July 31, 23 CLE
The Great Hall, the heart, soul, and center of all things involved in the Institute of War, the looming jewel of all their work. It was quite the masterful temple to the Institute's cause. Located inside the depths of a cave, the soft light of the arcane illuminated their surroundings, softly humming away with the power they were granted. It was truly a wondrous sight to see...
But then, something very strange started to happen, something unseen, but definitely felt and heard. The ground started to shake slightly, as a low magnitude earthquake would shake the ground ever so slightly. A sound, distant at first, sounded like the roar of some far off beast within the distance. Yet... the roaring grew louder, the shaking more violent, as the great cacophony of what some recognized as an engine echoed throughout the cave, nearly deafening with reverberation after reverberation.
Then, it could be seen. Two mighty lights flooding the distance with visibility. Something big was moving through the cave, and it seemed like it had no intention of stopping until its destination was reached. The light only became greater as it moved closer, gradually making something focused with the intensity of a spotlight upon the institute. Rocks and pebbles were bouncing up and down from the ground as it sped closer to the steps of the Institute; even the stalagmites and stalactites of the great cave broke off and fell in certain locations from the noise and vibrations. Soon though, this roaring beast turned as so not to drive into the steps themselves, revealing it to be some kind of mechanized contraption.
It looked like a locomotive on wheels, which someone painted purple with blue licks of fire dancing along its sides. It finally came to a stop, the noise reducing to more of a growl as pent up steam released from the sides of this great beast. It stood almost blocking the steps, although that was not the intent of whoever was driving this thing. The doors of this vehicle slid apart and down to its sides, and hopping down from its cozy interior was the last person anyone could expect at the institute's doors: Dr. Mundo, the Madman of Zaun.
The good Doctor had a smile of satisfaction with his arrival at the Institute's doors. He almost began walking up the steps, when he remembered he forgot to lock his vehicle up. He turned, and reached a bulging purple arm towards the cockpit. In his hands was some simple sort of hextech device with a key hanging off of it. The Doctor pressed the button, and the doors slid back up and over the cockpit, sealing it tight again with the sound of a beep of recognition from the Mundomobile. Only then did the Doctor start his walk up the great steps of the institute.
He was not wearing what most remembered to be his normal attire, the torn white shirt with remains of pants and shoes clung to his body. No, today he was wearing what looked like an aviator's jacket with blood smeared across its chest (although whose blood was indeed a mystery), with a matching thematic set of goggles over his eyes. His cleaver hung from the side of his waist, and the lower half of his body was finally covered in pants and fitting shoes.
It took a while, but it did not tire the Doctor one bit. With a large purple fist, he banged on the institute's doors, expecting a response.

((A New Challenger has appeared!))
Rare were the times when Naiyu decided to venture out of her room. Rare, but always with good reason. With her recent acquisition of the position of Jacob's student/assistant, finding time to tinker with her own hobbies and pastimes was becoming scarce. Today had been one of a few fortunate breaks she had, and she intended to spend it scavenging her heart out for pretty flowers and the like. Leaving the Institute for that was, of course, a must.
Tottering up to the rather overwhelmingly large doors, Naiyu felt small tremors beneath her sandaled feet. Her light cream knee-length dress fluttered as she stopped, staring at the doorway. Was it...an earthquake? Of all the days, today?!? But then..something felt off about it...it was...rhythmic?...and getting louder...closer...
Starlight hair brushed over her shoulders as she decided to pick up her pace, dashing up towards the doors and pressing her pale hands against them. Something was here, just outside these doors...
A loud and booming rapping at the doors startled the petite summoner, making her jerk backwards. Did somebody...knock just now?! This rattling...was from a person?! And they apparently wanted in, at least, that's what she thought.
With a small groan of effort, Naiyu heaved herself against the gigantic doors, willing them open to allow entrance to the awaiting person just beyond them. Out of curiosity, her golden hues flickered upwards to see just what was going on-
The noise that came out of her mouth was not natural.

