Teo sniffles and rubs his eyes even after they've been wiped dry. Despite the fact that he's old enough to be an adult, the young yordle still has a very child-like mentality. He takes the new message from Sona with both hands and reads it slowly, blushing and blinking several times. The words astonish him a little, and he's too embarrassed to look up at her. "M-mastered? Um... well I haven't really mastered any instruments... I just taught myself how to play them. There weren't very many fun things to do at the orphanage, but every weekend I could go to the nice man next store and learn about a new instrument if I wanted. He even let me play it if he had it. But uh... a lot of the time he just taught me stuff on the flute."
Once the three start walking again, the boy turns to Yoshi. "Um... Master Yoshi... I'm sorry for not getting the clothes before... I... got too scared. Maybe we can go together after dinner?"
Yoshi breathes out a short gasp of air, then a little chuckle as he forgot to get Teo dressed. How could he forget that? Maybe it might be that League champion and musician that has the two hyped up to meet.
To get Teo new clothes is still Yoshi's priority. However, meeting and possibly befriending the famed maestro is an opportunity that cannot be missed. He politely reassures to Teo.
"We can worry about that, Teo. Right now, I want you to meet one of Valoran's famed maestros and learn from her."
Sona and the two Yordles find themselves on the receiving end of a few strange looks as they wend their way through the streets to dinner. The waitstaff are nothing if not polite, however, which is almost certainly influenced by the Maven's status as a champion. She's cheerful, and full of questions for the boy; her writing is punctuated by gently tapping fingers as her pencil skims across the page.
'Even if you haven't mastered them, such competency with more than one is still very impressive.' She beams at Teo, with the air of an encouraging tutor. Having noticed his sadness, she hopes to help him forget it, soon- whatever it is. Sona hates seeing anyone in pain, whether it be physical or emotional.
Teo glances around nervously, still not used to being in large crowds. At least, not in crowds he's unfamiliar with. He presses lightly against his master nervously for some comfort and watches Sona's writing closely. When she's finished, he timidly takes the note and reads it to the best of his abilities.
"Um... thanks... there wasn't much to do at the orphanage, so I spent a lot of time playing over at the neighbor's house. He was really nice. A lot nicer than some of the other kids... They picked on me for always going over there alone, and staying by myself most of the time, but I didn't mind too much..."
((I didn't know that you started a new thread already. .-.))
To encourage Teo's mood, Yoshi gently rubbed the back of Teo's head to give him comfort.
"Well he must find your music very soothing, Teo," he complemented. But to him, it's disheartening that no one loved him much. As he continued to gently rub Teo's back head, he wondered how long will the three wait till they get the food. Or at least the tables. He doesn't know what kind of restaurant is this.

'I hope that he was kind to you- your music must have been a lovely gift. When did you make it out of the orphanage?' Her eyebrows are knit together with concern at the young Yordle's past plights as she passes him the short message. A waiter arrives shortly, and leads them to a table for three out on the balcony. It's a warm evening, and the gentle music surrounds them as three Ionians play on violin.
Their orders are taken for drinks and appetizers, and the waiter vanishes into the crowd, soon to return. While they wait, Sona asks a question, this time to Yoshi.
'What is the situation between you and Teo? Are you his teacher; do you house him? He seems to love and admire you very much, and he needs someone like that in his life.' It's clear that she's already grown something of an attachment for the young musician.
Teo takes the message, though before he has a chance to read it the waiter takes them to their seats. He follows rather close behind Yoshi, taking a seat next to him as well. Once seated, the young yordles eyes scan the paper slowly, his lips pursing. For a short while he remains silent, thinking. Without warning he finally speaks, though his voice is still rather quiet.
"I was... seventeen when they had to close the orphanage. I learned my real name and... everything about my past that day. S-so... I couldn't stay in the city... I ran to the forest where I could try to practice my music and magic... f-for my... parents."
Yoshi slightly nodded in agreement. He opens his mouth slightly, ready to speak when he lost his choice of words. He contemplated about his memory with Teo, how the two met and how poor he is. His lips pursed at that thought.
"I just found him I the forest, Sona. I'm his... unofficial guardian. He had no parents to begin with and barely ate. Only breakfast and no dinner..."

