Name: Syndra
Alias: The Dark Sovereign
Race: Human
Residence: The Celestial Fortress, Ionia
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Abilities
Transcendent (Innate)
Syndra’s power grows gradually as the years pass.
Gravity Manipulation (Innate)
Syndra has extreme control over forces of gravity. She is able to levitate the Celestial Palace throughout the whole day, without being seemingly affected. She is also able to levitate herself and other objects, although unpredictable and quick objects are significantly harder for her to manipulate.
Q: Dark Sphere
Syndra conjures a Dark Sphere at a target location. There is a very brief delay (half second) before the sphere materializes and deals its damage. It lasts for 6 seconds, and can be manipulated by Syndra’s other abilities. Syndra can create multiple spheres quickly, but can only focus on creating one at a time.
W: Force of Will
Syndra grasps a dark sphere or an object for 5 seconds. If a dark sphere is grabbed, its duration is refreshed. Syndra can then hurl or levitate the object at a target area, slowing and damaging enemies in the area. Syndra prefers to grasp her Dark Spheres; living objects that she grabs have to be moving in a moderately predictable manner, and must not teleport/move extreme distances unexpectedly for her to be able to manipulate them.
E: Scatter the Weak
Syndra knocks all objects (including Dark Spheres) outwards from her. Dark Spheres travel especially fast, and stun enemies if they collide.
R: Unleashed Power
Draws upon Syndra’s cataclysmic power, harnessing all Dark Spheres to batter and smash her target per sphere. She will always be able to use at least the three spheres orbiting her.
Relationships
Karma – Syndra despises all Elders, and Karma is no exception. Being the paragon of Ionia, Syndra sees her as the ultimate epitome of all that is wrong with Ionia.
Irelia – Irelia has the Mantle of Decorum, yet another symbol of Ionia that Syndra hates. She believes Irelia is too blinded by the Elders and is a lost cause and is certain Irelia will stand against her. Syndra thinks if she were to meet Irelia, defeating her with prove she has surpassed the Elders and their flunkies.
Zed – Syndra sees the Order of the Shadow as a possible way to bring her goal of destroying the Elders to realization. There has been whispers of a friendship between the two in the past, but neither have been particularly available to refute such claims.
Daichi - An Ionian summoner with a dark past, involving Zed. The Dark Sovereign is on friendly terms, but cautious, for being allies with Daichi will do her no favors.
Background
Born with immense magical potential, Syndra loves nothing more than exercising the incredible power at her command. With each passing day, her mastery of magical force grows more potent and devastating. Refusing any notion of balance or restraint, Syndra wants only to retain control of her power, even if it means annihilating the authorities that seek to stop her.
Throughout her youth in Ionia, Syndra's reckless use of magic terrified the elders of her village. They took her to a remote temple, leaving her in the care of an old mage. To Syndra's delight, the mage explained that the temple was a school -- a place where she could develop her talents under his guidance. Though she learned much during her time there, Syndra no longer felt her power growing as it had in her youth. Her frustration grew, and she finally confronted her mentor, demanding an explanation. He revealed that he had dampened Syndra's magic, hoping to help her learn control and restraint. Accusing him of betrayal, she advanced on the mage, commanding him to lift the spell that was holding her back. He backed away, telling her that if she couldn't control herself, he would be forced to nullify Syndra's magic completely.
Furious, she summoned her power and dashed the old man against the walls. With her mentor dead, Syndra felt the rush of her unbounded potential for the first time in years. Though she had won her freedom, she refused to return to the society that had tried to steal her gift. Instead, Syndra decided to claim her former prison as a stronghold. Pushing the boundaries of her magic, she tore the structure from its foundations and raised it into the sky. Free to delve further into her art, Syndra now aims to grow powerful enough to destroy the weak, foolish leaders of Ionia -- and anyone else who would dare shackle her greatness.
League Judgement
OBSERVATION
Her feet never touch the ground. Syndra glides effortlessly through the air towards the marble doors of the Great Hall. Syndra looks warily around the hallway. She can feel the aura of power in the air. It is everywhere. She clenches her hands imperceptivity. Three spheres orbit her, almost hypnotically. She brushes her silver hair aside. There is an inscription on the doors but she ignores it, raising a hand confidently. The spheres converge onto the marble doors and nudge them open. They quiver slightly, and return to her again, resuming their serene trajectory around her. Syndra gives no sign of her hesitance. She is above fear. She enters.
REFLECTION
The air is now brimming with power. Syndra blinks. The room is dark; where was this wretched interviewer? Then she realizes something…this power. It is her power. Syndra looks around, and she is back in the castle, sitting on a chair, regarding her mentor’s dead body. The moment she looks and acknowledges his death, she feels his dampening spell lift. She raises a hand, and laughs. She feels the sudden influx of power surging through her body and she gasps in joy. It is amazing. After fantasizing about it every day, she realizes that she had been doing it no justice.
‘Thank you, mentor!’ she laughs, ‘by dampening my powers, you opened my eyes to the treachery of Ionia and its Elders. No longer shall I be restrained by such scum.’ Her eyes snap to the corpse. It stares back at her; its eyes were too alive for a corpse.
She freezes, searching for an explanation. Then one comes. She lifts a hand, and levitates the dead body and brings it closer. ‘How bemusing,’ she chides. ‘I applaud you. This illusion intoxicated me. Your power is strong indeed. Now, will I have to talk to the carcass of my backstabbing mentor—or will you face me?
Her dead mentor’s lips moves. ‘Why do you want to join the League, Syndra?’
‘My country is blind to the deceit of the Elders. They will corrupt and destroy Ionia. I want to expose them and all that stand with them for the frauds they are. For the pitiful swamp scum they truly are.’ Syndra replies, eyes narrowing, voice swelling in passion.
‘There are many Ionian representatives in the League. However, your dispute with them does not surmount the purpose of the League of Legends.’ The body replies, lips curving slightly.
Syndra laughs. ‘Of course,’ she mocks. ‘they refuse to face me, but they will be forced to on the Fields of Justice.’
Her mentor remains still for a while. Then in a different voice, it speaks. ‘Welcome to the League, Syndra. How did it feel exposing your mind?’
Syndra laughs again, flinging the limp body to the ground. ‘It reaffirms everything I have stood for.’ she declares, watching as the castle interior disappeared, replaced with the antechamber of the Institute. The doors ahead flies wide open, a pathway to the League.
