Summary:
Jarvan IV is the Crown Prince of Demacia, first in line to take the throne after his father King Jarvan III. Raised and trained solely in the tenants and beliefs of his country, his character exemplifies the Demacian standard of honorable conduct. A soldier and a diplomat, Jarvan hs been groomed for succession but is most comfortable on the battlefield.
Equiptment:
Weapons:
Thrymmaatos, The Earth Shattered: A royal heirloom and weapon of Kings, Thrymmaatos is an finely wrought and heavily enchanted Lance, capable of puncturing armor and extending to 1.5 times its normal length. An ancient weapon from before the rune wars, it is forged of an unknown metal, ever sharp and
Standard Spear: A normal spear, sometimes capped with a streamer of Demacian colors, with a great balance and a sharp point.
Armor:
Raiment of Wilds: A set of plate armor made specifically for the Prince, The Raiment of Wilds is crafted and enchanted steel, with an advanced protection against magic attacks. The helm, or crown of the set, is enchanted against untoward influence upon the mind of the future king. The gauntlets have been imbued with a magnetic quality towards Thrymmaatos, allowing Jarvan IV to activate their enchantment and pull the lance into his hand from less than four yards away, if it is not lodged in something or tied down in some way. It also affords him an impeccable grip on the weapon. The greaves are just that, plate defensive boots. Tough but light, the set affords protection while allowing the movement required for Jarvan IV's deadly and acrobatic martial style.
Abilites:
Dragon Strike:
An attack named by the Demacian people after its known use, while lunging Jarvan extends his lance, punching through defenses and harpooning his target with deadly effect. If barbed or hooked by the tines of Thrymmaatos, Jarvan IV can pull lighter targets back to himself, while heavier or immobile targets can be used to accelerate himself towards.
Golden Aegis:
The signature genetic inheritance of the Lightshield line of Kings, this shield is summoned from the princes own body, a action of will rather than a trained skill. The sheild stops arcane projectiles and physical blows with a surface of glowing magic as it bursts outwards in a shower of shocking light. It has the unique characteristic of growing in strength based on the need of the user, but is nowhere near as strong as Kayles sheild, and much more quickly exhausted.
Righteous aim:
Jarvan IV is an expert spear thrower, and is skilled in using polearms, halberds, and other long handled weapons. When he goes to battle he carries with him a set of throwing spears, which he propels with unnerving range and accuracy.
Cataclysm:
Jarvan's weapon, Thrymmaatos, has another use. Wrought into the weapon is a destructive spell. When used in a downward thrust or feint, the lance spears its target to the ground, extending outward and unleashing a devastating arcane force into the earth which creates a crater several feet wide with walls rising seven feet tall. This force is affected by three gems set into its shaft, and the depth with which they are pressed into the earth. This force is especially deadly to large beasts, the destructive influence of the spell wrenching and cavitating flesh. On small targets it is much less, spilling out into the air ineffectually.
Biography:
When Jarvan IV turned twelve, the sheltered existence his mother had wrapped him in was ended. His education continued in the Demacian tradition, and his tutelage under King Jarvan III began. It was combat that drew him in, the tales of glory and heroics of his childhood filled his hopes. He learned to fight, and with the help of his instructor Xin Zhao, how to win. He became a soldier, not yet a general. His education in military command went unfinished, in favor of what Jarvan IV reveled in. In a skirmish between Demacia and Noxian forces, emboldened by his own skills, Jarvan IV advanced his soldiers into an obvious trap. He was captured, tortured, and cursed by Swain and Leblanc during his captivity. Prepared for execution, Jarvan IV looked up at the headsman's Ax, sutured to none other than the disfigured and leathery Urgot. The dauntless vanguard, led by Champion Garen, stormed the execution and saved Jarvan IV. Garen attacked, ending Urgots mortal life, and bringing the Prince back to Demacia.
Shamed by his failure and haunted by fear, Jarvan IV set out on a journey that would be his judgement. He set out alone to throw himself against larger and more dangerous beasts, a punishment for his weakness, and a trial by fire. Unplanned, he was followed by a few loyal men. He felt unworthy to lead them, and yet he could not send them away. They refused. Nearly two years later, their band returned to Demacia. Of the twelve soldiers who had departed with him, only two returned.
Jarvan IV became a champion of the League of Legends, fighting and representing his nation on the Fields of Justice. In central Valoran, north of Mogron pass, a discovery was made. Mineral rich earth of immense value along with two Nexus Crystals was located in a place called Kalamanda. This land was contested by Noxus and Demacia, and their competing interests escalated to the point of all out war. It was said that Jarvan IV struck the first blow, attacking Jericho Swain on his normal patrol of the Noxian encampment, and igniting a full out battle between the two factions. The League intervened. With the support of Champion Zilean and the sacrifice of a Nexus Crystal, they were able to stop time for both armies, and defuse the situation.
In the aftermath of the Kalamanda incident, General Jericho Swain seized power in Noxus. A conclusion to the power vaccum created when the current leader, Grand General Boram Darkwill was assasinated. Another leadership figure, General Du Courteau went missing beforehand, leaving Swain to seize power by defeating his rival, Kieran Darkwill in a duel to the death. In an effort to discover the whereabouts of Du Courteau, the investigative travels of league champion Katarina led her to Demacia, where she was able to track down a secret stash of documents hidden away by her father, the General himself. With the help and coordination of Jarvan IV, and under the protection of Garen Crownguard and the Dauntless Vanguard, the group was able to uncover a conspiracy involving events that escalated tensions between Demacia and Noxus, resulting in The League's required intervention. Implicated in the deceipt was one of the cheif editors of an Institute news publication, The Journal of Justice. The Journal was subsequently shut down, and despite their temporary alliance, Katarina returned to being an enemy of Noxus.
