Elise walked silently towards the meeting room. She was not in any hurry to meet with Swain tonight. While she felt a certain pull towards seeing him again and making sure he was well, he had seemed very ill last time she saw him. The fact that she was coming here still injured from the meeting with Yorick and more importantly the fact that she had been found out and could no longer spy for Swain was not good. Not good at all. She didn't know him like she once had. She didn't know what his response would be. It had hurt her pride a great deal that she had failed but her mind raced at what Swain might do. Would he send her away? Where would she go then? She would go with Azazel. But she didn't like being reliant on anyone for her security. Especially a man.
Upon entering the city the spiders she had left in the area had been quite vocal in there view that something major had happened. They couldn't tell what it was however. The wards around the important area's had been quite effective at keeping them out. But it was curious to know that things had been happening in her absence.
As she entered the room where she was to meet with Swain she lay out on the couch. She lacked her usual seductive grace. Her body was in to much pain and her mind far to stressed and worried about her situation with her shrinking safety zones as well as the ticking clock on her immortality. Without a new way to acquire the venom she would die for real. She didn't want to consider how it would happen. But her mind worked on the worst case scenarios against her will.
She was sure that the undead weren't supposed to need rest but she was feeling so weary of late. The stress was going to destroy her if any one of the dangers she had acquired didn't do it first.

The slam of the opening door against the wall behind sounded suddenly--and behind it, The Master Tactician strode over the threshold. No longer was the rhythm of his footsteps uneven or aided by a cane. He walked with purpose, his bootfalls uncharacteristically heavy on the marble. "Elise." His authoritative voice rang out in the sitting room, no longer hoarse or faltering, but possessed of a mysterious power that rushed over bare flesh like stormwinds. "Sit up."
Swain's demeanor was a stark contrast to that of their first meeting, and as he stepped into view, it became apparent that his posture and form were a far cry from his previous weakness as well. Upon his shoulder, his hellish raven shook out her feathers as her pinprick eyes assessed the reclining woman. His expression hidden behind his leather helm was inaccessible but for his blazing gaze. He did not sit, but stood across from the chaise, hands clasped before him.

The slam of the door made her literally jump out of the chair. The instant searing pain made her fall back into it however. Everything that was going on and her thoughts on other things had made her careless. She should have heard someone coming. She was going to make whoever it was sorry they had startled her though. She knew it couldn't be Swain. No matter how distracted she was she would hear him and his cane coming a mile away. She couldn't move the hand from her broken ribs though. She was really going to make them sorry.
As soon as Swain spoke, or commanded. It was impossible to take it as anything else her eyes moved up ready to be angry but her anger at the way he spoke instantly became open mouthed shock when she took him in. Her mind had trouble making sense of what her eyes were telling her. It was Swain. But he looked how Swain would have looked several years after she had left for the Isles the first time. How her brother would have looked at that age. For a moment she forget her pain and moved to stand and go to him but the rush of pain made her sit back once again and served to clear her thoughts. She felt the power emanating from him. He was always powerful but this was different...more. For the very first time she felt a chill go up her spine at the sight of him.
"You ask me what is going on? You are a smart man. From the look of me I think you know what happened to me. Well the end result anyway." The sight of this new, frightening version of the boy she knew and perhaps foolishly trusted made her want to keep as much of her failure as she could from him. She suddenly didn't feel as safe as she wanted in his presence. Especially wounded as she was. She wasn't sure if she should share her true problem. She didn't know how he would take it if he knew she were dieing .... again. Just another thing to put on the pile of stresses. If she didn't die from injuries while she couldn't heal, the lack of venom or the disease that she was even now starting to feel the symptoms of she would die of stress she was certain.
"The more important thing is what is going on with you! Your....Your....Soooooo.....Different! The tiny hairs on her legs could sense tiny changes in pressure and wind and it felt like there was a constant wave of pressure coming from Swain. It was very disconcerting. The only other person she felt something similar from was The Ruined King. That didn't leave a good feeling in her chest. She just didn't know how to feel about this new development.

Luminous eyes narrowed, far from amused by the spideress' backtalk. Wordlessly, Swain strode to her and snatched her chin up in his hand, forcing her to meet his blazing gaze. "I will tell you," he decreed, "what is and isn't important." His every word rang with imperious power, each syllable purposefully pronounced. He released her roughly and stepped back again, folding his arms over his sculpted chest.
"I know what is happening to you, Elise. You've been beaten. You are undergoing withdrawals. You will require... medical attention." His words carried the cruel implication that he could either provide her the best care available--or deny it entirely. Her life was on a thread dangling above a roaring fire, and he the knife. He could sense the life force wavering within her--but if she wished him to extend his aid, she would need to prove her worth.

Elise could only sit there as he grabbed her chin and mad her look into his eyes. His grip was painful but the mere aggressive action did more damage to her blackened excuse for a heart. This boy had been a substitute for the brother she lost and had seen him as her only family even while they were apart. She could only sit in pain and hurt inside and out. It took a moment for her to take in his words. She didn't know how to respond so she kept silent and hoped he would calm down.
His next words were like a dagger to her heart. He knew? He knew she was dieing and he still treated her like this? The way he spoke sounded like he would keep the medical help from her unless it profited him. She couldn't help the trembling. She forced he body to stop shaking from the maelstrom of emotions going through her mind but it took all of her strength and will and left nothing for her to act like the strong and confident Spider Queen that she was known to be. What was left was a confused and damaged girl that she had been before she had died and been reborn with new purpose. Her voice was monotone when she spoke. "I was found out before I could get much information that you would have wanted. My absence was missed while I was meeting with you the first time. I am sure you would have heard of what transpired during the peace talks. But I have an acquaintance with Azazel, the man that kidnapped the Queen. One other piece of information that I gathered was that The Ruined King means to take Uristan as a foothold on the mainland. When she was done she looked at the man that she had loved more then anyone in the world. She searched his face looking for the boy that she had taken under her wing when they were both young. She could no longer find him. What had happened. She would find out. She would if it was with her dieing breath.