((My day as a Roleplayer has been made: I scared the easily scared PC with something pretty high on the scary chart.))
The Doctor expected someone who looked more... wizard-like, you know with the billowing cloak, hooded visage and long white beard? That's how all wizards are, right? Anyways, what met him at the door was a little girl wearing sandals and a sundress. What was someone like her running around the Institute for? Oh well, Dr. Mundo would get his answers one way or another. Maybe if he was lucky, he'd get to fight a fellow champion if they were coincidentally here. Oh, how he longed to cleave something worth cleaving...
The madman's spotlight-esque eyes glowed down at the girl, outlining the shape of his comparatively titanic visage.
"Graah, *sluurp* Hello! Mundo champion of League! Mundo come to Institute to ask question. Mundo not know who he need ask; who run Institute of War? They have answer for Mundo! *sluurp*

((Achievement Unlocked: Shrieking Violet . u.)
It took the girl quite a bit to recover herself from the 'Flight' mechanic in Fight or Flight. She did do her best to listen as the large purple ...er...person, spoke to her. He called himself Mundo...the name sounded familiar to her. She received her answer when he further elaborated, naming himself a Champion of the League. So this was Mundo, the Famous Madman of Zaun? She didn't know if to be glad she now knew what he looked like or horrified she'd met him at all...
It felt a little of both.
"A...A...A-Ah..." Her voice hitched in her throat as she attempted to speak with him. "...W...Who r-runs the...I-Institute?..." As straight-forward as his question was, it held a little...problem, for the small summoner. Who exactly should she take the hulking behemoth to? The High Council? The Stewards? The Secretary Council?...what was the procedure for this sort of thing?...
Naiyu forced the shaking in her legs to stop and the drumming in her chest to ease, trying her best to think. "U-Uhm...I-I..." Would it be best to find someone who could better help him? It probably would, since wasting the Madman's time was most likely a very, very poor decision.
She turned on her heels, beckoning to the Champion with a flick of her hands. "F-Follow me...S-Sir..." Naiyu fumbled out, deciding to take Mundo to her teacher, whom she was near certain would be a better help. At least, she hoped he would...

Jacob let out a happy sigh as he sunk into his large chair. His paperwork was done, he had given Naiyu the day off and no other duties to do. A day off was rare for him. All he had to do today was sleep, drink and just relax.
He wouldn't of had this day off if Naiyu wasn't such an adept learner. What she lacked in confidence she made up with in hard work. He rewarded her with some time off. Which he had no problem with, because time off with her was also time off for himself. Not to mention with her around, he had kept on top of his paperwork.
Yes, a day to himself. He smiled as he took a drink from his bottle. He was going to enjoy this.

Happily, the Doctor abided the young woman's request, following her into the belly of the arcane beast that was the Institute.
"Mundo forget last time he come here..."
The solid thud of Dr. Mundo's over-muscled tree trunk legs stomping on stone resounded loudly behind Naiyu, the only other indication of his presence being the open-mouthed breathing that came from above and behind her head.
And of course there's the overwhelming murderous aura, but that always goes unsaid. At least he's not on fire...

Mundo's breath searing across the exposed back of the small woman's neck unnerved her. It was bad enough the 'man''s very presence was fear inducing, topping it off now with possibly explaining she didn't know how to help him...
"A...Ah..." She gave over her shoulder, not knowing if to really reply or if that was simply Mundo talking to himself. The murderous aura he was giving out made starting any small-talk none-to-enticing...
Her sandals clicked faster as she rounded the corner, heading towards her teacher's door.
If she had the day off today, no doubt her teacher was trying to relax as well. It mad her feel bad, knowing she'd likely upset his day plans, but of the small, very very small group of people she knew, he was the only one with any sort of go-to knowledge about how to handle this...
Finally reaching the entrance to Jacob's office, she stood still, glancing up towards the door to Jacob's office. Taking just a tiny breath and giving a sigh, she knocked her knuckles lightly against the surface.
"S...Sir Jacob?...Are you there?...I-It's Naiyu, Sir...I...have a b-bit of a problem..."

The blissful serenity of silence of alcohol was disrupted by a timid knock on the door and a quiet murmur. To him, it could only be one person. He had grown accustomed to her gentle ways. He could still sleep through quiet a few things, but her gentle knocks and timid voice always seemed to wake him.
Jacob rose from his chair, stretching his back and limbs as he did. He took one last sip of rum to wake himself up before walking to the door. "Naiyu, I thought I told you to take the day off. I really hope you aren't spending it studying. Now what is this pro..." The summoners voice trailed off as he opened the door. There stood Naiyu, dressed casually and looking like he was about to pass out in terror. Behind her stood what was the largest man Jacob had ever seen. It wasn't hard for him to recognize the Madman of Zaun, with his great stature and unique appearance.
"...yeah, that's quite the problem..." he muttered to himself. So much for a work free day.
Mundo was an oddity, even among the people that made up Zaun. He was relived that he was not in a state of anger and that his apprentice was still in one piece.
"Can I help you...Doctor?" he asked Mundo, half expecting an answer and half expecting a cleaver into his face.

