few minutes of chasing itw, finally Kog'Maw had his chance to catch his prey....though he did not notice Malzahar also relaxing on the same branch. He leaped up at the branch, biting down onto the branch, and shaking it a bit. He saw the bird fly away, and whined as he tried to pull his mouth off the branch.
The branch cracked farther down at the base of it where Malzahar was as Kog'Maw released his grip on the branch and fell to the ground. As he landed, he heard the branch crack again but ignored it to run off and pursue the bird.

The prophet's eyes shot open as he shook. He affixed the grub with a scathing look, gliding towards the earth as his branch seat cracked and fell. The Mouth of the Abyss was already skittering off through the jungle, but Malzahar maintained his reservations. "Kog'Maw," he hissed. "Do not stray." The beasts that might have stirred as bough met forest floor growled in Malzahar's subconscious. This was a dangerous place, for all its exotic beauty--even for them.
"We will rest here before we make our trek to the next mark." Even if the grub paid him no mind, he spoke to the nothing, to the trees, to the air, to the very essence of Runeterra. "Ionia."
Eyes alight with fervor scanned the forest floor, seeking out signs of life beneath the foliage. "Eat of the insects and serpents hiding hither, little beast. You will have more fulfilling prey in the islands... of the East."

Kog'Maw continued chasing the bird, seemingly completely ignoring Malzahar, though the bird escaped into the sky, and Kog'Maw had no wings. He gave up and turned to look at a tree behind Malzahar with some low hanging fruit. Desiring the fruit more than bugs and snakes, he ran towards the tree, and chanted "Void will win! Void will win!" as he ran past Malzahar to eat some of the fruit.
It seemed Kog'Maw was listening after all. He got a little carried away while eating, and ate part of a tree branch. After he finished eating, Kog'Maw ran quickly back to Malzahar, not seeming tired at all from the earlier battle and running around looking for food.

Malzahar closed his eyes, crossed his legs and sat in mid air in some mockery of meditation, the purple glow of void energies beneath him, keeping him afloat. "Ionia, yes. Let the north be frozen solid. Let the dead rise again to walk the world. Let the flames of Vengeance burn this land to cinders. Nothing matters. We have seen how even Death will die."
He hovered in silence a moment, resting, before the panting of the void pup disturbed him from his would-be slumber. Gradually, he opened one eye to find Kog'Maw standing before him, staring expectantly. "What."

"No, Kog'Maw. Not to Ionia yet. Preemptive motion you'll regret," Malzahar hissed. "We must wait for the stage to be set. Patience..." Slender fingers drummed over the prophet's bicep as he pondered, glowing eyes darting left and right over their exotic surroundings. "For now, you will hunt. You will feed and grow. You will require all of your strength for the invasion. You will fight. We will watch you."

Kog'Maw nodded and did as instructed, running off into the forest to find food. Though he went out of view to Malzahar, his footsteps and rustling could be heard, showing he was not very far away.

There was something off in the jungle. As she prowled through the high branches of the dense trees in her cougar form Nidalee could see the creatures fleeing. To the untrained eye they might've been invisible, so expertly blended into the jungle's brush, but for Nidalee it was a veritable stampede in the wrong direction. Very little else would merit such action from so many creatures at once. Certainly nothing natural shy of a volcanic eruption, and given the lack of ash or smoke in the air she could easily conclude that was not the case.
She shifted into her human form and made her way through the trees, listening to the spirits of the jungle as they frenzied. Something was definitely wrong, and as she got closer she could feel the alien presence. It wasn't even human. This fact was verified as she saw the League's youngest voidling charging through the jungle below her as she moved. What was a voidling doing this far south?
She easily found Malzahar where he patiently awaited his young friend, and with spear in hand she made her way quickly down from the high branches, leaping from tree to tree, until she was crouched just above him. "What brings you here, Prophet?" she demanded, voice dripping with hostility. She rarely liked seeing people in her jungle, let alone a dangerous force such as the void.
//ooc: hope this is okay. malzahar invited me along once my application was accepted. :)

The Prophet whirled around, his gaze drawn upward by the sudden sound of Nidalee's address. To indicate his irritation at being startled, he inhaled with a sharp hiss as the jungle air passed through his teeth. His glowing eyes affixed upon the huntress. "We are resting," came his guarded response, his ominous voice echoing through the foliage. He floated backwards from the tree, arms folded over his chest, that he might keep her lithe form in full view. "We are weary."

Kog'Maw noticed Nidalee and Malzahar speaking, despite seemingly being distracted, and stopped chasing the forest critters to make his way back to Mazlahar. He stopped not too far away from them but concealed by bushes, waiting in case Malzahar would signal him to attack.

The reasoning was sound, at least in the most basic of terms: people rested when they were weary. However it did not seem to be the whole story, at least not to Nidalee's instincts, and she had long since learned to trust her honed instincts when they spoke up. Why were they resting here? Disrupting the natural order of the jungle with the unnatural beast that was Kog'Maw. Especially when the Shurima Desert, and their precious Icathia, lay to the north. More importantly, why were they this far south to begin with.
Nidalee's pose remained guarded, in a low crouch and ready to move. She didn't trust the prophet, nor his little pet. "This is not a place for voidlings to rest," she said sharply, making sure nothing in her tone suggested anything but irritation and hostility. "Leave."

Another hiss, this time more pronounced and purposeful, passed through the prophet's teeth. It was a noise to match her own tones of hostility, a noise any cat would understand. "We will leave when we have rested," he protested. "The voidling is hungry. It will hunt and it will rest, then we will take it from your..." Malzahar paused as though searching for the word. "Sanctuary."
Surely that was what this wildwood was to her, though to him it was all the same. It would all be Void soon enough.

Kog'Maw, seeing that Nidalee was not an immediate threat, stepped out of hiding and ran off to continue searching for food. Though he kept close to the area so that he could come to aid Malzahar if need be.