Sona pauses, setting her pencil on the notepad. For a long time, she doesn't write a word, her usual gaiety gone from her demeanor. After this consideration, she sets her hand on Teo's shoulder and smiles, a gesture of as much comfort as she can offer without her Etwahl. She maintains eye contact with the young musician for as long as seems appropriate before turning to Yoshi, removing her hand and writing out an invitation.
"If he wishes to learn magic and music, then, forgive me, but I may be the best teacher for him. Would you be willing to let him come under my tutelage? I have the food to feed him, and the will to educate." Her smile is as genuine as her words as she holds the paper up, letting the both of them read.
He never thought of leaving Teo in the hands of another. Yes, she is a prominent musician. Yes, she's a champion of the league and may protect him in case he gets into some trouble. But somehow he doesn't want to let him go. It's been months since Yoshi has been taking care of Teo and he felt a strong bond with him. He doesn't want to just leave him...
And yet saying "no" won't let Teo exercise his music talent. If he said "no", he'd be holding him back. A slight sigh of hesitation came out of his mouth. Maybe the best way is to let Teo decide.
"Teo. What do you think? Are you willing to let Sona teach you music?"
Teo meets Sona's gaze then she gives him warm contact. He's a little afraid at first, but her kind expression quickly melts away the fear and he looks back with relaxed eyes. He continues looking even after she turns away to write, though his gaze shifts to his master when the note is passed.
When presented with the question, the young yordle catches his breath, glancing between Sona and Yoshi a few times. On the one hand he'd grown very fond of the older musician and his kind ways, as though he'd had a real father again. He doesn't want to give that up, yet at the same time Ionia is is birthplace. He's always wanted to come back, learn what's become of his parents, and perhaps live on in their footsteps. Though it'd hurt to leave Yoshi, becoming Sona's pupil could bring many opportunities his way. An opportunity like this probably wouldn't come again...
Teo turns to Yoshi and wraps him in a tight embrace, tears welling up in his eyes. "M-m-...mast-...dad... I-I love you, dad... I'll be g-good for miss Sona, I'll work hard... I-I'll miss you..." These are the only words he can utter before the tears leak out and he bites his lower lip, burying his face in Yoshi's shoulder.
He quickly hugged his younger maestro back, and harder than ever before. He couldn't afford to let him go. Months of teaching music, housing him, taking care of him grew more than just a master - apprentice relationship. He felt that he's giving up his own son. He tried to hold back his tears, thinking all the times they spent together. It'll hurt leaving Teo, but he'll be killing him if Yoshi doesn't let him go.
"Look... you have to go with Sona... She can teach you better music!... You're better off- I'll miss you..." His voice trails off as he hugged him tighter, a slight tear rolled from his eyes, but he hid it from Sona so that she can't see him crying. "S-Sona... I'll send him all of his belongings..."

'Of course, you'll be able to see each other,' writes the Maven, clearly touched by the scene. Those sky-blue eyes have misted over, and her smile is beatific. 'The Institute provides enough for me to bring Teo to Bandle City, if ever he misses you.' Sona can see the tears on both of their faces, but she doesn't mention it. It's only reasonable; she hadn't known that their relationship ran so deep, but now that she does, their tears are all the more moving to her.
'This is the address for my residence in Ionia,' she writes to Yoshi, her expression gentle as she puts it down. 'As he will be my student, Teo may send as many letters to you as he likes- it seems a regular correspondence would benefit you both. We may discuss matters of cost later, of course.'
It would be indelicate to discuss them with Teo here, is the unwritten portion of her statement.
Her hands are restless without her Etwahl beneath them.
After reading the notes and nodding to Sona understanding what she wrote, a small smile of solace formed from his lips and he gently separates himself from Teo and wiped it dry.
"Teo. I'm really going to miss you... You're like the son I never had and together; We make great symphonies with each other. And... in the future, you'll become a better musician than me..."
A small breath escaped from his mouth as Yoshi gathered his thoughts together.
"But you can never be a better musician than me or Sona unless you become happy and brave. Now come on, Teo... where's that smile of yours?"
Teo doesn't read the letter right away, too busy silently crying into Yoshi's shoulder. It's been a long time since he'd broken down like this in front of master Yoshi, but he can't help it. Yoshi's words help him think more positively, though, and the tears stop when his master wipes his eyes. It doesn't show well, but ever so slightly the corners of his lips turn up at the request. "I-I'm sorry... for making you work so hard. B-but now I'll work extra hard for Miss Sona, and... and I'll write a song for you a-and come back to play it. I... I-I'll miss you too, dad..."
His eyes dampen again as he turns to Sona, biting his lower lip. It takes him a moment to think of the right words to say, but eventually he's able to get them out. "Thank you, Miss Sona. I promise I w-won't try to be a burden. I promise. Erm... uh... d...d-do you know many other yordles that live around here?"

(( I am so, so sorry for the delay on this- but I've gotten a new computer, so it shan't happen again. ))
'I don't think you could be, Teo.' She smiles kindly, sky-blue eyes still moist at the unexpected scene. 'In Ionia, there are some yordles- and in Demacia, there are more. We'll be traveling some, due to the League's scheduling for me, but I'll be able to take you with me wherever I need to go.'
Silently, she's planning out the notes for this new little life. She hadn't expected such a farewell; her only expectation was that they would talk about Teo's experience and potential- but this would be no imposition. As a champion, there were many resources that Sona could find access to for the orphan.
Teo sniffles and rubs his eyes with one hand in order to read the next note. His expression doesn't change much, the multitude of thoughts going on in his mind making it difficult to feel anything. There were just too many questions to be asked. "I haven't met a lot of yordles before... w-well, I haven't met a lot of people in general. Er, but, I'll try not to get in the way. I'm a good listener! And I-I'm really excited to learn from you, Miss Sona."
The little yordle looks up to give Sona a warm smile, his eyes showing both excitement and nervousness. After a moment he turns back to Yoshi, the smile faltering, and he gives his old master another hug. "I'll never forget what you taught me, dad. L-like how to play my flute better, o-or how to cook, or how to take a shower..."