As the door swung open to the posh captain's cabin that was Cervantes' room, the Doctor's eyes lit up, more than usual, as they saw the swashbuckling summoner.
"Graah..."
The purple hunk of muscles leaned forward, eyes squinting and chin barely brushing the top of Naiyu's head. His head was only a few feet away from the one who smelled faintly of alcohol. Alcohol... Alco- Oh him! The Doctor's eyes widened with excitement.
"Mundo know you!"
The Doctor moves past Naiyu and towards the Bilgewater summoner.
"Graah you summon Mundo to League match before. Mundo get two pentakills in match. You work good with Mundo when drinking! *sluuurp*"
He reached for and promptly took a seat, its support barely able to hold his mass.
"Mundo come to Institute to have question answered. Mundo not know who to ask though..."
Post by Jacob Cervantes on Nov 24, 2013 4:57:12 GMT -5
"Oh, you remember that huh?" Jacob responded with a slight chuckle. He had shown up the match completely drunk, something that would have normally gotten him in trouble. But for some reason, he had won that match single handedly, so he was met with praise instead of anger. Needless to say he never tired summoning with drink again, he had the worst hangover of his life the nest day
Jacob winced as Mundo sat in the chair, relieved that it could support the behemoth.
'Summoning? Well, I could explain it to you, though I'm not the most knowledgeable about it. If you want the full details, you should ask one of the High Councillors, or one of the Diamond summoners."
He then turned back to his shaken apprentice. Poor thing was doing her best to keep it together. "You all right Naiyu?" All right was a bit of a subjective term. Having to be near someone like Mundo had strange effects on people.

"Mundo not need all details, just basics. Mundo may need details, but Mundo not know yet."
The Doctor sat patiently as the Summoner inquired as to the young girl's current state, but soon the Doctor was up on his feet again. He was looking at the various trinkets inside the summoner's office, examining all the Bilgewater goods. The Doctor could actually visit the bustling island chain now, if he so desired. He had the means, and had more than enough time. The Doctor went where he pleased, after all.

Naiyu gave a curt nod towards the Elder summoner, trying her best to smile at the man to reassure him of her safety...and sanity.
"I-I'm alright, Sir...th-thank you for asking..."
Her eyes slowly made their way back to the behemoth of a ...'man', Mundo. Jacob had summoned him once before? By that line of thinking, she herself could end up summoning him as well one day...it was an interesting thing to think about, all the different types and makes of Champions one could 'control'...a small woman like herself ordering someone like Mundo around would surely be a sight to see...
Naiyu noticed, although he exuded a near stifling aura of murder, he was quite restrained. "Mr. Mundo is...r-rather civilized...when he's not angry, I-I suppose?...ahaha...?"
Post by Jacob Cervantes on Nov 26, 2013 17:51:22 GMT -5
Jacob shared a nervous laugh with his student. "The Doctor is quite...unpredictable in his actions. Despite his appearance and mannerisms, he is one of the most brilliant medical minds in Valoran. Rest assured, I'm sure he is only here to sate his curiosity. I guess both our days off are ruined huh?" He gave a weary sigh. "Well, no sense for both of us to lose our days off. You can go back to your plans if you wish. Unless you want to stay here and help teach him about summoning."
"Now then," Jacob said as he turned to face his large guest. "You want to know about summoning?" He took his seat behind his desk, now facing Mundo. "Summoning is a magical school based around the summon spell-the ability to pull things from another place. It can go from mundane objects to living beings, such as you and other champions. The bigger the object and the farther it is summoned, the greater amount of skill and power needed to summon it. Understand?"
Post by The Madman Of Zaun on Nov 27, 2013 8:14:00 GMT -5
As the higher ranking summoner returned to his seat, the Doctor returned to his, listening to his explanation on summoning. The Doctor rested his large brutish hands on the edge of the desk.
"Graah, Mundo understand, but..."
The Doctor paused for a moment as he reminisced on what he said, and what he should have said.
"Mundo make mistake. Mundo want know how Champions revived on Fields of Justice. Mundo... have idea. Mundo not know if idea doable, so Mundo research."
Post by Jacob Cervantes on Dec 1, 2013 20:55:44 GMT -5
Champion revival? What was the doctor thinking? He wouldn't trust Mundo with a pair of safety scissors, let alone the power to prevent death. Still, it would be impossible for him to achieve this. He would need a Nexus and the knowledge, skill and magical aptitude to use it. Still, for his and Naiyu's sake, h would tell him.
"It's due to the Nexus. When we summon champions to the field, they are summoned through the Nexus, which acts as a power source. When you die on the field, you are absorbed into the Nexus and reconstructed to how you were at the first summoning of the match. As the Nexus expends more magic, it takes longer to rebuild, hence why death lasts longer the longer the match continues."
